  1. If Fleeger comes home to Purdue, I would imagine Mason would alter his plans. We'll see.
  2. I believe the 126lbs registration was a mistake for Nathan's brother, Robert. My guess is...Nathan is going 113lbs for Freestyle State. But...you never know.
  3. This is not her (NOSOCCERMOMHERE) first rodeo for sure. Years of experience.
  4. Per Intermat. http://www.intermatwrestle.com/recruiting/commitments The best of luck!
  5. That's the one rule that I would LOVE to see come to folkstyle-------the push out. Award the same pts as in freestyle...1pt or give a warning for the 1st push out and every one after, 1pt. Just my opinion.
  6. Speaking of the future... My "call out" for the next great Indiana wrestler: NICK LEE, Mater Dei. He will immediately challenge for a state title as a Freshman and "could" win 4 titles. He's that good. You heard it here first. BTW, he's only a 7th grader right now and competes against High Schoolers at National tournaments...and wins.
  7. Congratulations Jason! Jake and I wish you the very best!! It's been a pleasure watching you compete since your middle school days. The RWA family couldn't be any more proud and we'll be traveling to Evanston to root you on!! Shane and Jake Tucker http://www.intermatwrestle.com/articles/10063?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
  8. Congrats Mason! The best of luck but a word of caution...watch out for those southern girls, they'll hurt ya! http://www.intermatwrestle.com/recruiting/commitments
  9. The RTC at Lowell is canceled this week due to Spring Break. See you next week!!!
  10. RWA's Gaige Torres at Schoolboy won the National Title as well. GREAT JOB, GAIGE!!!!!!!
  11. That's exactly what I told my son, in our sport unlike the major sports i.e. football, basketball, etc. you can actually get up close to your heroes. You would never be able to do that with LeBron james or Peyton Manning. In wrestling, you can stand next to NCAA and Olympic Champions and have a conversation. It's pretty cool.
  12. Tommy Cash defeated the 3A Illinois State Champ today, 6-3. Lost to the Ohio State Champ (barely)...he is so dang tough!!!! (not to mention...a great kid too!)
  13. I was fortunate enough to watch the Tsirtsis brothers today at the UNIDOME. I have to say that I am so proud to be a part of their organization, leadership, and vision. Both brothers are wonderful examples to my son and they have helped him tremendously. Thanks Alex and Jason! You guys are class acts!!! On another note, it was the WHO'S WHO of wrestling in Cedar Falls at the USAW Folkstyle Nationals. I was standing there matside watching Jason Tsirtsis defeat Darion Caldwell all the while Cael Sanderson was standing adjacent to me talking to Kevin Jackson. Next to them was Barry Davis. The list goes on and on...it was like wrestling heaven for a person like me! LOL-----good stuff!
  14. Well, if the IHSAA allowed wrestlebacks, you wouldn't have the question of "who is better" because when you don't have an opportunity to wrestle it off, that's what happens. If a wrestler gets a better draw, well you know the rest... For example? 106 and 113...BLUE takes GOLD IMO. All are great wrestlers, don't get me wrong, it's just my opinion.
  15. If we are talking about this particular sequence and not how other calls were made on the edge, I'll call it NO TAKEDOWN. The left arm at the knee, right arm at the ankle and the head was stuffed. If he gets the head out to one side or another, I would say YES, it's a takedown. Since his head stayed stuffed, I say NO TAKEDOWN. Remember, the question is about THIS PARTICULAR takedown not some other TD on the edge, etc. as it compares to this sequence.
  16. Good luck on your retirement, Coach Harding and the best of luck in your new endeavor. Hey NEW PAL...IMO, better hire Chad Red as your new HC, don't let that one slip away! Here's a guy that is extremely committed to the kids and qualified, what a great hire he would be.
  17. The Lowell Wrestling Club pays a coach. This was started 2 years ago, I believe?
  18. If you are talking about the Top 25 teams, what matters most is the wrestler's resume vs. top competition both in state and across the nation. I believe this is the NUMBER 1 criteria in recruiting. You can have multiple state titles but if you can't hang with the best in the nation, it's going to hurt that particular wrestler. How has the wrestler fared at the national tournaments? etc.
  19. Jchas, Much Thanks... Your son wrestled very tough and will also be one to look for on the podium next year!
  20. You can't do both. It is my understanding that you have to choose either junior high or IKWF. Years ago I found out through some conversations at a summer wrestling camp in Illinois that middle school/junior high wrestling in Illinois is a joke. I think it is starting to get better now but for years the good wrestlers in Illinois never wrestled for their junior high. I found that very odd because in Indiana, all of the wrestlers participate (for the most part) for their school. Just different wrestling cultures between two states.
  21. I want to give Kudos to Tommy Cash! He brought his "A" game and showed just how physically strong he is...what a tough kid! My son (Jake Tucker) has wrestled him in the finals before and we know how tough Tommy is...I just want to congratulate him and Brandi/Tom for a great tournament. It's time to get ready for IOWA!!!! --Mr. Tucker
  22. A few years ago, Blake Ress sat right next to me and said, "I don't see a problem with this set-up". CLUELESS. Totally CLUELESS. I was shocked, I couldn't believe it!
  23. Y2, That's the key. Depth. People just don't realize how deep Illinois is with their talent pool. Not to mention, they are arguably the best wrestling state in the nation based off of several stats from FARGO and JUNIOR DUALS, etc. Ohio, NJ, and Pennsylvania are right there too so it could be a spirited debate but Illinois is definitely in the conversation. Overall, Champ vs. Champ, Indiana is competitive with them but when you have to start diving down into the placers to get kids, that's where Illinois has a huge advantage. We didn't have Brooks and a couple of others but Illinois didn't either, they still had a lot of studs on the shelf.
  24. Incredible. One angle=definite NF pts. Other angle=definitely NOT NF pts, doesn't break 45 degrees. Wow.
