  1. Yep, your right. My attitude will be the demise of wrestling . I'm glad that wrestling will at least have you. Come join some of the work the Iswa does, they aren't all bad guys. Just me and my attitude. But we would be willing to have the help
  2. Yes, there is a section director that is supposed to be at each meeting. I am not exactly sure why the ISWA meeting that has held the same date for 25 years has to change for one tourney (and it is a very good tourney, giving that full props!!). People make choices, go to one or the other, or get a parent from your club to be your club rep at the meeting. It doesn't have to be a coach. 2 prominent wrestlers quit, hundred others join. I wish nobody every quit, but some do. I know the board of directors tries very hard to accommodate as many as possible, but they can't please everyone. Join on and make a difference, rather than just suggest things on forums. This is an open invite - I coach football, wrestling, our schools S and C, teach, and still go to all ISWA, IHSWCA, and all my USAW coaches council meetings. It is n't easy, but its how we make a difference. Would love the help!
  3. it can, come in and make the pitch - somebody just has to make the motion. either one can change their date. just saying that is why it is where it is
  4. Here is why the ISWA Meeting is on this date, and has been for 25+ years: ISWA Bi-Laws on ISWA.com Article V. Meetings Section 1. The corporation shall have one Annual Meeting per year. a) the meeting for the corporation shall be held the second Sunday in September

  9. Well, I am just hoping someone shows me up by getting a bunch of donors for the ihswca, that would sure prove me wrong.
  10. So - I am guessing you are not volunteering Karl? Just running down the list of who will help and who will post suggestions.
  11. volunteers, just as the organizers for the event are volunteering and their time is taken up on getting the venue, mats, contracts for teams, awards, mis.... next step is getting more volunteers for things such as calling.............. ihsaa is a paid organization, when they get that corporate partner they get paid. more volunteers needed.
  12. Great practice last night with IU's Matt Powless - 25 guys from Jeff, NA, and Ctown. He went over some great body lock throws, a few Hi-C finishes, and an awesome inside trip - then wrestled the kids live. He was a class act!!! Next Tuesday will be our last scheduled RTC of the school year, then we will have open mat in evenings in the summer. Next Tuesday is Lindsey Wilson College head coach Corey Ruff - 4:30 - 6:15; helping us get ready for Central Regionals!

  14. When people say "Lets ask _________ (insert venue)" does that mean "have someone else ask___________" ? Just wondering. Trent McCormick is a worker. When he sayed he called everyone, he literally called everyone. he didn't want to take it that far north, but when nobody takes hosting it, or just can't host it, he made the event happen. Another one I have liked is "Lets host it at the convention center or pepsi collesium" - that takes some revenue. I for one was not going to put it on my credit card and just hope to get the money back. Maybe there is a coach out there willing to take the risk with their credit card? Maybe one of you out there saying "Let's" is willing to do that? "Lets" get a financial backer for this" - again, there is the "lets" when one says this do they have the financial backer for that? if they have it, please bring it forward. If they have the sponsor, please bring it forward. "We" (the IHSWCA) would love to have it! When someone says "Let's" I hope that means your going to jump on board and help trent find the venue, and the backing. he works his butt off to do this for kids around the state, and I am happy he does it. it would not happen, or have ever happened without Trent McCormick. While I was president I got a nearly daily email on what schools or venues he called, what questions he asked them, and what the pros and cons were. Much of the time it was him taking off school to drive to another city to see the venue. So, when he says this is what we can afford, and this is what will fit comfortably. He researched it. Thank you trent!!!! "Let's" help him out, if you have ideas - please pursue them and then help him out. Quit saying "let's" and say "I", it is a much better way to volunteer your time, rather than volunteer someone else's time. Soap box over. And no Tyson, I didn't just have a mental breakdown. Just feel I can voice now and leave the back lash to you

  21. exactly right joe - it would be a change for all sports not just one
  22. Not saying I agree or disagree - just stating some things - of course their are rebutles for and against - I am just stating basketball and football don't have it, why do we need it (I know your arguments there - just stating) that is one that always comes up some others: "as an AD I would hate it if I heard my kid won two matches at semi-state, and still didn't go to state" "you guys want to have the wrestle backs to get your kid through, what about all the kids you got through because there wasn't wrestle backs" "with wrestle backs a kid can actually beat a state qualifier at semi-state and he still not go to state" " I like that the underdog has a chance at a big match to get through, but those kids won't normally have 2 big matches in them" "we are here to find the state champion, 86% of the state champs win their semi-state, getting the kid through on a wrestle back will rarely be the state champ" these are not my answers - just ones I heard that were interesting statements. and lastly (which is one that I found interesting) - 42% of your coaches voted against it - I had not idea that so many people were against it, but that is what our poll of 230+ coaches showed.
