  9. Well if they don't have time to research and pay attention to results, then the IHSWCA should find coaching members that do and have them replace some of the current voters.
  10. Mrs. decbell1 can't get her own screenname???
  11. Even before it crashed some of the voting was ridiculous. Some of the coaches definitely don't pay attention to results.
  12. What do you expect...heck the president of the IHSWCA is Barry Humble...got to vote for his bulldogs.
  13. I guess it all depends on the quality of the program if it was a good choice bringing in a young head coach. There are a few guys out there my age that I believe are highly capable of building and coaching a program. I've also seen some young guns come in thinking they know everything, and it all just sort of blows up in their face. In no way would I have been ready to run a team until this year. The best thing I ever did was take the assistant job at Homestead and work with Coach Pursley, who was actually just getting into his second year of coaching there. It allowed me to learn even more than what I learned growing up in the Bellmont wrestling room. But I'd have to say that Coach Willmann (Lowell) and myself made the right jump at the right time for both of us heading up solid programs.

  15. Close...the Baker family does make up about 1/3 of Decatur. Then to make it even crazier, there are actually two different set of Baker families. You have the one where Paul Baker and Jason Baker come from. Then within the other Baker family you have Doug, Randy, Ryan, Billy, Tyler, Landon, and Ben. Then still not in high school yet there are Brett and Danny. Then soon to start wrestling you have Doug's son Thadeus.
  16. oh of course you can...now you are back out of the negatives.
  17. Begging isn't good...Make some intellectual comments.
  18. You can have a wahoo for that one Combat...Of course I had to be modest...I wasn't just going to hop on this thread and rant about myself....yet
  19. You would think that the coach would know these things and be able to explain them to their wrestlers, it's not quantum physics.
  20. Joe Willmann, head coach at Lowell High School, is an outstanding young head coach. They definitely made a good choice by bringing him in to run the program.
  21. All wrestlers must have a minimum of six (6) ?qualifying? weigh-ins prior to Monday, January 26, 2009 which is the Monday prior to the sectional and the day of the seeding meetings. The six (6) qualifying weigh-ins must occur between November 17, 2008 and January 26, 2009. Additionally, one of the six (6) qualifying weigh-ins must occur in the month of January 2009 and at least one (1) of the qualifying weigh-ins must be at scratch weight for the weight class the wrestler is entered into the IHSAA tournament series. A weigh-in at scratch weight is defined as a wrestler weighing in at or below the actual poundage of the weight class (i.e. ? a wrestler weighs in at 111.9 achieves a scratch weigh in for the 112 pound weight class) A qualifying weigh-in occurs when a wrestler weighs in at or above his/her minimum weight for that date as determined by the individual wrestler?s weight management plan. As per IHSAA by-law 60-2.b, a weigh-in for a tournament shall count as one weigh-in toward the total of six (6). Technically you don't even have to wrestle a single match at the weight you decide to wrestle for sectional, just have to get enough qualifying weigh-ins.
  22. 130 looks like it's going to have some great wrestling...Harper, Quiroga, Porras, Sheets, and LaRowe.
