Did the Winamac kid beat Kaufman this year? Just wondering how he was seeded ahead of him?
Edit: Nevermind, I saw the results from the Winamac dual where Kaufman was beaten 9-5.
The bigger crowd will suck, but the old format allowed you to have a losing record at semi-state and qualify for state. How many good kids did not qualify for semi-state in the old format because of being in a stacked weight class? I am sure a 4 seed will upset a 1 seed somewhere this year. I would prefer wrestle backs, but this is a step in the right direction I think.
There used to be shirts for the winners, not sure if they still give them out or not. JV states is a good analysis. My Freshman year there were two guys in my weight class alone who qualified for state as upper classmen.
Does the mullet have to be seen at a wrestling meet? If not, I have a guy in my town that would put that one to shame. Halfway down his back EASY. I will try to get a picture and post it if he qualifies, otherwise I will pay his way into sectionals so he will meet the criteria.
They always have in the past unless things have changed recently. If there is more than one per school in a weight class, they always try to put them on opposite side of the bracket. Freshman wrestle Freshmen and Sophomores wrestle Sophomores.
Gonna change my post on this one. Looks like Rensselaer is missing a couple of their better kids, plus their seeds don't look so great. May be a learning expirience this weekend. Dephi wins this one but will be challenged by BC as they always wrestle very well at this tournament.
I would not be so quick to say Delphi wins this one easily even though they are the favorite. BC is always tough for this one and a few years ago the tournament came down to the heavyweight final. Rensselaer should place a notch higher than you have them listed, but they are so young this year so it is hard to say.
Was I wrong in hearing a while back that students at West Point have to be involved in atheletics as well? I would think that would sway his decision to wrestle if correct.
I don't really know where the toughest is right now, but back in the day it had to be Crown Point with Hobart, Portage, Chesterton (when they were really good) and Merrillville were the main dogs there. Am I forgetting any other big schools? Throw in some very good individuals from schools like Hanover Central, Lowell, KV, Rensselaer, Lake Station and others and it was a real fight to get out of there.
