  1. Dunkel deserves to go because when the opportunity presented itself, he took care of his business. The rest, well they didn't. Congrats to Tim! He has qualified for the big dance in a way in which stories are told and retold! He get's the spirit of our sport I am sure!
  2. Have not seen the Prairie Heights or North Central young men, but they better bring their A game. Hupp is a tough and physical kid, and Stevenson - That guy is a beast!
  3. I am suprised they weren't using REAL rocks, papers, and scissors!
  4. In Indy, aren't they ALL Dream Matches?
  5. Mangold: Round 1: 8 -2 over Austin Bell of Northview (I think that was the score) Ticket Round: Lost 6 - 3 to Tyler Hupp of Indian Creek (Hupp is a solid wrestler and ended up 4th in this loaded class) When you take Neil Molloy of Danville, Micheal Brown of Castle, Jonathon Hoehn of Mt Vernon (Posey), and Tyler Hupp of Indian Creek, I think you can see why there are so solid kids watching from the stands next week from this Semi-State.
  6. The important thing to remember is eh Welch Boys KNOW they are not a lock. They have to wrestle their butts off to win this. What everyone else thinks is unimportant.
  7. Does anyone else see the irony of complaining about the coaches dress code when the kids on the mat are wearing a singlet? I mean think about it! Here's an idea. Let's begin each event with a fashion show!
  8. Indian Creek DOES have some fanastic Wreslers! A couple of True shots for Champs this weekend at State! Would not be surprised to see all 5 place in the top 5.
  9. Lannert's Day at Semi State: Round 1: Pinned Luke Mundy of Southridge Ticket Round: Dec Will Dewee of Franklin Comm 6-3 Semi Finalas: Loss to Phelen Montgomery of THS 11-6 Conslation Finals: Loss to Spencer Boyd of Bloomington South 7-5 in OT
  10. My Dream Match would be Doug Welch vs Chad Welch, wit Luke Welch as Ref.
  11. "Upsets" happen because Wrestling is Life, and Life is Wrestling. You will see the same type of "upsets" everyday in your personal and professional lives. The real question is "Is there ever an actual upset in Wrestling?"
  12. Two VERY strong performers. Riding him out the entire 3rd was something I didn't expect to see to be honest!
  13. Rumor is the person that started this rumor has Knightmares about Doug Welch.
  14. Chuck Norris Called...Said Doug may have hurt CHUCKS KNEE...But Doug is fine...
  15. What I am saying is 285 in this particular Regional is not what it has been in the last couple of years...For that fact neither is 189 or 215. We just don't have the level of competition for whatever reason to allow Van winkle to be given a walk over based on his record. If CP puts solid wrestlers on the mat at 171, 215, and 285...They stand a very good chance at taking those classed. 189 is also a possibility depending on which Boots shows up for that given match. In the lower weights (103 - 119 especially) this particular MD line up is not stellar. If MD wants to win, they will have to come up HUGE in a couple of places and CP will have to fall apart I am afraid. Not trying to be argumentative, but this ISN'T the MD of old. They win duals and tourneys, but the level of competition locally they have faced this year isn't what it has been in the recent past. My point to my post is look at what MD did in the Regional finals. You send that many kids to the finals, and end up with 3 champs seems to indicate to me that as a team, against high caliber competition, MD is somewhat exposed. CP brings a very strong lineup to the table. So MD will have to step it up. Like I said, just my 2 cents, and I hope they wrestle their butts off.
  16. I will say it. Lets look at MD without the rose colored glasses. MD qualifies 13 for the Evansville Semi-State. 3 champions 4 runners up 2 thirds 4 fourths 1 champion, 285, was by injury default. 1 fourth sat after qualifying for ss due to injury. The Castle Regional is no stroll in the park, but the overall parity is not what it was the last few years. I have to say CP has the edge in this duel, especially if MD is having issues at 160. Just my worthless 2 cents.
  17. Great Wrestling today! The Castle Regional will push a good number of kids on to Indy! As for the Sims question, I hate that he didn't wrestle more than once today, but after seeing the Heritage Hills kid, I can't say I would have taken the odds on Simms winning if he's injured. That kid is one physical beast! Reitz is well represented also. Some outstanding efforts today!
  18. Good Luck to Mater Dei at Team State
  19. Jon H. - New job has me busy! Love the job but takes me away from the fun
  20. Haire bumping to 171 to avoid Chad Welch. Did any remind him. He will be seeing the Returning State Champion AT THE SECTIONALS? Not to mention the Current SIAC Champ. Haire is a good competitor, and I can see 171 being an easier path to Semi-State since the Central Sectional is not overly loaded at the weight, but 160 is really no tougher. Just an observation.
