  1. Congrats to Darren on a big TKO win. He shot and got the takedown early in Rnd. 1 and when he did Ludwig hurt his ankle real bad and couldn't continue. A wins a win and it bought him another oppurtunity in the UFC, and a huge TKO win at 44 secs. of Rnd. 1. Good weekend for IN wrestlers!
  2. I know Steve's dad better then I knew Steve but by all accounts he seemed like a really good kid and this just breaks my heart to hear about anyone that young no longer with us. I think after recently becoming a father myself and like I said knowing Steve's dad this is especially hard for me. For any of you young kids out there, this is a very permanent solution to a very temporary problem. Nothing is worth taking your life over and the problems you have today are minor in the big picture of life. Please kids dont ever do this to your parents and loved ones or especially yourself. Talk to someone, ANYONE, and please get help.
  3. Better be careful groundhog or i'll reveal my stash of your pics
  4. By the way I know this should be in the MMA section but I have access to pics of Y2 in a pink bed with a pink comforter so I can get away with it ;D
  5. I just talked to him at work and he was talking about dropping to 145 and maybe the WEC, this must of just cropped up at the last minute. The win's over Pat Curran and Gideon Ray had put him on some people's radar
  6. Big congrats goes out to Darren Elkins for getting a shot in the UFC, he'll be facing Duane "Bang" Ludwig as a late replacement for Spencer Fisher on the Versus card in late March. Huge chance for the Portage state champ from a few years back and lets hope he looks good. Good luck Darren
  7. I tried that Xcard, I was gonna get ontherise to do it but he said he would handle it. I think he just felt more comfortable with me because he knows me (maybe he was right with ontherise's comment about the FCC fines) either way I hope he covers next weekend but your probably right about the girls basketball taking over. Never know though if enough people e-mail WJOB or call there and request it he might come back out.
  8. Sorry ontherise I tried but JED said he would handle it then threw the headset at me after about 3 matches and said "your doing it because I know nothing about wrestling". Groundhog I agree with everything you said, i'm sure there was some awkward moments and silence but like I said I had no intentions of even being on the air and we didn't set up who was gonna do color or play by play. I think WJOB would be open to doing the semi-state finals if he got some positive feed back during the week, and if it happens hopefully we can be better prepared. Any media coverage for wrestling is a positive thing in my book.
  9. Hats off to Jim Dedelow and WJOB 1230AM for coming out tomorrow to cover the Calumet Regional, they will be going on around 12:45 to re-cap the morning and then will broadcast the finals live, it will also be streamed live at heyregion.com for those out of the broadcast area. Tune in and you just might hear dolphaholic on the air (Y2 knows how well I can cover an event)
  10. They had 2 different articles last week about girl wrestlers from 2 different schools, nothing at all against girls wrestling but if your gonna run wrestling articles on two different days, dontcha think they would of had two totally different type of stories? I think all the good wrestlers from the Times coverage area should join bowling leagues, then at least they'll have a chance to get their names in the paper.
  11. I'm slightly disappointed that some of these guys arent going into the UFC just cuz of the possible matchups but I am totaly stoked about Strikeforce finally resolving the EliteXC debacle, I cant wait to start seeing some of these upcoming fights and future matchups, Strikeforce is a pretty solid org. and should be around for quite some time. A sidenote about Kimbo is that Bas is not training him anymore and has said he wont ever train him again, something to do with Kimbo not following instructions and just doing his own thing.
  12. Isn't D-ray alot bigger than Eddie? Might be a moot point anyway cuz I heard he (Wineland that is) recently re-signed with the WEC (probably for the Chicago area show if nothing else)
  13. BJ dominates the 1st 2 rounds then starts to fade from the 3 on and loses another close decision, I also think this fight has the potential to be kinda boring cuz both are so skilled it could turn into a boring chess match. Isn't Munster grad Stephan Bonnar on this card also?
  14. Probably Bralio's 2 top fighters; Jared "Spiderman" McMahon and D-ray Davis beyond that I have no clue. I have heard that if Spiderman wins he will fight Eddy Wineland (ex WEC champ) next.
  15. Vitors KO of Lindland was one of the scariest KO's i've ever seen, I seriously thought he might die in the ring the way he was twitching, AA might of been in the same boat had Fedor hit one more time on the ground. All in all it was a pretty good card but Tito is absolutely horrible as an anouncer, brutal! By the way dont miss the WEC on VS tonight at 8:30 central Faber/Pulver rematch for the co-main event, looks like a decent card.
  16. Just to clear up some bad info I gave out earlier. I talked to someone in the Elkins circle yesterday and he said Darren has a 4 fight deal on the table with the WEC but he has to get some medical issue cleared up before signing it (not sure what the issue is though) Should be in the WEC soon.
  17. Article from mmajunkie.com Miguel Torres vs. Brian Bowles set to headline WEC 40 in Chicago by John Morgan on Jan 19, 2009 at 11:40 pm ET A long-rumored title fight between WEC bantamweight champion Miguel Torres (35-1 MMA, 4-0 WEC) and undefeated challenger Brian Bowles (7-0 MMA, 4-0 WEC) is now set for WEC 40. Sources close to the bout notified MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) that bout agreements had been issued for the as-yet-unannounced event. WEC 40 is scheduled for April 5, and while an exact venue has not yet been determined, the event will represent the WEC's first trip to Chicago. MMAjunkie.com first reported the possibility of a Torres vs. Bowles titile fight shortly after Bowles' submission win over Will Ribeiro at "WEC 37: Torres vs. Tapia" in December 2008. Sources close to the organization indicated at that time that Bowles had been tagged as the No. 1 contender to Torres' 135-pound title. Now Bowles will get the chance to tackle the WEC's hottest commodity on Torres' home turf. Hailing from East Chicago, Ind., just across the Indiana state line from Chicago, Torres has a nine-year history of fighting in around the Chicago metropolitan area. In addition to the hometown crowd's vocal support, Torres will also bring a 16-fight win streak with him into the cage. Torres last -- and only -- taste of defeat came in November 2003. Additional sources also told MMAjunkie.com that a No. 1 contender bout in the bantamweight division has also been added to the WEC 40 card. Eleven-year veteran Jeff Curran (29-10-1 MMA, 2-2 WEC) and undefeated 24-year-old Joseph Benavidez (9-0 MMA, 1-0 WEC) have agreed to meet in a bout to determine who will be the next challenger to the 135-pound title. Curran will be dropping to 135 pounds after consecutive losses to the WEC's best featherweights, Mike Brown and Urijah Faber. Benavidez has reeled off nine-straight wins since his 2006 debut. The streak includes six submission and two TKO victories. For the latest on WEC 40, stay tuned to the MMA Rumors section of MMAjunkie.com.
  18. After Y2 wouldnt let me post a pic of the "HEDGEHOG" (Ron Jeremy) I'm glad to see this site is all about the wrestling and serious business
  19. Most famous duo ever? Clive and Otto!!!!!! End of thread!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. BW's has better wings but Hooters has better breast's! ;D (4 years running now i've been able to use that joke )
  21. I can't for the life of me figure out who's gonna take this one. They both seem like good guys so I dont even know who I want to win but I have a feeling this is gonna be an awesome fight, leaning towards Hendo but I wouldnt bet on it. Any thoughts?
  22. 5 / 6 - 0. One of his fights is on youtube I think
  23. Have you ever been to a Britney Spears concert and if yes what was your favorite song?
  24. Just heard Darren Elkins signed with the WEC, I'll get confirmation and report back. Talked to him last week about it and he said he was close to signing so it's probably true
