  1. 247 Freshmen and Sophomores have been imported into the Indiana Frosh-Soph State Championships with Separation Criteria 3 ... those SSQ's who advance will be upgraded as they progress.   These SSQ's are also pre-qualified and not permitted in the Frosh-Soph Qualifiers on Sunday.  Good luck to all on Saturday at your respective Semi-States.

  3. Many thanks to all of the volunteers, wrestlers, ref's, and venues so far ... the State Tournament is fully imported and ready to go.

The event is set for a 7:30 Doors Open a week from Saturday.   As it wasn't a pre-registration open event, but instead a Qualifier, the entry fees are pay at the door.   When you pay you will receive a Weigh-In Card which you can take straight to the scales.   Six mats in the main Southport Fieldhouse will have scales.   Any scale will do ... pick the shortest line.   Weigh-in's will absolutely close at 9:30.  Wrestling starts at 10.   At weigh-in's you will be wearing a Singlet and Shoes (about 1.5 pounds) and receive an additional 2 pound allowance ... i.e.., 126 is now 130.  If you are 130.1 you will be bumped up for no fee on the spot.   if you are 124 or lower (120 plus 4), you may bump down.  Your Separation Criteria will follow you.

Separation Criteria (seeding) will be implemented when building brackets.

Level 1 -- State Qualifiers (winners Friday night will be removed) ... and congratulations on your success.

Level 2 -- Quarter Final SS

    Level 3 -- SSQ

    Level 4 -- Qualifier Champs

    Level 5 -- Qualifier Runner-ups

    etc.......

Please check your level in the tourney and make me aware of any issues.  markdurham@mac.com

I have offered this to the coaches association for sanctioning ... I hope they will continue to consider.   It's up to all of you to make it successful.  These kids deserve it.

Many thanks to the folks at Southport, Tell City and Portage for stepping up to Host.

  4. We will be hopefully adding 24 wrestlers to the State Event from each weight class ... 12 from each Qualifier.   So if you add 24 to each imported number from the State Event (SS Qualifiers), you would have maximums.  The tourney is two days, and wrestles down to the top 12 first day.   Day 2 starts with the Podium Round and Semi's ...

32 and 64 man brackets (even with pigtails) are no problem.   Actually, that would be a great problem.    The highest level of participants would be 593;  257 from the SSQ's and 336 from the Qualifiers.

  5. 257 Freshman and Sophomores have qualified for the IHSAA Semi-States (of the 896 slots) ... congrats to them!

They have been imported into the Indiana Frosh-Soph State Championships and can participate by merely being present.   They are not permitted in the Qualfiers, as we hope to give another 12 wrestlers per weight class per Qualfier a chance at advancing.

Going to be a great tournament most weights will have 2 ranked kids in the finals.

If everything works out we will be Live-Streaming this event on TrackCast.  3 mats, all rounds.  Should be archived on the brackets as well.

  7. If you go to trackwrestling.com and find the Pointer Open today (Nov 8th) ... when you get the dashboard up click on one of the 6 cameras.  This is a new feature built into TrackWrestling ... the laptop that runs the matside scoring can now process the video and add this banner ... much simpler and much better.  This is very good news.  Several portals are being worked on ... but it's up now.
