Congrats to Alec and his first year coach Alex Johns!

Markio,
Were you able to secure the separate line for fans with tickets?
-
So let me get this correct, other than soccer, wrestling, baseball, basketball and football they are just average.
and the Super Mileage Engineering team..................
-
Love the Wadesville reference. The good ole times!
-
Since school started today and nobody is talking about a new wrestler walking the halls....................................I assume the rumor of Konrath going to MD was just that - a rumor. I was hoping it was true
-
Congrats New Pal and AJ!
-
What will Mater Dei's line up potentially look like next year? They will have 3 Lee brothers with the addition of Matt. More Egli's? Konrath? Luigs, Wilderman...........................
-
So, just the 4th time in the past 20 years? I would say that is significant.
-
I apologize if this is already a topic - I did a quick scan and didn't see it. I'm sure this doesn't happen very often unless there is some sort of injury default situation?
Did anyone other than Joe Lee accomplish this feat this year? Who are some of the most recent wrestlers to pull this off? I'm sure someone will come up the all-time stat as well............

Great match. Red had a tremendous ride in the 3rd. I respect Lee's talent, style and overall approach to the sport. I respect Red's wrestling ability.

I had a similar comment in the first round of regionals when Nick Lee was tilting his opponent and was fiat on his back for a short period of time............................the ref could of freaked out and called a pin.
-
Will Konrath join up with the Lees at MD next year? If you sit out 1 year - you can change schools without a release? Could be a rumor or maybe I just had a dream about it - either way....................it would be interesting.
-
I still can't believe schools were closed today in the Evansville area. 2 hour delay would've been more than enough time to take care of the "monster" snow accumulation of 1/2"

Great article as always. I like to print it out and follow along to compare to actual results.
Markio, I also like the idea of a separate line for those who have tickets................make it happen - please!

Egli and Nick Lee's first round matches........................Egli on his back for a short time got the MD faithful's blood pumping early! Was I the only one who noticed Nick flat on his back while tilting his opponent? I know it was only for a very short period of time and all the elite guys do this move but...................this always makes me nervous in elimination rounds when a "slap happy" ref could make a quick pin call.

Sending 4 takes a little drama out of the semis as well.
-
Possibly, but they mentioned the kids by name that were lost to graduation last year. So, I doubt if that was the case.
-
The Posey County News Winter Sports preview came out today - North vs. South. I thought it was interesting that in the Mt. Vernon wrestling article there was no mention of Konrath.
-
It does seem that he's had a lot of injuries so this makes sense if a College career is the goal. I respect it and wish him well.
-
I respect the decision but I think it's a shame to end his high school career with such a promising future. Also (As Smooth 34 pointed out) if high school is hard on your body - I assume college would be worse?
Selfishly, I just hate losing a Southern Indiana guy that I can follow and cheer for on the road to State.
Good luck!

I certainly don't know the details of what happened in the Johnson / Molloy match but it must not have been cut and dry or the MD coaching staff (and others) wouldn't have reacted in the way they did. Tough day overall for MD as numerous other calls went against them late in matches. They spent a great deal of time at the scorers table.
On a positive note: the singers for God Bless America and the National Anthem were outstanding!

The National Anthem at the Evansville Semi-State was the highlight of the day! Mater Dei churns out great wrestlers and singers. Well done young lady!! Chills!!!
