Are you talking about the coach from the shelbyville sectional that inj. defaulted first.

This horse is dead. Does anyone realize that the only reason this was done was because a state qualifier injury defaulted. The coach simply wanted to give his wrestler the best chance at getting to semi-state. In the end, the kid lost a 3-2 match yesterday morning. The semi-state pairings and regional pairings are done very different, so I am not sure of why Bobby Cox thought that would stop coaches from doing this.

I really wanted to let this topic die, but....what if you were the coach of a number 2 ranked kid that was going to win his sectional and then would have Danny Williams Sat. morning of regional? The fact is you aren't wrestling the 4th best from the other sectional. I can almost guarantee that if the coach that had his 215 pounder wrestle Jake Obrien fri. night of state would have had the draws early we would not think anything of it to inj. default. This coach just likes to win...probably hates to loose checkers and such. The kid still has to beat a good kid.

When is your school/club running a tournament? I am sure you guys will do better job. About 90% of the complaining at local tournaments comes from people who don't run a tournament. I hope FCwrestling is in the other 10%. -

All sports have changed. Now, you have so many parents that complain about the decisions being made by coaches. Parents used to stay out of everything. My dad and mom both were huge supporters of my coaches, and I know they didn't agree with them a lot.

Oscar, I am sure Perry's coach wanted to travel a couple hundred miles to wrestle "cupcakes." I think someone posted that Trinity brought their JV squad because of football. Mishawaka and Perry Meridian have one of the toughest schedules in the state. I would have to look at the current team rankings, but I imagine both teams will wrestle at least 10 top 20 teams this year before the state tourney. What you are suggesting is ridiculous. For example, the only teams Mish. can wrestle are Perry, CP, Yorktown, Merr., Franklin, Portage, Castle, and MD....this year. Next year we will have to change that schedule to include some of the young teams in the 10-20 range because they will be in that top class next season. You make scheduling seem so easy. Also, I am sure some of those "cupcake" teams enjoy your comments. How about replying with your geographical location to at least give the cupcakes some locker room material.

It stinks because people will say, "if I had all my 8th graders" or "congrats on your 14 and under trophy." There is a large number of first year cadets that will not be eligible. If there had to be an age requirement why isn't that used? Why does there have to be an age requirement at all? Schools do that for you. At my school they move kids up if they are too old. Trent, in your post, I didn't see a reason for the age requirement. Who could argue with any middle school kid that has not repeated 8th grade?

Depends on who you are asking. I see a lot of kids who would never attend a wrestling event until they get to Cener Grove. For me....I would say its a toss up.
