  1. I would like to ask andrew howe the same question I would believe he would have a different opinion. If it is so bad for schools to wrestle bigger schools why do you hurt your team with your schedule? You can not have it both ways is it benificial or not to wrestle bigger schools? What about wrestlers like kurt kinser or reece humphreys I remember them having some quality matches? Is it better for wrestlers to wrestle weaker opponents? Thats my question. If it is then class the sport if not then work harder to compete.
  2. Why is that so bad? 10-15 is actually right where we should be if population is taken into account. I personally think the states wrestling is better then it ever has been and the state tournement has tested everyone in it. I would also say andrew howe, tshirts, escobedo and others benifited more then you may think from the indiana state non classed tournement.
  3. I would say to you that class doesn't matter as much as your program. I am stretching Y2's statements he has made in earlier post. I think every team with the right coaching and right off season can wn in our current system. I also believe that most teams to do not work hard enough. It sounds like your program is on the rise and if it continues on that path good things will happen and you will probably eventually beat belmont. It may take 5 or ten years but your in the right direction. Matre dei and the great teams have had there programs in place for thirty years and it shows. Every team already has the chance to compete. Matre Dei a small school has won 9 of 11 championships. They do it by working the youth and bringing up quality products year in and year out. No offense Karl but you have as much chance as beating matre dei at sectionals most years as you do beating crown point. Classing won't change that your work ethic will.
  4. And I am pointing out in ohio it has and matre dei and yorktown have been competitive already whats o stop them from making it a two team field. No one in a smaller division would compete with them at all. Were more like ohio in that aspect then michagin.
  5. How is my opinion delusional. I would say if anything it has come accross more and more you are out for your own personal gains. Y2J- doesn't deem his team competitive against bigger schools and he claims it hurts progrmas yet he continues to schedule bigger teams to wrestle. Then he wants his team to only face small schools at the state tourney because he believes thats only fair to his team. You can't use both to benifit you and claim only one is good for you. Karl hungas doesn't believe it is a fair system because his team faces good schools in sectional. Yet if he doesn't seem to care that other teams have small school powerhouses in there sectionals. If it hurts him he cares if not its fine its part of the sport. I do not hear mishawaka complaining about there draw they lost fair and square.
  6. Well thats fine I don't want to hear teams in matre dei or yourktowns sectional complaining then. Come on the system is not perfect it never will be if it were mishawaka would be at state every year. or matre dei would have replaced delphi or roncalli. Your always going to have the same exac problems unless you fix the individual schools.
  7. 13 straight did not help the problem. These programs in no way are getting better because of class wrestling. If they are it took 30 some odd years to do it and its still broken. There is no parity in the sport in Ohio. If it has influenced DI like your going to try and claim whats wrong with Ohio's DII
  8. Lets talk about indiana how do you see the system setting up. DI Matre Dei beats everyone by 20 + points 14 of 15 years D2 6 of the same 7 teams make it every year. Why is there no change? Its because these programs run things right. Its not because things are un equal there just better then you. Well what benifit do you have? your problem is teams do not have a chance to win in the classed system they still don't. Teams can win a sectional in the current system its happens every year.
  9. The fact is it doesn't fix the problem. It only enhances it on a different level. I could go state by state if you like and show how class wrestling hasn't fixed the problem FYI d III top 3 teams were 35 points higher then any other team. It is not going to fix the problem The problem is teams do not have the community to support wrestling fix the communites fix the problem. Your right Matre dei a small school won 9 in a row whats going to stop them in a weaker division? How does this fix the problem?
  10. Class wrestling in ohio Division 1 Lucky #13 - Wrestlers Win Unprecedented 13th Straight Title Congratulations to the St. Edward wrestlers and Coach Greg Urbas, who claimed a 13th straight state championship this weekend in Columbus. Nice the parity is just awsome at ohio's state level. Its been in progress for 30 years and we still have dominate teams. Gosh I am sure this is helping the little guys. Yeah probably if your little guys wrestle for St Edwards. division II St. Paris Graham Local sends 13 to individual state. 1. St. Paris Graham Local 282.0 2. Uhrichsville Claymont 81.0 I hope this is the kind of parity were looking to find in Indiana. What a travisty not to have this at our state level. division III troy had 9 wrestlers to state cuy had 8 wrestlers to state So division III is the only division any team has a shot at winning. Sort of like indiana. Matre dei would win the bottom every year and and we would have the same big tournment every year.
  11. this is a northeastern indiana board pretty much i don't think mckormick has won yet but you would think we were staring at the next president of the us
  12. It may get some hype to see metcalf wrestle again which could encourage the sport to be watched on a whole. Kinda like tyson in his prime boxing you always wanted to see what he would do next. Hopefully they protray metcalf like a young tyson it may work for our sport.
  13. How about more articals about wrestling in papers and different things. Maybe make a bigger deal about conference.
  14. You beat me to the punch these are great teams yes and the preach a team aspect a lil probably but in the state tournement its all about the individual.
  15. Yeah mock our greatest president. Voted on by the people. He has done more for our country then you have done for the sport of wrestling I garentee that.
  16. Well it could just take longer a good program may take 10 or 15 years to respond it takes getting the youth at very young ages. 5 years old are wher most the evansville kids start.
  17. he has been there two years. It takes time Karl you should no that. Rome wasn't built in a day nad a wrestling program can not be either.
  18. Well big deal at least there staying fit. :'( :'( :'( I'm sorry its so hard for you. I mean with your regional training center you always talk about and all. You have more at your finger tips then most schools its your own fault if you loose.
  19. It happens like that everywhere a lot of coaches have off season stuff in the evenings to work arround the kids schedules. If you do not have that maybe you could try that.
  20. Title 9 means if you get rid of a boys sport you have to get rid of a girls. Thus the reason why wrestling is being cut is because the communities do not support them. If the community doesn't support them classing the sport still won't help them. I think wrestling would be better if we sent volunteers from community to community and spoke of regional training centers and things on that level. Get involved on small scales to help instead of changing a system that still won't help the issue.
  21. And all believe class wrestling is a bad system. At least all the votes we should talk about it to dismiss the idea for good.
  22. 90% of the coaches wanted to class individual state? I highly doubt that. I would think 75 percent of the wrestlers perfer the non classed state tournement.
  23. I am sayign the wrestlers would perfer an individual state title and the coaches who want their top level wrestlers to face the best competition should also. The top level kids especially those in smaller school have a harder time facing tough compitition throughout the year so it is benificial to all the atheletes to have a whole field of the state instead of splitting the talent pool. I never said there would be chaos but it would hurt the sport i think were on the verge of loosing something great in our sport and the state doesn't want it.
  24. Well all I am saying is small schools like yorktown who brought 6 or 7 to state would bring 10 or 12 at the small school level who does that resurge? The big schools who brought ten in the current system may bring 12 at the other level. Both sides loose competition when we class the individual state. Football and basketball run is spurts more so then wrestling because wrestling is not established in schools like football and basketball. I will tell you that the small schools are closing the gap because it took them a little longer to start their programs up. Now that they are they are competitive at all levels. Matre Dei would smoke everyone for years in a smaller division. Its not like bad small schools would get better it just makes the top teams look better in both divisions. Parity does not come from classing the sport it just allows to divisions to be dominated. Imagine matre day when they had 10 staters they may have brung all 14 to small school individual state is that good for the sport? So the system won't be fixed is what I am saying. You have to have a better solution to have a change and the individual class system hurts everyone.
