  1. Got the word from IHSAA. No scoring Friday night.
  2. Joe, I hope you are right. I asked Faulkens to address it and I did get a return saying he would look into it. I know the bulletin says that but I specifically said the state tournament to him and he did not tell me it was being scored. . I also know he said he wanted every level to follow the same format as far as scoring. But, according to the bulletin, first round should score. It should have scored at the semi state as well but for some reason they came up with the new scoring system. I am just hoping for clarification. I emailed him again so if I get info I will post it.
  3. This makes the team championship so tainted. Whether we win it or not, someone is going to get screwed. Lets see, no wrestlebacks to make sure the best kids are going which helps with deep teams. No points being scored for team at every round. This tournament is so much based on luck of the draw and so many other factors such as scoring issues we are discussing that I really dont know how anyone could say that whatever team wins state this weekend was the IHSAA Team State Champions. It could really hurt teams with many kids making it thru which is a sign of a good team.
  4. Can someone please give me a better explanantion as to why the IHSAA does not score the first round of the semi state and the first round of the state. I understand what the IHSAA did by not scoring until the quarters in the sectional due to a team winning by getting more ffts. The notion that every level should be the same is unreal. We are wrestling matches but not keeping score. This is the answer to dropping team state. Crown a team that may or may not have scored as many points as another team. At some point the IHSAA has to listen to wrestling people to make wrestling decisions. So we are wrestling but not keeping points. Who has heard of a sporting event without keeping score.
  5. Congrats to the Perry Meridian Middle School Team for winning Individual Middle School State at the middle school level. Even the kids that did not place wrestled hard in some tough brackets. Congrats to placewinners Riley Miller, Rodrigo Diaz, Noah Warren, state runner up Aaron Cravens and State champ Tristen Tonte. Keep the great season rolling boys.

  7. PMMS wrestled the combined lynhurst and Chappell hill jr high schools teams. Thanks to Ben Davis for hosting the event. PMMS 76 BD 23. Great Job Lil Falcons. Good luck this weekend at middle school state.
  8. Donte was nominated as I believe Molloy was. I am assuming they did not get picked since the team is posted. Great honor for both though.
  9. Great meet. Warren Central combined Creston, Stonybrook and Raymond Park to put one team together. Final Score PMMS 88 Warren All Stars 17
  10. Congrats to all the teams at this tournament. I was really impressed with the quality of wrestling. Yorktown's lighter weights were very technically sound and tough as nails. Coach McCormack and crew do a great job of preparing their kids for battle. Coach Richardson, Alexander, Payton and Steward from PM have really put together a great line up this year and are really setting up the future Falcons squad for success at the high school level. Great job PM coaches and wrestlers, keep it rolling. Coach Tonte
  11. What a great tournament. I want to thank Jim Littlejohn for keeping the tournament going even with a change of venue. Also thanks to Franklin for hosting the tournament last minute. Great competition and atmosphere.

  13. Ok I guess I didn't say it loud enough for you scholar. We have wrestled Moeller about 5 or 6 times and Montini twice in the last several years at Disney Duals. Whats cool about Moeller and Perry is we both use what is most likely the next years line up. Montini was actually stronger than their regular team because at Disney Duals you can pick up three studs not on your team and they did and they whipped us good. That was a few years ago. We also take our middle school team over Christmas break to Cincinnati and wrestle in Elder's tournament which includes tough Kentucky teams as well as Moeller. We know the Moeller kids very well Last year Alex Dolly set up a dual with us and St Johns before a Michigan State Big Ten Dual. My AD would not let us travel for one meet. I wasn't happy but I kept my job at Perry so I can feed my wife and 4 boys Also as I said we were looking at wrestling Moeller and Detroit C Catholic but we added team state and could not fit it in. So we had to settle for sending 10 kids to Fargo and having 5 AA last two years there. If my stats are correct only Blair had more last year. We are not afraid to take a butt whipping. Nationally ranked Mater Dei teams have spanked us several times. And I would venture to say, Y2 help me on this one, we wrestle darn near the toughest schedule in Indiana. Everything goes in cycles. We are pretty good but other teams will surpass as soon and we will have to work hard to try and get it back to where we can compete at the level scholar wants to see us at.
  14. We are real familiar with Moeller. We have wrestled them for about 8 years now at the middle school level and beat them probably 5 times. We have wrestled them at Disney with both of our line ups being very very close to the next seasons line up and again have beaten them 4 out of 5 times I believe. Don't quote the stats because I don't have the actual brackets with me but yes we have gotten the better of them a few times and one or two times they put it on us. Last year they invited us ( for this year )to a double dual with Detroit Central Catholic. I had to decline due to IHSWCA team state. My AD would not let us travel to St Johns last year for a dual before a mich state big ten dual. It would have been awesome and we would have gotten thumped but it would have been worth it.
  15. Congrats Coaches and Wrestlers from Perry Meridian for winning the Middle School state this past weekend. Great Job guys. Lots of big matches coming up. Good luck the rest of the season.
  16. The top three teams Perry 243.5. Moeler 215. 17. Again, some are missing my point here. First, thanks for all who have been working towards making it a better tournament. But, I wish this info would have come out prior to us all telling our communities that this was coming and for a group of people to know what was really going on. Also, we can let this slide on the scoring. I would hate for Warren to have a bunch of champs and New Pal or vice versa have a heck of a bunch of 5th placers and the team with 5th placers win the Regional due to the extra scoring for the 5th place kid. We can not let this happen. Its not fair to anyone involved. Also, I understand why we dont score from first round of sectionals due to luck of draw on byes and ffts but why would we not score the first round of semi state. Everyone is in. NO byes. How can you have an athletic contest and not score it while you are keeping a team score. Please help me make sense out of all of this. Again, I am busy as all get out right now but first things coming to mind. Need some clarification.
  18. And as several others can do, I can show you the email with Mr. Faulkens telling me we are wrestling back to third!! Probably before he met with the power above!!
  19. ok I did not think long about this so I could be off. Someone help me here, but this could really screw up team scores. So the fifth place kid(alt) could score more than the kid advancing to the semi state. So a team with 10 fifth place kids could win the tournament over a team filled with higher place winners possibly. You get an advantage for wrestling for fifth place over that of a better kid who is in the top four. Am I wrong? Let me know. Just a quick thought!!
  20. Schoettle once threw a straw thru a telephone poll
  21. Then why am I driving around a beat up 1999 Saturn, hobbeling around like I have been shot and keeping bill collectors off my back by hiding in the dungeon at school. Sir, I know Chuck Norris and you are no Chuck Norris!! lol Listen up. I am not Jesus Christ, Santa Clause nor the Easter Bunny. I am just a wrestling coach. (sounds like a movie I once watched) By the way, Aidan Kenny is a 120 lber. Cody LeCount is 132 and Brandon James is 126. To get the record straight Aidan wrestled in place of Brandon due to Ngun Uk being pretty darn good at 120 and Brandon having his appendix taken out.
  22. That must be a typo. Cody is at 132. Not sure where that came from?
  23. Aidan does not have a varsity record. That is a typo.
  24. I will have them today. I believe PM won by 60. It was 309 to 249.5 or something like that. I will get official results and post them.
