  1. hello, looks like most of the favorite teams won..how lout was it for MD vs Bellmont? Is this a history making team state, since i t probably is discontinued after this yr? i guess semi finals round starts around 12:30?
  2. Hello, First of all good luck to all the wrestlers and fans for what apparently is the last team state championships.. For the life of me why the IHSAA is making this the last year of team state. OF coure this is the same hs athletic organization ruined state hs basketball and making it a class event..why? If this is the last team state for IN hs wrestling I will make a prediction of the proposed new format that will be in December will be a oomplete disaster....If you hold it in december you sill have both football and basketball to contend with in that month...wrestling teams just starting the season and coaches probably have no idea what line up to put on the mats in some cases...shame on the IHSAA disconitnuing an excting hs wrestling event
  3. well stated by the above posters..FS wrestling is simply boring wrestling..nutty rules...just not good old american folksytle wrestling
  4. It might be a upset that Mater Dei had 9 state qualifers but not one wrestlers in the finals...who knows?
  5. Lots of action on the mat for the afinals match. But looked like Petrov made a nice comeback and earned his points. Overall, I dont think the referee determined the outcome of the match. The wrestlers did.
  6. Excellent point the guru. You are exactly correct. Both HS and College NCAA wrestling is fantastic...Freestyle quite frankly boring wrestlings. I mean you have that best of 2.3 format for the periods and the dumbest rulee of all with a clinch. That clinch rule would never ever be used in folkstyle wrestling ever.. Fans want to see points and pins period. Freestyle doesnt allow for that for the most part. Freestyle just not exciting, low scoring, and wasted time with the referee blowing the whistle telling the wrestlers back to neutral..way too much standing around..wasted time Folkstyle is tradition and hopefully remains in the usa for a long time!
  7. Hello, not sure If we can make it to conseco/ or what bankerslife arena for IN hs state wrestling..Just wondering all the info do's and don'ts of attending IN hs state wreslting? When do gates open on friday? sat? lines? how much for food? best restaurants? fan bases of teams to avoid? what about saved seats? where to park, costs? are there good seats in the upper arena? thanks
  8. I sincerely hope they keep the same team state format likes its been over the last 14 plus years. Keep the same date and location at Center Grove. The article has some very good points about this issue and some good arguments have been raised. I believe keeping the team state right after the Indiv state tournament is huge. Like the coach said, the sesaon extends another week and wrestlers can compete again at team state. Im not sure if the class format will work at all? I hate throw basketball into this but look what making the state basketball Indiana tournament, its lost a lot of prestige...instead of the old format... Moving it to Dec/Jan you still fighting football and basetball for good media coverage and attention and the Christmas holiday... Just keep the same team state format ISHAA@@@@
  9. very good candidates..keep them coming..fill up the womens bracket...very nice
  10. some very good candidates...lets set up a womens wrestling bracket and wrestle it off some good prospects so far, but theres plenty of openings still available
  11. ok, lets give big braves a two point takedown....Sure who who have wrestled get extra points but coach a wrestling team or officiate that counts the same as well...
  12. Now that the wrestling season is coming to a close I thought it would be nice to get the input on the most knowledgable female on the topic of wrestling. Matchick and others and posted very informative notes on this sites and it would be nice to give kudos to them, and see what woman is the most knowlegable wrestling fan? Cast your votes...
  13. amen...center grove the mecca of IN wrestling
  14. A Tradition like none other..INdiana team state saturday, last weekend in february! Mark your calendar
  15. you might get to watch the semis now..course perry meridan is the primary focus wrestling team so if PM wins you get the finals video and if they dont, you go home and get nothing ...

  17. wow , good move by the cp coach? whats the score? md vs cp now???
  18. what the other team scores? the Md vs cp update/ score please? thanks
  19. Did Sarah Hildebradt win her team state match for Penn? She is the first female ever i think to compete in a team state final in IN???
  20. hello, the perry meridan team state match is at www.ihigh.com you can watch it now..just one mat though
  21. hello, you can watch Perry Meridan match right now at www.ihigh.com but just one mat, perry meridan
  22. You have some good suggestions. Im not sure if the attendance would be that huge for three classes of team state wrestling duals???? I think Center Grove HS has to be given kudos for hosting Team State over the years. They have a excelllent gym and about 99 percent of any high school in the country would love to have the type of gym facility that Center Grove has. Its kind of amazing that Center Grove doesnt have much of a wrestling tradition. They have never fielded a very competitive team dual team and I dont have the ISHAA state champs with me, but doubtful they have produced many IN hs state champs. However, the athletic staff at Center Grove deserves a huge "thumbs up" for Hosting IN Team State every year. ;D
  23. Ok, you make a excellent point there. However, my point is just how many IN hs wrestling teams have disrespected the Team state concept of always trying to win the state dual match and not hold back any wrestlers etc... My point is that over the last decade, the percentages are very small overall. Plus, its something that the ISHAA doesnt need to hear about in the overall concept for the Team State. I mean im sure just a team or two didnt change the team state champions such as Mishawauka, EMD, and all the other IN hs teams that won a Team state championship. Im sure the team state concept has worked very well in both OHIO and MI. Also, I believe the IN HS wrestling has carved out their own wrestling tradition of holding the team state one week after the Individual states. There is tremendous interest in hs wrestling in Indiana, just check all the postings on this excellent wrestling site. Indiv State and Team State matches just a part of this excellent wrestling site. I dont think any wrestler whose won a team state title of the history of the tournament could care less if one team (who probably never made the team state finals) would hold back just one wrestler from competing. I certainly dont see any of the 8 teams holding back wrestler once they arrive at Center Grove on Team State Saturday. That one team who held back a wrestler to compete in team state was back in 2003..8 yrs ago....but your point is well taken.............
