just a little update from big ten's. Kinser beat, really didn't look very good. alcala beat by msu guy. wright did beat #1 ruff, looked good. Young beat Salazar and looked good. Taylor next. Howe is back won twice in dominate fashion. You just can't help but root for this guy. I sat in the iowa section and even the Iowa people were cheering for him. Kennedy from Illinois won twice, this is a great weight class. General comments Iowa, Minnesota and Penn State appear to be on a different level. The conditioning is just better. Saw several Michigan guys gassing in the 1st period. Taylor is not human. Northwestern bleachers are just like New Castle.......butt hurts in 10 minutes

The Milan 5-way is actually a rotating event between Milan and South Dearborn as hosts. This year it is at South Dearborn. The teams historically have been Milan, South Dearborn, Union County, Batesville and Lawrenceburg.

If we had class wrestling people on this board would be flooding it with "Well so and so is the real Champ". For example," Well Brooks is the real 103 Champ, he would kill Phillips". Cody had his chance, just like any other small school athlete, to sit on the top PERIOD.

Very impressive win. The thing I noticed was how the loss was taken. No fits, no bad sportsmanship. Just class in a loss. A great lesson for all to learn. -
This might be the most ridiculous thing I have heard the IHSAA try to control. (NOTE: I said might). If you are trying to control a kid or anyone elses weight on a day by day basis in the tenths of pounds you are a fool. It is simply not possible. Y2 you are correct in the team regional weight issue, the IHSAA is setting up a situation where the rule would be violated by numerous wrestlers. If a wrestler gets an extra pound of course he will use it. It might be nothing more than a bottle of water on the way to a meet. The 7% minimum body fat is a good rule. It keeps kids from cutting too much, but daily limits turns us all into bean counters and offers no protection for the kids. Looks to me like a don't ask don't tell policy and crucify the ones who are tattled on. On another note, where is the coaches association on this issue? Sounds like something the association should be all over.

This tournament is a blind draw. We see the brackets the morning we show up. Lots of scratches at the coaches meeting and VERY rarely is the weight class re-drawn. You can have forfeits in that push you to day 2 with 1 win. A few years ago at 215 Panko of Avon and Wolf of East Central met in the opening round! Happens every year.

The "Credit" for this accomplishment goes to 2 young men who work there tail off to be the best that they can be. To the parents of these 2 young men who have for YEARS! hauled them around to camps, tournaments and practices so they can be the best that they can be. They have fought through injuries, sickness, criticism and for this year anyway weather (South Dearborn Sectional), In them beats the heart of a Champion, win or lose these young menwill be successful. The only way that semi-state location will change is if you folks up north hit the ihsaa in the wallet. That means do not go! When money stops coming in they will change it for the next year. Now that said, it is not realistic. We are wrestling people, we stand in line forever, constantly move for better views, look for not only our favorites, but also for the matches we think are best. In the end you folks will continue to go to watch what you (and many others) believe is the best semi state in indiana. Wrestling people are completely misunderstood by the ihsaa.

This is informational to let folks know the South Dearborn Sectional has been postponed. Plans are to weigh-in at 5pm monday and then finish up tuesday.

I read the post about the Evansville paper. You could just replace the name of the paper with numerous others around the state. But why does that surprise you? We have OUR OWN place to go for results and they are just as lacking. Are all the wrestling results from this last weekend in the results section? Team and/or individual results are missing from all over the state. We need to do a better job ourselves.

I know this dates me, but I remember Walt Gibson from Jennings County and Chuck Pyle from New Albany at around 138 lbs. They wrestled each other numerous times and it was always good stuff. That was around 1976 or 77. Anybody else remember these 2 guys?
