  1. In the opening round it would be considered a great draw if you had the equivalent of a ticket round semi-state level wrestler. By the end of it you will have some multi-time state placers coming from solid wrestling states who don’t even finish in the Top 8.
  2. Well the “rules of the Duals are you are allowed no more than 3 wrestler from outside your school to be in the Community division rather than the All-Star. But as we have noticed they “official rules” are not always followed closely as the community divisions turned into more of convincing what development level you can convince them you are at rather than just your school size. In the end I would hope most coaches would just want to get their kids the best competition they can for their ability rather than sandbag just to finish as one of the top teams by trying to get to a low competition level.
  3. Great I’ve been asking to see this exact rule adjustment for the better part of 25 years. While I don’t expect a rush on major national events like Ironman this is a perfect compromise to help individual sports attend nearby tournaments without being concerns about who else is there. However, now I have to find something new with the IHSAA to complain about. I’ll always have wrestle-backs.
  4. Just spitballing, but I think you make the World Team.
  5. With 2 matches left IN has enough of a lead to top IL and bringing home a 3rd place finish. Way to make the adjustment from the first encounter in the pool stage. From prior scores you could easily make the argument the squad would have had a close meet with 2nd place Iowa if their was a true second. Best finish in Schoolboy Freestyle history for IN too. Nice showing this weekend boys.
  6. IN ends up falling to NJ, but picked up a win against Minnesota. They are now wrestling for 3rd place against Illinois, who narrowly beat them in the pool stage.
  7. IN got the win over PA. Up next is NJ likely their biggest challenge to get to the finals.
  8. Two matches left IN down 15 to NJ. Indiana Gold will end up runner-up which is still the best placement in Indiana Greco history (previous best 6th) I’m sure our last two guys are going to push as much as they can to help close the final score too. Then on to what is hopefully a great Freestyle showing, as well.
  9. Started in the middle of the weight and NJ up early with a few big falls. But plenty of matches left.
  10. Considering IN is not considered near the top of the Greco state ladder that is awesome regardless of the final results. Great battling from our squad.
  11. Thanks for the update, I was all caught up with freestyle in between attending graduation parties and didn’t look at much of the greco. Great opportunity for Christian.
  12. The going assumption is that Bouzakis isn’t growing a ton more and could be a 133 for most if not all of his college career, whereas Mendez looks to still be able to pack on a solid amount of size and strength to get to a solid 141. Obviously the Buckeyes want to get them both in the lineup for as many year as possible. Bouzakis has major help from his upper body greco technique in many of the battles he won during their three matches with Jesse. He’s going to be a handful for many opponents if he can improve on that power while remaining at 133.
  13. Mendez ends up getting turned multiple times in Match 3 to lose via TF. He will have to settle for World Team Alternate.
  14. Allred dropped his first march. Hoping to turn it around Match 2. Allred unfortunately drops Match 2 and will end up as the alternate for the World Team.
  15. Back and forth in Mendez/Bouzakis second match with Bouzakis able to get several turns in a row and the eventual win. We’ll see it turns out Match 3.
  16. It is also worth noting that Silas Allred is also in the best of 3 finals to make the world team.
  17. Match 1 Mendes goes down 6-0 early with a lot of upper body power. Jesse then stormed back with 14 straight points with a throw of his own, a few takedowns, and some turns. Mendez take the first match. 1 more to do.
  18. Keep those updates coming I’m at a wedding for the rest of the afternoon. Why a wrestling coach would schedule his wedding on the WTT weekend is beyond me.
  19. Mendez looking great against the well seasoned Gross. Mendez almost ends it but Gross catches him gets trap arm, turning him several time to get the lead. Unfortunate ending from Mendez trying to push the offense to wrap up the match. I think the final was Gross 13-12
  20. Alara Boyd is seeded 3rd at 68kg WF Former IU wrestler Nate Jackson seeded 2nd at 92kg MF Former IU wrestler Lucas Sheridan is seeded 2nd at 97kg MG
  21. https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/high-school/2022/05/01/ihsaa-board-directors-consider-proposals-annual-meeting/9607926002/ Among a few other potential all sports rule changes these two topics seem to have the biggest potential impact on our sport. - Designating Girls Wrestling an official emerging sport. -Keeping the Indiana schools travel restriction, but eliminating the part of the rule which prevents competing against teams who travel from outside of that radius.
