  1. Not a fan of two sessions at all, especially when you have kids & teachers who cannot leave school to watch during the morning session. Two sessions also takes away from the parade of champions. I feel sorry for the teams who have multiple kids attending and cannot make the walk together with their teammates if they are in two separate sessions. Makes zero sense, let alone a long day for coaches who have kids in two sessions. If they are worried about one session going too late into the night, start it earlier and get back to our normal Friday night. I sure hope they don't have teams warm-up this year, followed by weigh-ins! It is about the kids who earned the trip, maximize it with memories.
  2. He clearly said they would go on sale at 10:00 p.m. last night, even when several people on the Zoom call questioned it, he said 10:00 p.m. He also said all the documents discussed on the Zoom call would be on our IHSAA dashboard......well they are not.
  3. Yes very frustrating, especially when your AD sends out a school wide email notifying our corporation of the change vs. what was communicated earlier.
  4. "Per Robert Faulkens" on the Zoom call tonight, there WOULD NOT be a set limit on purchasing tickets. We were also told that online ticket sales would go live at 10:00 p.m. tonight, vs. what the IHSAA website stated 10:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. And that "parents and fans need to have patience when ordering" Guess what....you will get an error saying no upcoming events if you try to purchase now. Frustrating with the lack of consistent communication.
  5. The track wrestling record is incorrect, he is 29-6. Branham's losses are below: 1) Etchison (we have two wins against this season) 2) Latimore 3) Wright (Eastern) 4) Smith 5) Watts (we have one win against this season) 6) Platonov
  6. I know a guy who won the first state title in any sport at his school. At the time, he graduated with a class size of 85, and possibly a smaller school enrollment than Turkey Run. Would like to know the comparison. First year 106 lbs. was an IHSAA weight class. Never qualified for state until his senior year, and was not ranked going into the state tournament. He may have gave 3X state champ Steven Bradley the last loss of his high school career, and also owns a win against @Y2CJ41at some point during his college career Not a bad run with the legendary names of Mac Taylor, Steven Bradley, Ryan Schoettle, & Nick Hall in his bracket.
  7. Yes, forgot to mention the awards ceremony. For sure needs to be reinstated!
  8. Not here to offend anyone, or get into politics! It is politic overload everywhere we turn. First off, thankfully we had a wrestling state finals last year. Yes, it was formatted in an extremely modified way, and took the true atmospheric fill from the best state tournament in the country. Just seeing some statements from the IHSAA that Friday will be the same format as last year, but with the weight classes being flipped. There is mention of the parade of champions coming back, how will that look if Friday is divided into two sessions? My hope is that the kids who have EARNED the trip to the big house, is that they experience some normalcy!!! A true warmup and weigh-in that is not backwards!!!! Do not have to sit on a concrete floor that is tapped off in a back hallway, can sit with their families and friends who have supported them for so many years, and actually feel the true environment of our wrestling state finals. THE BIG QUESTION....is how can there be a national championship football game at Lucas Oil Stadium, at full capacity, where nothing was modified? Full capacity at Pacer games?? Will the IHSAA basketball state finals be modified like the wrestling state finals? Again, not here to offend anyone, just want to understand the logic behind decisions being made! INDIANAPOLIS — Monday night was a big win for Georgia in the College Football National Championship game. An estimated 100,000 fans watched on at Lucas Oil Stadium and in surrounding bars. While Bulldogs came out victorious, the night was also a major win for the city. “This is more than we expected" Wrestling: Robert Faulkens said that the Friday first round format used during last year’s wrestling state finals for the first time will be retained in separate sessions, but the weight classes will be flipped. The 152-285 classes will go first and be followed by the 106-145 classes. The parade of champions is expected to return. He also said reserved seating at the wrestling state finals is being strongly considered through the Gainbridge Fieldhouse Ticket Office. Friday, Feb. 18, 2022 Session 1 | First Round Weight Classes 152 - 285 | 11 am ET (Gates open 10 am) Session 2 | First Round Weight Classes 106 - 145 | 7 pm ET (Gates open 6 pm)
  9. Mason Todd Pendleton Heights Finishes junior year undefeated. Knocks off undefeated & two time defending state champion Cody Phillips at the semi-state (that many thought would never be beat). Runs the table at state finals beating Jarred Brooks in the finals.
  10. Pendleton Heights Mitch Todd State Qualifier Matt Todd State Runner-Up Mason Todd 4x Qualifier, 5th, 1st, 3rd
  11. Unranked Frankton HWT Hunter Branham over state #5 North Central Watts #2 New Castle semi-state. 3-2
  12. It is all about match-ups, especially early in the year when teams are trying to figure out their lineup. Frankton has got an invite to team state twice, placing as high as 5th losing to North Posey in a dual that came down to bonus points. We split matches 7-7, was an exciting dual and what it should be about. Fast forward to this year, we have 30 kids on our roster with some young kids, and some talent from top to bottom. Several options within all weight classes. Opening weekend Delta beats us, Alexandria beats Delta, and we beat Alexandria. It literally was about match-ups. I would say all three teams were not at full strength either with the best 14 kids in each lineup. For a small school, we wrestle a very competitive schedule, facing very few 1A & 2A teams. The Pendleton Heights regional is not a cakewalk by no means, especially with Cathedral, several Indy schools, Noblesville, Pendleton Heights, etc. Even the Elwood sectional is highly competitive from a team and individual standpoint with semi-state/state ranked kids representing several weight classes. We will continue to do what we do with our program, and hope the cards fall in place. Looking at the 1A qualifying teams and FF's within several of their lineups, it becomes frustrating for teams such as ours and others such as Cascade that could represent well at a 1A level.
