  1. Sorry I missed that Nick. I am proud of all you boys for rising to the challenge of competing at the next level. To place Runner-Up at this tournament is truly something to be proud of. Good luck at Regionals and with the rest of your college experience.
  2. I ditto what Jacob said. The New Pal tournament was smooth. I worked at the tables. We started between 9:30-10am and my mats finished at 1:30 and 2pm. At that point there might have been a couple mats finishing up. Great job New Pal!
  3. The tournament started on Friday, January 30th and finished Saturday, January 31st.
  4. The Pete Willson Invitational, which is hosted by Wheaton College, brings together 30 Division II and Division III teams a couple of weeks before Regionals. Five Indiana wrestlers placed in this tournament that had 25+ wrestlers in each bracket. At 125lbs, Brandon Harvey (Trine University/Elkhart Memorial) placed 3rd; 133lbs, Ethan Harris (University of Indianapolis/Beech Grove) was runner-up; 141lbs, Matt Irwin (University of Indianapolis/Bellmont) was runner-up; 165lbs, Tyler Gobel (Rose-Hulman/Bloomington South) placed 5th; and 197lbs, Michael Burke (Wabash/Yorktown) placed 8th.
  5. Center Grove Central - Patrick Mallory, Jacob Short, Keith Adams Center Grove North - Steve Corn Feed into Center Grove High School - Cale Hoover
  6. Center Grove Central placed 4th at the Batchelor 8 Tournamnet. Team results are: CG Central 22 Perry Meridian Middle 83 CG Central 92 Jackson Creek 18 CG Central 53 Reitz 49 CG Central 43 Mater Dei 62 Undefeated wrestlers: James Anderson 4-0 Drew Ponder 4-0
  7. Keep the news rolling in. It's good to hear about a lot of kids that have continued wrestling after high school and we Indiana fans don't know about.
  8. I heard at Bellmont that Chico is not in school or wrestling now. My understanding is that Harper College didn't work out for Chico. Losing your mom and being away from home is definitely hard on a kid. He's too good to not try again somewhere else. I hope he is working on something for next season.
  9. Do you have anymore information on the Manchester Spartan Mat Classic? There were several other Indiana wrestlers there as well I'm sure. Ethan was always tough and it appears he's still going strong.
  10. As Keith said, Jimmy was not seeded. Jimmy lost by a fall in 3:35. The score was 3-0 after the first period. Jimmy chose neutral because of his last meeting with Oster (he is a beast on top). Jimmy got out of position and Oster threw him to the mat and proceeded to "man" handle him and then pinned him. Oster is 15-0 with 14 falls. Jimmy lasted 5:54 the first time which is the longest anyone has made it on the mat with the exception of an early season decision by points. Oster was the Division III Great Lakes Regional Champion at 125 last year and placed 7th in the NCAA Division III Championships to earn All American Honors in his second year at Division III competition. Jimmy will have maybe one or two more opportunities to wrestle him again this year and is looking forward to the challenge. Jimmy's record stands at 9-4 for the season.
  11. At the 27th annual nine-team Al Hanke Invitational Saturday, January 17, 2009, at Elmhurst College, four of Indiana's most recent graduates competed. At 125lbs, DJ Rackley (Franklin Central/Harper College) who was seeded #3 in the tournament placed 5th with a 3-2 record. Also, at 125lbs, Jimmy Schoettle (Perry Meridian/University of Chicago) placed 2nd with a 3-1 record, beating the #2 and #3 seed before falling to the #1 ranked Division III 125lb wrestler in the nation, Jake Oster (Elmhurst College). At 165lbs, Chuck Woodard (Warren Central/Elmhurst College) placed 5th with a 3-2 record and Caleb Norville (Mishawaka/Olivet College) fell to the #2 seed and the eventual 6th place wrestler at 165lbs.
  12. What do you mean everyone already heard about 130 Barlow, Spencer, Cook. Nothing has been posted all day. Please explain.
  13. Are you serious? I hope you and driller are friends and you are just throwing barbs at each other, otherwise you're not being too cool! Even us moms know a loss is a loss regardless of who is wrestling. Keeping a full roster in tact until the end of the season is a difficult task as you should well know. Injuries, grades, disciplinary problems, personal problems are all factors.
  14. Correction: USA Wrestling made the decision to have background checks - not ISWA. ISWA is complying with the new rule. Maybe the 5 pound allowance is a little too much, but at least the IHSWCA is heading in the right direction with mat side weigh-ins.
  15. Thanks for the update on Middle School State procedures. Thanks Rex for coming up with a good solution to the issues that had been presented to you.
  16. Blake and the Woods family- You and your family have been in our thoughts and prayers and always will be. Stay close to those who love you. They will help you get through the tough times ahead. As always, know that we are here if you need anything. Jim and Renee Schoettle and Family
  17. I was told by one of the PM wrestlers that Blake was going to wrestle at the Bellmont tournament. Yes, Blake's dad was not doing well. We all need to keep Blake's family in our prayers. The middle of the season is always tough mentally, but when you add a serious illness or death of a parent or close family member at this time, it all adds up. Good luck today Blake!
