I believe Deters lost to Dickens early in the year at 152.

Now I think it’s time for Micic to step up and wrestle Lee. I think this would be more entertaining than when Rivera stepped up to take on Micic. Who you got?
Michigan and Penn St. have already wrestled this season, so it ain't happening this year.

I think Radnovich may have pinned everybody he wrestled his sr year.

If you would like to better compare era’s you could also look at pin % based on the total number of matches wrestled. This would help a little with comparing stats when you are dealing with a large match differential.
I think Ellis pinned somewhere around 86% of his opponents over his career. I don't believe you'll find a higher career %.

Looks like MD92 may have gotten a new account??? Lol. Love dem nameless Emd trolls! Must be the “cool” thing to do there. @UncleJimmy
Seriously I think both teams are great. I think Avon has a shot to finish higher than Emd at state. Good luck to both teams. I have been a team leader in many teams with Emd guys. Always tough. Furthermore ALWAYS respectful and funny kids. I really do enjoys seeing these kids have success.
Wrong. Nice try though. Also, I am no longer nameless since being unmasked by the administration of this site.

Went through the brackets at lunch. Here are my picks in order
106: Freeman, Miller, Garcia, Mirlanes
113: Ross, Dalton, Watson, Nelson
120: Boarman, Montgomery, Littell, Gardner (Before Team Garcia calls me a homer again, I fully acknowledge that I am a homer with this pick and Littell can definitely win)
126: Rioux, Egli, Lawhead, Meier
132: Garcia, Boe, Campbell, Egli (Look at that, I picked two Avon kids in a row!!)
138: Rooks, Sego, Kreitzer, Mayer
145: Lee, Fulks, Kervin, Koontz
152: Dickens, Schoenegge, Conley, Ross
160: Pruett, Asbury, Ruhlman, Schank
170: South, Parkinson, Blubaugh, Jean-Baptist
182: Brewer, Bellemy, Kemper, Nix
195: Nunn, Kenny, Willham, Wampler
220: Bolte, Aiken, Stewart, Pinaire
285: Keys, Sidibe, Biddle, Kramer
I have Brownsburg with 10 Qualifiers, MD with 9, Avon and Bloom South with 5 each. Looks like a two horse race for the championship with Brownsburg and MD.

Of coarse you didn’t, why wouldn’t I pick them ? Might be because the second toughest schedule in the State. They wrestled in the toughest Sectional, Regional. They seen the best for the past 3 months, my kids go there, they been tested right .
Must be upset I only picked a few of EMD wrestlers to make it. I’d say something to . Go ahead make your own picks homer.
The Notorious
Oh, the irony of calling me a homer. Don't be so defensive, very few teams have ever taken 9 to state. You are well aware that one slip up at this level means you are done. Upsets happen every year and this year will be no different. Could very easily happen to some MD kids. You just never know. Once I have a chance to dig into the brackets I will make my picks.

Yep, I seen that. That's hard work to eat like that!!! I just think Mason will get exponentially better compared to his opponents who likely have more wrestling. Man strength vs Boy strength is a big deal though!
Yes, he will get much better. Just not soon enough this season to beat the likes of Cassar, Steveson, etc. If he can AA this year it will be a great accomplishment. I can see him in the 6-8 range or losing in the round of 12.

Talked about this a couple times recently...I think Mason can beat him, or make it much more competitive. Cassar "old manned" Mason. Mason got blasted early and that was unexpected. After that I felt that Mason took some shots that were shots to take shots and weren't as strategic or set up as they could've been. Cassar capitalized with some nice re shots. Mason has amazing coaches and great partners and they will make adjustments. Mason was an anomaly in Indiana as he was probably the best athlete we've had at 220 in this state. His wrestling has improved so much. Mason was a multi sport athlete and his ceiling is limitless IMHO. I could see Mason wrestling a slower/more strategic pace and being more intentional and "picking" his shots and not taking the shots to where Cassar can hit a cheap re shot on him.
Gelen Robinson says hello.
Not saying you are wrong, but Cassar also has tremendous coaches and has two Olympic gold medalists (Cael and Varner) to work out with. Don't see Mason beating him this season. They said Cassar was on a 7k calorie diet. Ate 10 eggs every morning, grilled chicken throughout the day and a pound of ground beef before bed.

I don't see Avon going 9 for 9. There are always upsets and no team goes unscathed.
-
Then I take back my comment about the other coach not showing integrity. With this explanation, it sounds like things were done correctly.

You see it ALMOST every year with Boonville. They come in with great records, talked up on the board (mainly by Boonville people), and they almost never perform come State Tournament time. They were possibly the favorites to win the Big 8 and fell to 3rd. We’ll see if these 3-4 individuals can prove us wrong on Saturday, but I’ll have to agree that none of these matchups with Sutton, Overton, and Fulks will be close.
North Posey used to be like that back in the old days. They'd come in to the Castle regional with guys with only 1 or 2 losses and their seasons would end there.

Michigan could try to bump their line up any way they can, but they aren't beating Penn St. no matter what they do.

How about this for a monkey wrench? Does Michigan gamble?
Say Roman Bravo Young is unlikely to wrestle. Does Michigan put their number 2 guy on the mat at 133, bump Micic up to wrestle Lee at 141 and bump Storr up to wrestle Berge/Verkleeren at 149?
Of course, they won't know about RBY for sure until after they put their wrestler on the mat (as the away team). So big risk, but potentially big reward? There are weight rules to consider too (can't stray to far from their normal weight or they risk the next match too). But is the chance to end a 54 match win streak enough incentive to get a little jiggy with it?
No, very rare to bump guys up in college. The skill level is generally too close to overcome the weight disadvantage. Especially since duals mean next to nothing in college, there really is no point.

The coach of the kid that benefitted from this mistake could have shown some integrity as well and not accepted the win.
-
Massa is 12-3 with 8 of his wins being bonus points, so I don't know about him not being too sharp. I've only seen Michigan vs Ohio St this year. Massa has 3 losses, all to top 10 kids, this year. I'm not saying he'll beat Joseph, but I think he keeps it under a major.
-
Joseph only beat Massa 5-4 at Big Tens last year, and it was a close 5-3 match in their dual until Joseph hit an inside trip for 6 in the last 30 seconds to win 11-3. A major isn't out of the question, but I suspect it will be rather close.

Thank you. That’s ridiculously impressive to me. Would love some additional details of that team if anyone reading this has any?
Were they literally just that balanced from a talent standpoint? We’re they pushed by any other talented schools that year? Surely......they were a nightmare to dual right?
Mater Dei was runner up and had one champ, 2 4ths and a 6th
Looks like Belmont had a 6th, 3 2nds and a 4th.

This has got to be a joke. He had him beat today. He didn’t get a stall call in the neutral position. He got them while he was on TOP CONTROLLING LEE. I seriously do not understand what you all have against CJ. The fact that he does a little dance to celebrate after big wins? Reece Humphrey literally break dances after matches and it’s all fun. CJ does a dance in good spirit after people doubt him and it’s, “Have some class, act like you’ve been there before.” The hypocrisy when it comes to this kid is ridiculous and it’s a shame you all hate to see him succeed.
I think it has more to do with the antics of the father after the Lee match than what CJ did. Just my opinion.

Cathedral and Columbus E would be my personal picks as front runners. Cathedral.....because of their QUALITY depth. If they have 5-6 guys in the finals it wouldn’t be some crazy over-accomplishment. I voice Columbus E due to them having what I personally believe to be a couple solid front runners to get it all the way done. Strong arguments could be made for each of these teams. Especially Avon if things go their way. But when you look at the depth of MD, the coaching and possible State Champs of other programs mentioned......draws are going to be paramount in the team race. Semi-final matches could literally determine the Team Champs.
In fact.......has there ever been a Team Championship won by a program without an individual champion? Just curious due to my relative infancy following high school wrestling.
Now humor me if you would....and play “What Could Have Been!” Had things went differently at barely big enough for 4 syllables Shenandoah........our just over 400 enrollment would be right in the mix.
AJ Black....Jordan Slivka......Silas Allred. In turn, if Lohrey & Pugsley make a run towards the top of the podium, it could’ve been historic! I voice these things because this year was the “Target year” when the team was comprised and taking shape 5 yrs ago. Fun to think about.......but only if it’s fleeting. Stings too much to dwell on it .
Belmont won in 1987 without an individual champion.
