  1. After the match is over, and you legitimately won, taking your ankle bands off and throwing them in your opponents face is not winning with class.
  2. A team point was taken away because some people don't win with class.
  3. I agree with Y2 on this. Hamilton worked pretty well to be in position for the cradle. Maybe if ( I think several pretty good wrestlers stand in the way for each of them) they meet in the regional finals Mr. Striggle should not be a position to let it happen again.
  4. I personally don't care what the IHSAA web site says, it's MENS wrestling, not boys. Boys play basketball. I don't have a problem with females wrestling on a MENS team. If she and her parents don't mind, I don't either. My son wrestled girls several times in freestyle and middle school with the instructions : she is just another wrestler, run your normal moves and don't be concerned about her being a girl. After the match, then she is treated differently. But my point still remains, we should not call it boys wrestling, it should be referred to as MENS wrestling.
  5. LeTourneau will become a 4 time conference champion today!
  6. I was wondering the same thing True Fan. I'm sure someone knows the brackets but maybe it's a secret or something. I guess we'll see tomorrow morning.

    NLC

Where will the NLC tournament be held this year? Any predictions?
  8. Gilbert won the Goshen Invite at 119. I thought he looked impressive and would liked to have seen him wrestle the 112 from Bronson. My money would have been on Gilbert!
  9. It looks like 171 might prove to be interesting with the Semi-State ranked wrestlers at that weight.
  10. That's classic, but I heard through the grapevine that Rip was cutting to 171 and Sleeping Beauty was definately cutting to 125.
  11. Who are the teams who will be there?
  12. I am pretty sure that 112 #5 Gilbert from Whitko beat 112 #2 Armantrout from Muncie South today.
  13. So Y2, do you have the complete results from this poll?
  14. They only boo (or attack) the good ones. Just ignore that crap and keep rolling. You've got some great times ahead, enjoy them!
  15. I too would like to see Whitko and Huntington meet again. It was an exciting meet to watch. I'll especially be interested to see the Gilbert - Eckert match. Huntington has improved and I think it was their first loss of the year, but I think Whitko will be too much for them again.
  16. Gilbert had Eckert on his back for a considerable time and looked to be very close to the pin on several occasions but the referee was out of position. This is a normal position for many referees when the action is going from one side to the other. However from my position on the front row it appeared that Eckert was pinned several times. It happens. From the neutral position with about 10 seconds left, Gilbert up 8-4, Eckert did catch Gilbert with a headlock and earn 5 points. It didn't appear Gilbert was close to being pinned, but it was legitimate back points. I think it was a great lesson for everyone that "You have to wrestle for 6 minutes, not 5:50.
  17. I thought that Chamberlain from Northfield at 112 or 119 (somewhere in those weights) looked to have quite a bit of potential, what weight will he be going this year?
  18. It'll be interesting to see how much Huntington has improved when they wrestle a pretty good Whitko team at the Huntington Super Duals.
  19. Y2 -- You're still number 1 A OK in my book. You're the man.
  20. One more request for Y2-- Could you also pay for my room this weekend? Thanks, it's appreciated.
  21. As a coach I encouraged our wrestlers to do the following after a match: Show class win or lose, join his team on the team bench and share the moment with them, win or lose, then go into the stands to briefly share the moment and thank his parents for being there, and return to the team area to support his team. We did not have any problems with them hanging out with girlfriends, or pals. We did make the expectations clear from the beginning, especially about the girlfriends staying in the stands. So basically I have no problem with wrestlers briefly visiting the stands at the right time.
  22. Our local papers usually print articles covering middle school basketball results instead of varsity wrestlibg results. How great is that?
  23. Justin and Jared are really good kids in wrestling and in life in general. I've known them for many years and have never seen them disrepectful or rude to anyone. Just really good kids who are a credit to thier community.
