  1. I wouldn't suggest any punishment for this. But that is my opinion. I mean really this rule is dumb for wrestlers trying to gain weight. The kid takes a couple drinks of water and gets disqualified but you have kids that haven't eaten or drank in 2 days but they are okay. And you can't tell me that coaches don't know this is happening. But yet we get coaches on here who act like they are morally clean when it comes to this stuff and it should be black and white. Be a man walk up to the other coach and say you need to watch that before the ref sees it.
  2. Not a bad point Joe. But I think where this comes in, does the punishment fit the crime?
  3. Yep yep and yep. Who knows the ref may have already caught it out of the corner of his eye and chose to ignore it. But once a coach tells him he is obligated to do something about it or he gets reported.
  4. I don't personally know you awood2. But by your comments I know we would get along just fine.
  5. What do mean? Like DQ the coach? Then in Sam's case you are just rewarding the kid for bad behavior.
  6. Just caught this Toe. I would consider them all move ins. Hence the private instead of the public. Don't get me wrong MD is a great program from bottom to top. If there was a private school wrestling dynasty in Fort Wayne don't think I wouldn't be trying to send my kid there. Take Luers for instance. Great football program that has been established. But how do you think they got there? "Hey take a look at little Johnny he can run, throw, and tackle better then any 10 year old I have ever seen." "Hey little Johnny come here a second. How would you like to play for a school like Luers?" "What is that you are supposed to go to Northrop, don't worry about that we are private school." "What is that you can't afford it, we will figure something out" "Okay tell your parents to give me a call and we can talk about getting into our system." Even playing field????
  7. Yes if want to be black and white with these issues. This would fall under the same category.
  8. I would say something to the coach not the official.
  9. I would. Unless it is a kid I coach. I wouldn't go around and police other teams kids. It is none my business or other coaches. If the other coach has ethical issues that is between the AD, school system, and the parents. It is their job to fire them. You can't tell me you don't walk around and see stuff like this all the time. Do you report it every time? And I mean every time. Because if we are being black and white here let's truly be black and white.
  10. Sometime a drink of water is just a drink of water. :-X
  11. Not a bad point. Just seems a little extreme to me. But that could be the old school coming out of me. You know when you spit in bottles and stood on your head right before you weighed in.
  12. Hey Joe I saw you speeding the other day. Don't worry I told the cops for you. Honestly how far do things need to be taken? I like the common sense method. If he was drinking it to make a weight. Yes DQ him. If he was just not thinking a warning and a chance to educate the rest of the team about what can happen should work. As an opposing coach talking to the other coach should suffice. Where that coach takes it with his wrestler and his team is where the ethics should come in.
  13. I want cool points back. This comment gets one from me.
  14. Just an opinion and I am not sure about what the rule actually says. I would have weighed the kid in and if he was close to being too light. Like a pound or two I would have not let him wrestle. Otherwise I would have made and announcement to both teams about how it works and what not to do. Especially since it is early in the season. Was this at your school or another? If it was at yours I would take everything into account and then approach your AD on if you want that ref back or not. That is the great thing about the system, if the ref is horrible just don't ask him back. Why do you think you don't see Lopshire at very many places.
  15. Don't say huge. There is no such thing as a huge 113 or 106 pound wrestler.
  16. I know there are many people that don't like facts or reality for that matter.
  17. Do I really have to explain to you how public schools work and how private schools work? I am not saying private schools need to be separated, but what I am saying is that it is much easier for a private school to go up a division and still compete or win. If you would like me to go into more detail I can. Bottom line is that Bellmont is a small community located in Decatur, Indiana that produces phenomenal wrestlers year and year out. Not a private school located in one of the bigger cities in Indiana.
  18. This is a great discussion. But please do not compare a private school like MD to a public school like Bellmont. Apples and oranges.
  19. I will hurt you. Real bad.
  20. That is pretty much the response I got last year. The thing is some of us are required to work or have other obligations that prevent us from going. If it is a money thing I would be happy to pay 5 or 10 bucks for live updates and possibly purchase an imaginary hotdog.
  21. I may have missed this discussion. But where did they go? And why? I like to see if someone is a Troll or not after I read their posts.
  22. Yeah, I got yelled at for asking for updates last year. I think she was mean though.
