  1. i agree that sampson deserves a ton of respect for being a great wrestler and more importantly a great kid. when it comes down to it though, i don't think he beats moberly. i'm just going by the level of competition that moberly will see everyday in the mat room and from opponents. i see this being a low scoring grind out with a score like 3-2. if sampson pulled out the win, i wouldn't be shocked but i don't see it happening. as for the returning sectional champ at 145, i think he is a half step behind these two at this point. even so, he has to be given some consideration. like i said, when the brackets come out we'll have a better idea.
  2. this is one of the more bland sectionals we've seen in many years. not a lot of uncertainty on who will get first. the 2nd - 4th matches will be interesting to see who places where. oldtimer, the only pick i think you're off on is 145. moberly will take it to sampson. he's wrestled a tougher schedule and has looked better in my opinion than sampson has. sneed from fc could be a 160 contender as well. i'll hold off on individual picks until i see the brackets. teams 1. jeff - great season and will most likely have 7 champs. 2. floyd - 2 champs, maybe 3. "down" year for them but their young. expect them to be back strong next year 3. charlestown - probably 1 champ and several moving on 4. new albany - 1 champ and a couple of 2nds 5. gosh, are there any full teams after these 4?
  3. wow. jeff gets all 14 in the top 4. they are probably the most solid team the hhc has seen in a looong time. jeff dominated down low and jennings tore it up in the upper weights. i was really impressed by jennings. much tougher than i thought. what did the team scores end up at?
  4. individual predictions 103 happel fc shepard jeff coomer na 112 smith jeff rieker ce thomas fc 119 miller jeff rieker ce resch jc 125 rieker ce mont jc castro jeff 130 witt fc martin na simpson jeff 135 weekly jeff denny fc reynolds bnl 140 denny fc harbin jeff adams mad 145 moberly fc ogle ce dryden jeff 152 wathen jc tatgenhorst jeff foster fc 160 sneed fc baldwin jc marlin jeff 171 browner jeff kopitze jc faulkenburg fc 189 bass jc nelson jeff young mad 215 collett jc pratt jeff sharp fc 285 hoke na caum jc edwards fc teams jeff simply best top to bottom. maybe a record difference in score. - 4 champs jennings lots of placers - 3 champs fc most improved over the course of the season - 5 champs ce too many weak spots - 1 champ na not as good as people thought early - 1 champ mad couple of good guys - 0 sey not physical enough - 0 bnl still not competitive -0 - probably one of the least interesting in terms of individual matchups in the past few years. not as many studs going head to head that were relevant at the state level as we saw the past five years. jeff runs away with it but jc and fc will be a nice battle for second. best of luck to all of those wrestling!
  5. team predictions 1. Castle 2. Floyd 3. Columbus 4. Heritiage Hills 5. Zionsville 6. Princeton 7. AT 8. Southport 9. Mitchell 10. Corydon match of the day Stein over Weiss upset of the day Moberly over Welch
  6. where did floyd finish. i though i saw them in the top four at one point
  7. 130 witt from floyd central will beat both of those guys. i saw both witt and martin wrestle in different weight classes at the hhc duals and witt is in better shape and a better wrestler. their 145 moberly could come away with first as well.
  8. thanks for the clarification chambers. i think it is good for the individual if they can wrestle to their level of competition. imagine how much better this kid is getting by wrestling against high schoolers than if he was resigned to compete against middle school students. i guess my question would be, why does indiana prohibit middle schoolers from wrestling with their high school teams. safety?
  9. i thought 8th graders couldnt wrestle in indiana meets but he apparently has
  10. humm. i thought some of those guys graduated last year. in that case, you are probably right about them finishing in the top five. i'll list my top six then:) mater dei franklin community trinity avon memorial floyd central any teams out there besides these six that could contend? i am not that familiar with the ky teams and i know that vincennes lincoln and providence are down from last year. it looks like most of the other teams have a few tough individuals but not a strong line up from top to bottom.
  11. i've not seen a lot out of them this year so its hard to say. i know they have about 3 tough individuals but as a team i think they are weaker this year based on the limited results i have seen. I don't know who they would beat out of the top five i listed though.
  12. there are a lot of great teams and individuals at this tournament. our team doesnt go but i wish they would after seeing the level of competition. i suppose mater dei is still the favorite to win this year. i would think that franklin community could be a close contender along with avon. top 5 picks mater dei franklin community avon memorial floyd central i think mater dei will place enough to win but it will be close. they always seem to pick up bonus points in these types of tournaments.
  13. it wasn't as much of a blow out for mater dei as many thought it would be. ce was rather close in the final points standing. lots of different teams with high placers.
  14. one of these things is not like the other one of these things is not like the other
  15. there is some stuff on the results page. jeff had a good day. hhc competition results were a little misleading and conference is weaker than first thought. looked good but still a ways behind the top in the state. bsouth and mater dei very tough but jeff competed. matched up better against castle. jeff had 3 or 4 guys undefeated. come post season the boys could make some noise. i think there could be multiple state qualifiers.
  16. i was being tongue in check and having some fun with the teams attending the invitational. i know they wrestle a hard schedule so thats why i thought it was funny the teams going there weren't the type they usually see.
  17. didn't floyd used to wrestle a tough schedule?
  18. i think jeff will give some teams good matches this weekend. i do not think that they are on the same level as mater dei or castle but they will compete. bloomington south is great too. it might come down to match ups between these four.
  19. i think i agree with cpike. it is nice that jeff and east both post there results here for us. it is fun to see how the kids progress during the year and who wins against who but it seems only when teams are winning do they do this. it seems that alot of people on here gripe about the lack of respect wrestling gets from the papers and that no one cares about it but most teams dont post anything on here about the individual results or even the team results. ive not once seen jc, fc, na or bnl post anything about there results this year. i guess we'll watch wrestling continue to slowly fade away since most of the programs do not even attempt to help themselves. we parents and fans want to see it here because they get it no where else!
  20. wondered what everyones thoughts are. i felt the competition was down a little compared to last year. seems that some teams are much more evenly matched than we thought. ce and jc werent as solid as i figured they would be but they will prob get much better as the season goes on. na and fc are young and will improve as well. if madison can field a full lineup they will be good. seymour and bedford are both struggling still. lots of freshman and sophs out there. i think jeff will have the best season if they can get better in a couple of weight classes they can go far this year. they seem to have the most experience and skill top to botoom. jc, floyd, na, and ce will all be interesting to see come tournament time. a lot of those kids just need a few matches under there belts and theyll be competing at a higher level. all those teams have a good bunch of coaches so we might have a great individual tournament come january. it might be a fight for second but it is a five team fight in my opinion.
  21. okay the individual vs team match up thing has gotten old. results speak for themselves, which shows that there are ups and downs in the season and year to year. one is early in the season. one is late in the season. the teams have been pretty even the last few years and at the end last year jeff was the best. everything goes in cycles from one year to the next and during the season. it is good to see everyone in the hhc improving and there is some good wrestling out there! results from floyd jeff looked pretty strong with some work to do fc and na are both very young and will be interesting to see how they develop over the season madison has some holes to fill with a few weight classes i could see jc, jeff, ce having some good battles tomorrow for 1st
  22. i didnt realize jeff had so many guys out last year. still we got to wrestle with what we got. jeff would no doubt win a tournament in the hhc but duals are harder because of match ups and momentum. i cant remember the last time jeff beat fc in a dual and if there are a bunch of guys out again dont be surprised if you see the same result. i think this year is the best shot if jeff can put out a strong line up but i dont want to get over excited until i see it.
  23. that is too bad that jeff has had that many people not come back. this is just the kind of thing that makes floyd pull out the win each year. everyone thought jeff was going to win last year and floyd spanked them. i wouldnt be surprised to see it one bit again this year but i am still picking jeff by a match. it all matters how the early matches go because fc gets in your head bigtime when they start winning. i looked back at the records last year and fc had the strongest jv team. i dont believe they have wrestled yet this year but you can bet those guys are more than ready to step in the lineup like beaner said. i gave up picking against htem along time ago. jc and ce always seem to be just a step behind fc and jeff when it comes saturday.
