  1. That is not the way I remember the match at all. I rememer Rossbottom scored a take down on the whistle in the first period. Jankowski got his escape. Both got an escape starting their choice period. The match ended 3-2 in regulation. A local sports writer did a story about the match, after watching the tape. He said Jankowski shot 20 times throughout the match and rossbottomonly one. But his one shot counted and none of Jankowsi's did. Not one stalling call in the whole match. I don't know if he had called stalling if Jankowski could have won, but it would have been nice to see if he could.
  2. My most memorable team state finals was the match between MD and Hobart. Hobart gets a big lead and MD comes roaring back to win with a pin in the heavy weight match. The roar from the MD crowd was like a jet engine. My greatest memory from individual state has to be the '03 Wildcats with 4 consecutive state champs. Craig Weinzapfel conserative, but dominating. Dustin Nosko with the pin in the finals. Sam Wildeman with the pin in the semis then win in the finals. topped off by the Muarer/Dolly match. It just don't get no better than that. The most excited I ever got was the Craig Weinzapfel upset victory over undefeated, defending state champ John Sheets. I took my son-in-law to that finals, and he thought I was nuts(I think he was right). I was sitting in the middle of a huge Bellmont Crowd at the time. I should probably thank them for letting me live. Craigs pin in the finals was pretty spectacular, too.
  3. I may be wrong, but I believe the regional with the biggest attendance at this semistate is the Castle regional. More people attend from EMD, Reitz, Castle and Memorial than any two other Regionals combined. Shouldn't it be the place with the least drive for the most people? Plus I think you get more people in this area who will attend if it is close rather than 3 hours away.
  4. I will post my top 4 in no particular order. 103, Hall, Shepherd, Schroeder, Vanhook. 112, Boomsma, Welch, Kief, Kuhn. I think Kuhn wins this one, but it should be a dandy final. 119, Molloy, Griesmer, Moody, Quinton. 125, Brown, Hoehn, Raley, Sulawske. I don't see anybody in this class giving Raley a test. He is a stud. 130, Martin, Mellif, Schofield, Miracle. I'll take Miracle as champ. 135, Barlow, Rueger, Weekley, Rassbach. 140, Rickman, Salyers, Raben, Milton. Hardest class to pick. 8 or more with the potential to advance. 145, Moberly, Simms, Waddell, Welch. 152, Welch, Parrish, Richey, Mappes. I see Richey vs Welch in the finals. That will be a great match. 160, Fudurich, Reese, Smith, Terrell. 171, Brandt, Weiss, Boots, Stein. I see Stein Vs Weiss in the finals, But it could be Brandy vs Stein. 189, Eads, Sandwith, Hacker, Rosebrock. Finals Eads vs Rosebrock with Rosebrock winning. Price could be a spoiler in the ticket round vs Eads. 215, Froehlich, Vandeventer, Wooding, Adams. I am giving Vandeventer the edge on name alone to make it out, not having seen him wrestle. 285, Caum, Vandeman, Stevenson, Jenkins. With the big boys, flip a coin. Not sure there is a real favorite in this class. Hammelman, Wimpleberg, and Daugherty could all be spoilers in the ticket r0und.
  5. I have been to Seymour's gym for Semistate. Not big enough, not enough seating, not enough parking, not enough concessions, and mostly terrible viev of the mats. Whichever side you are sitting on, you cannot see the closest half of the two mats on your side. Terrible place to hold the Semistate.
  6. My synopsis of this meet: Started at 171. Warren wrestled a heck of a match to make Boots take him to overtime to win. 189, I was impressed by Rosebrock's ability to keep his temper in check while only getting a decission against Wright, who should have been DQ'ed for stalling. Not taking anything away from Wright, he did what he had to do, but the refs were really generous to him. 215 and 285 went to Castle by decision as I expected. At this point MD was down 12-3 and I felt pretty good about where they were. They still need big matches from several wrestlers, needing a 10 point surplus going into the last two matches. Those big matches did not occur. 103 Vibbert ekes out a 3-2 win. 112 Little Welch with a tech. 119 I believ this was the match where Lannert had the Castle kid on his back most of the first two periods. Started the third period up 13-0 and only got the major. Castle kid wrestled great in the third. 125 Henderson got out wrestled by Brown for the decision. 130 Schroeder wrestled better than the kid from Castle, but not by much. 135 MD's only shining moment, Weinzapfel by pin. 140 out wrestled again. 145 and 152 match was already over by this point, Welches did what Welches do, won. MD didn't hand this meet to Castle, Castle took it.
  7. Congratulations Castle Knights, you were by far the best team and deserved to win.
  8. Md placed ahead of Castle at the SIAC and wrestled terribly. If they wrestle like they did at the sectionals, they should be ok. If they wrestle like they did against Reitz at the dual team and at the SIAC they will be in trouble. They beat Castle in the regular season last year and lost to them at the team regionals. They beat them in the regular season this year. Could this be a repeat of last year? Should be a great matchup. I can see this coming down to the last match. :-X
  9. I thought little Welch would get bonus points the last time they wrestled, but it was a decision. Both have improved alot so it should be interesting. As for the 171 match, if boots can hold you down, he can pin you. It was a relatively quick pin the last time they met.(Really, I am just trying to stir up some conversation on this topic ;D)
  10. Ok. I'll pick MD vs Castle in the finals, with MD winning. I have Castle favored at 112, 145, 152, 160, 189, 215, and 285. MD favored at 103, 119, 125, 130, 135, 140, 171. The difference will be bonus points. Castle will get bonus points at 189 and 152. MD will get bonus points at 103, 119, 135, and 171.
  11. So is it Floyd Central or Jeffersonville? I have seen both listed.
  12. My picks for top 3 in order: 103 Hall, Vanhook, Vibbert. 112 Kuhn, Welch, Wedding. 119 Moody, Griesmer, Lannert. Quinton could beat Lannert for the 3. 125 Henderson, Hoehn, Sulawske. 130 Schroeder, Melliff, Dowdy. Pretty sure of these three, but the order could be switched for all. 135 Rueger, Konrath, Hodge. 140 Meurer, Raben, Chamberlain. Whetstine could slide in here and the order could be changed, depends who shows up to wrestle. 145 Welch, Simms, Voegel. As close to a lock as you can get. 152 Welch, Marshall, Colavechia. Boyle could replace Colvechia. 160 Smith, Weikel, Brandenstein. Weikel and Brandenstein could flipflop, but I doubt it. 171 Stein, Weiss, Boots. 189 Rosebrock, Price, Sandwith. Lock. 215 Froelich, Daugherty, Vanwinkle. 285 Daugherty, Hammelman, Wimpleberg. Thats the best I could do With the information I have.
  13. I didn't know that. Thanks for the info.
  14. What was more impressive about this victory was that in the very first round Reitz had two matches and two forfeits to MD's 1 and 1. Reitz started off with a team point advantage from the start.
  15. My time in detention was measured with a calander, not a watch.
  16. Guess my darts had wobbly tips this time. Missed the team call too.
  17. Close as I could get to the quote. Good catch. Unless we get more than 4 inches, I believe they will wrestle.
  18. To paraphrase a line from one of my favorite movies: If you don't show up with a big bag of knuckles, you ain't got dinky do.
  19. We'll see if my darts are true this week. 103 Hall, Vanhook, Vibbert, Turi. 112 Kuhn, Wedding, Goebel, Mastison. 119 Moody, Quinton, Lannert, Matheis. 125 Henderson, Sulawske, Hoehn, Backes. 130 Dowdy, Schroeder, Mellif, Wolf. 135 Rueger, Konrath, Weinzapfel, Hodge. 140 Chamberlain, Whetstine, Reed, Raben. 145 Simms, Prasek, Voegel, Blair. 152 Marshall, Colavechia, Boyle, Raben. 160 Brandenstein, Schneider, Rushing, Memorial kid. 171 Boots, Ewers, Jones, Schnarr. 189 Price, Sandwith, Fentress, Wright. 215 Vanwinkle, Kemp, Adams, Ruhanacker. 285 Wimpleberg, O'connell, Hammelman, Kid from north. Feel free to deride my picks. They are uninformed and biased. Even a blind squirell gets a nut every once in a while.(no the nut reference did not refer to Hall )
  20. Still waiting to see the brackets. Does anyone even know if they had the seeding meeting?
  21. Has no one from Evansville sent in the seeds? Help a brother out and send them in.
