  1. wow---congrats Noblesville---I am a bit surprised by the margin. HSE have everyone? Conference really looks interesting. I know HSE beat Jeff, Fishers beat Noblesville and lost by 5-6 to Westfield. Brownsburg beat Zionsville. I have not seen Laff harrison but hear they have quite a bit of talent. Not sure anyone will put more than 4 in the finals.
  2. The Hoosiers Crossroads conference has a few teams flying under the radar. Hamilton Southeastern beat Avon and only lost to Carmel by 6. McCutcheon defeated HSE this past weekend. Looks like quite a bit of parity this year in the Hoosier Crossroads Conference. The rest of this conference includes Laf Jeff, Laff Harrison, Noblesville, Westfield, Fishers, Brownsburg, and Zionsville. It is unusual not to see a team or two from this conference in the top 20. The quality of wrestling in Indiana is going up.
  3. Westfield beats fishers by 4---both win 7 matches Fishers beats Lebanon and Shelbyville Westfield loses to Evansville Memorial Fishers beats Evansville Memorial but finishes third in pool on criteria Cross pool matches starting---I know in other pool were Ben Davis, Princeton, Mount Vernon-----not sure of the other two
  4. Joe---congrats---First Fishers wrestler to take wrestling to that next level. I wish you the best of luck!!
  5. I was at the regional and witnessed the match. It is pretty harsh to call an official incompetent. This was a great match with two excellent wrestlers---pretty fast paced. It is easy for us to watch and criticize but I thought the officials did an excellent job this past weekend. I agree this match had some calls that the official would love to have back.=----but when you officiate this many close matches you are going to be off here and there, I can tell you I have officiated and that it is much easier officiating as a coach---as you only have to watch one guy:) I looked at the draws and it is my hope that both wrestlers qualify to the state tournament---they are both very deserving.
  6. Wrestling is a tough sport to keep kids in. I see many wrestlers finding success by advancing to the next level---perhaps that is going further than they did the year before. Many wrestlers are proud just to make it to semi-state. The more opportunities we allow for more wrestlers to be successful ----the more popular our sport will be. Wrestling is about progression from year to year----goal setting---advancing 4 vs 3 allows more wrestlers to feel successful. We had a sectional alternate at Zionsville knock off the number one from the other sectional and place third at regional---you just never know. Wrestlebacks allow this same opportunity----especially at the semi state and state level. It also assures that at the end of the day we have the best qualifiers and the best placers. As I look at the brackets for semi-state-----there are many cases where a wrestler is the victim of the draw.
  7. There is alot of parity at this weight class at regional and at New Castle semi-state. The draw, individual style match ups, and whose hot will all play into the 4 that qualify for the state tournament.
  8. Zionsville Did a nice job with the sectionals----officials were very good and consistent thru the day, Wrestling was very competetive----I thought in a normal year the top 6 that placed get out at 171. 112 was also very competetive. 14 wrestlers initially seeded in the top 4 did not advance. Few weight classes ended as seeded As the norm with wrestling expect many surprises this coming weekend. Good luck to Zionsville sight qualifiers---especially those representing the Hoosier Croossroads Conference-----29 wrestlers from the 4 teams representing this conference ( Westfield, Zionsville, HSE, and Fishers) will wrestle this weekend.
  9. The call on Joe Lile turned into an unsportsmanship---he was not DQ'd
  10. wrestling is one sport still out there for the little guy. I agree that 103 should remain. There is excellent quality around the state in the 103-125 weight classes. I think it would be a mistake to eliminate a class. My vote if a weight class were to be added---would be between 171 and 189----i.e. 171, 182, 193. If we had to give up a weight I would do it in the middle---i.e. 133 then 140. The quality at 171 and 189 is very good
  11. actually those predictions do not seem half bad. Most weight classes have 2-3 that can challenge for the title---we will see who is hot. On paper I see Westfield becoming the team to beat---I think they could put 6 in the finals. I see Avon and surprisingly Fishers with perhaps 5 potentials each. I do not know anything about Brownsburg, Lafayette Jeff, or Zionsville. I do know that rarely does a weight class go as expected----

  13. The Hoosiers Crossroads Conference is rescheduled to this upcoming Saturday----the 24th. This appears to be a two team race between Westfield and Avon----though after looking at the brackets quite a few scenarios could unfold. 160 looks very strong with Peters, Farrell, Jones, and Dale as the top 4 seeds
  14. So we wait another week. I am curious if this helps anyone or hurts? Another week to heal-----or a week to get sick:).
  15. This is going to be very competetive. On paper I would list Avon and Westfield as the favorites. The X factor are those first matches---lose and your done. It is possible to lose some good point scorers. I would like to see the non seeded wrestlers wrestle to get into the tournament-----not count those matches in the team scores. It would be nice to see sectionals handled in the same manner. That way you start the tournament with the best 8 and it's double elimination from there. If you can not beat an unseeded wrestler to get in you do not have a strong case.
  16. Thank you To Avon for hosting a great day of wrestling. In the highlight match Carmel edged Avon by 7 or 8---great dual. fishers was 3-2, Lafayette Harrison 2-3, Ben Davis 1-4 and Green castle 0-5. Great matches all Day---wrestling ended about 6:30. Thank you Avon for a job well done. Also Thank you to the officials---a good day of work.
  17. Pretty good start here- all names look pretty deserving---I know there are quite a few others deserving of mention---Lebanon, Noblesville, Fishers, McCutcheon and Hamilton Southeastern all have 3-4 notable wrestlers some who made it to the semi state last year. Not sure we have captured all from Carmel/ Westfield. Last year South Mont was pretty suprising----not sure how many return
  18. Teams include: Avon, Brownsburg, Fishers, Laf Harrison, McCutcheon, Hamilton Southeastern, Westfield, Zionsville, Laf Jeff, and Noblesville. I am not sure any team will put more than 3-4 in the championship-----Might be a year that team depth makes the difference. Early indications have Avon as the pre favorite-----Any predictions on champs or top 4? All 10 programs will put forward a quality team.
