  3. From my experience when 1st year wrestlers get thrown in varsity and get beat up all year they tend to not return for a second year. Getting 6 minutes in a jv match is far better for a new wrestler than spending 30 seconds in a varsity match before getting pinned.

  12. What are the rules for this tournament as far as coaches? Since it is the offseason are they not allowed to coach the wrestlers?
  13. Cashe lost to Stieber (OSU) in the semi's 9-6
  14. Whiting had a new coach last year and he is still there.
  15. Bishop Noll 44 Andrean 27
  16. Wait. . . no one wears that anymore?
  17. Hobart, Highland, Goshen, Whiting, Gavit and Bishop Noll. I believe Goshen won it last year.
  18. I'm not a teacher but i talk to the AD and get in there and talk to the kids. When I talk to them in gym class i try to take the angle that it will make them better football players and get them in better shape for other sports. I've also told them how most of the UFC guys have high school wrestling backgrounds.
  19. I had this same problem. My first year we only had 5 guys. I hit all the freshmen and junior high gym classes. I also went through the school and talked to football players and had the kids on the team all bring in friends just to see if they would like it. It took like 2 years of doing this but we are about 20 guys right now and about 15 of them are underclassman.

  21. I had a chance to attend the Purdue/Iowa match a few years ago at Mishawaka High and it was a really enjoyable event. If I am recalling right, Harper wrestled and won a very close match. I think Vega had a match at Portage too. Minn vs Purdue? It's great for kids in the area that don't normally get a chance to attend a Big Ten wrestling event.
  22. Is this a first year program? Are they looking to add any matches this year?
  23. Good luck to Steve Lopez who is making his UFC debut tonight at the PPV. Steve is a South Bend Washington grad and wrestled for Bethel college for 1 season before the program was dropped.
