  1. Glad to see that some people are now seeing that Chamberlain has ONE move. I don't think it will continue out of this weekend. Sims beating Welch? He has ONE point in 3 matches against the Welch boys (except for the penalty pt. at team regional). I'm not sure if WIMPelburg has even scored against Daugherty. And didn't he get pinnned by Hammelman at Sectionals? Match of the day will be Stein vs. Weiss III.
  2. I agree with the weight classes except that I think 140 is a toss up. Little Welch will get bonus at 112. Castle's 171 won't give up bonus. He wrestled Weiss to a close match. This is going to be a great dual meet!! (Both teams need to get there first though!)
  3. Jeffersonville vs. Mater Dei, Castle vs. Jasper After looking at the results page for Jeff, it appears that all 4 of these schools wrestled each other in the same gym back in December. What were the scores of these matchups back then? Predictions? Let the discussion begin!!
  4. Yes. My wife coaches volleyball so I've probably been to a lot more than you have. My point was that the tall girls are closer to the top of the net than the short boys so the boys are at a disadvantage. Thank you and good night.
  5. And if it's a height thing, then just about every wrestler would be able to play volleyball!! ;D
  6. I don't doubt that the height of the net is the logistic thing in the rulebook but that makes no sense. What if a guy wants to play that is shorter than the tallest girl on the team. Should he be allowed to play then since he, technically, is at a disadvantage being farther away from the net than her. And I'm pretty sure the IHSAA is scared of ANY law suit no matter the size. That would require them to spend some of that $$$$$ on a defense attorney.
  7. What is the logistical matter in why guys can't play volleyball? Baseball and softball are equal enough to make them comparable sports. If your point is that they are different, so is boys and girls basketball (different sized ball), track (shorter hurdles), and field (lighter shot puts). I've never seen a girl ask to compete with a heavier shot put against the guys?? How is that all that much different. If you want to compete with the boys, then compete with the boys at all sports. Why have gender rules on sports at all????
  8. I agree with you Stick. Girls should only wrestle girls. Girls should NOT be a part of boys wrestling. It's a lose/lose for any boy that wrestles a girl. It's either "You're real tough. You beat a girl." or "YOU LOST TO A GIRL???" I am 100% on your side. If my daughter wants to wrestle, she will only be wrestling girls. I think it's absolutely ridiculous that girls are allowed to play football but boys can't play vollebyall. And just last year (or maybe the year before) a girl sued the IHSAA because she wanted to play baseball. Isn't that what softball is for?? IHSAA wrestling is for the boys. Let's keep it that way!!
  9. I stand corrected. Sort of. My point was that heart alone won't win. It takes much more than just that. Heart is just one component of sports along with passion, desire, determination, discipline, work ethic, athleticism, and mental toughness. I apologize if my statement was misconstrued and offended some of you. It did not come across to some of you as it was meant.
  10. Unfortunately, heart size has no bearing on winning and losing. And not losing easily is STILL losing. I'm not saying he's a bad kid or doesn't love the sport or that he's a terrible wrestler. I just don't think he'll place in this tournament.
  11. Sims.....if he doesn't make weight. I don't think the 189 will place.
  12. 1. Reitz - They will place all 14 in the top 4. They don't have any real weak weight classes. 2. Mater Dei - Always win matches they aren't expected to win and will place 13 of 14. 3. Castle - Will have more champs than anyone (my guess is 5) but will only place 10 or 11 of their 14. When the touranment is over, then we will see how well decbell did with his team rankings!!!
  13. The only thing that would make this dual meet better would be if this was Fall Festival week.
  14. From what I've seen in the results, this should be a good dual meet. Castle won Bo Henry and finished 2nd to Yorktown at Mooresville. Heritage Hills finished 2nd at the Harrison 10-way to Reitz and won the Ben Davis tournament. This could be a good one. I hope it gets made up. Maybe Coach Thompson or Coach Harmon could give us some info on this.
  15. Wasn't this matchup supposed to take place last week? Did it get snowed out? If so, when is the make-up date?
  16. Change of thought so early in the year? Or was the earlier post of North being Team State qualifiers just to get a rise out of everyone?
  17. Sounds to me like someone (Jasper) is trying to avoid another team (Castle) that has a solid team this year. Wonder what would happen if the tides were turned? If I were Jasper, I'd want to wrestle the best competition there but it doesn't appear we have the same train of thought.
  18. Sims HAS lost to Welch twice....once it was D Welch and once it was C Welch. Technically you could both be correct. CA 26 - MD 25
  19. Hahahahahahahahahaha. Whatever you're on, I want some because that has to be some good stuff!!!
  20. That doesn't even make sense. I asked if you have a beef with Coach Harmon and you are giving credit?? What is your problem with him? He is a very passionate person during matches that's for sure but what are some specific examples of him showing off his ego???
  21. angryirish, You have some kind of beef with Harmon? This is the 2nd thread I've read today that you've had something to say about the guy. What's he ever done to you personally?
  22. I just did mine. Who can I attribute them to showcasewrestler?
  23. Fine, Johns was a bad example then. What about Robison at 215? Or Zenthoefer at 145? Or Sims being in the finals at 140? Again, most of your pick-em's have these guys losing to people from the "northern" semi-states even though these guys have much better records! It's a northern bias on this board. That's all I'm saying. And if you think it gets old for nobody from the south stepping up it's just because they'll just get crap for picking kids from down here by all the northern folk. With that said, I'm done. It'll all be settled on the mat this weekend!
  24. How many of you have him beating one of those kids which is a VERY good possiblity? Time will tell. Just gets old hearing about the "untouchable" north. But whatever. Best of luck.
