  1. The difference is us people from the region actually win titles. You can pout about overrated all you want, but at the end of the day all you Indy fans do is trash us then you lose at state and say, "Well, we had more placers." Perhaps if you guys would spend more time coaching than pouting about the region then you wouldn't have to anymore.
  2. The region seems to be underestimated every year, and this year it is being poured on more than ever. Last year everyone said it was Evansville's year followed by New Castle. Will the boys from the north continue to bring the upsets this year? Any thoughts?
  3. 170 is a Merrillville lock lol. and 126 Crume has been dominant all year
  4. We have a wrestler that is a cradle king. He is kind of goofy and terrible on his feet. He is a good scrambler however and has a strong bridge ive never seen him pinned ever. He also gets more active as the match goes on. He is very exciting to watch.
  5. Yes but locking both legs is just like locking the body. once you go over an arm or to one leg it is no longer locking hands. just figured you guys would already just know that.
  6. We all know there are many styles. There is scrappy wrestling. The strong guy. Cradle Kings. Headlock Heroes. Defense. Offense. Counteroffense. Takedown Specialist. Top Specialists and Bottom. There is the guy who is technically sound. And the Fast Pace and Slow Pace. And scramblers. And finally the guy that adapts to his opponent. At the end of the day which style prevails? And who are some of your favorite wrestlers to watch because of their style?
  7. The only place you can't lock hands is around the body. So that rules out locking hands.
  8. You have a lot of the La Porte champs getting 4th or not placing. If that is the way you really feel there will be surprises for you on saturday.
  9. Merillville has had 117 placers in the last four years. That's out of 448. A little over 25%
  10. Mike Eldridge of La Porte. Kid just gets stronger as the match goes on. He works very hard and may be a state qualifier this year.
  11. That doesnt add up to 70. My count had merrillville with 32
  12. and just lost to him Saturday. But at the end of the season being on the ranking ms board is all that matters right?
  13. No the rankings are not spot on haha. Youre predicting that some of the guys that were beat last week are just going to turn around and pull the upset this week. Not likely.
  14. Hurford was kind of defaulted the number two spot this year because of his performance last year. In all reality 170 was a weak weight class last year. Darryl Peppers was a state qualifier!! I mean wasn't that only his second or third year wrestling. 182 was far tougher and no one thought Matt would take a medal and he took fifth. Many kids with potential to win state have taken fifth and 182 was stacked last year.
  15. This cliche thing has gone too far. Some kids have a sense of urgency and others are lazy. Some lazy kids also have God given talent.
  16. someone is a fan of the crown point sectional lol. You are underestimating some of the small town wrestlers.
  17. I believe Perry would get 4-6 matches depending on whether the DAC picks up the toss ups at 138 and 160 or not
  18. DAC champs 106-Michael Garza 113-Gaige Torres 120-Adam Garcia 126-Josh Fuqua 132-Julian Torres 138-Darden Schurg 145-Chris Katsofaros 152-Dustin Schurg 160-Matt Hollins 170-Robert Steveson 182-Exvonte Jones 195-Morgan Kral 220-Gelen Robinson 285-Shawn Streck I believe that the DAC would take that match no contest, but that just shows you how good Perry Meridian is.
  19. Mike Sustaita of Knox is a goer. Not exactly a physical specimen at 195 but the kid has talent. And a shot at regionals.
  20. Joe Stasiak over Jaylin Allen. Freshman Kobe Woods wins the Mishawaka sectional at 220. Grant Martsolf over Mitch Hartman. Mike Sustaita of Knox wins the La Porte sectional at 195.
  21. Rypel is a freshman and Hiestand hasn't wrestled the level of competition that Tatom has. At this point in the season you can take the rankings and throw them down the drain. It will be a good match because Tatom has been down to the big dance as well and both have ample experience. Also, not sure that this matters in the conversation, but nobody has been able to get up when Kenny Hughes (Lowell) is on top. He had less mat time at the Al Smith as the champion than some kids did losing their first two matches.
  22. Wasn't talking about recognition now. Talking about how it took this long for him to get some spotlight. Just like how his freshman year he was just the other freshman to qualify at 189. Now, however, he is recognized as a great wrestler since Masengale was pinned.
