  2. Looks like BS and WC will face off at the North Montgomery duals.
  3. 1st round losers will wrestleback for 5th thru 8th places. Semi-finalists will go for 3rd and then there is the championship match. Just wanted to be clear on the format. It's gonna be a fun event. So if you're freed up on the 22nd, come on out!
  4. Took care of it. Also note the "others receiving votes" is in alphabetical order, not necessarily in voting order.
  5. These are this week's edition of the classed team rankings. What makes this edition special is that it will it be determining the seeding for our inaugural IHSWCA Team State event. I'd like to send a big thanks to all the coaches who put the time in to vote. 6. I already told you what I was basing my information on. Thanks for your help.
  7. I'm basing my information off of the what I saw from the 2-class alignment figures on the IHSAA site. 146 2A boys schools to 145 1A boys schools. Obviously one more big school than small school. I figured the odd school went to the bigger class. I sent you these alignment figures over a month ago to review. You didn't have anything to say then. But I appreciate you mentioning something now. I'll look into it though and will make the necessary adjustments if needed.
  8. Where do you base your information off of? I'd like to check it out.
  9. hmm I'll look into it. Thanks for the heads up.
  10. According to the information I'm working with, there are 314 teams that have wrestling. In a 3-class system, that makes for 105 3a, 105 2a, and 104 1a teams. Mater Dei, who's being ranked as a 3a team, has moved Cascade to being considered the 210th biggest wrestling school--which is right at that line that differentiates a 2a team from a 1a team. John Marshall is now the largest 1a school with an enrollment of 529.
  11. *exhaling* Cool! I anticipate you guys will do great. (Provided you guys don't ignore or evade one another when you address eachother.. haha)
  12. Busco is correct. The voting ballots from all the classes are to be sent in by Wednesday at noon.
  13. A couple that I know of. Warren Central 45 Cathedral 14 Portage 40 Merrillville 24 Any others???
  14. IHSWCA Team State is just a couple weeks away and the coaches rankings will be the determining criteria for seeding for this event. These are what the current 3a team rankings look like: 1. Perry Meridian 2. Mater Dei 3. Cathedral 4. Merrillville 5. Crown Point 6. Penn 7. Bloomington South 8. Franklin 9. Warren Central 10. Hamilton SE Rankings will be updated next week. So if anyone has any results they feel could have an impact from the past 2 weeks. Please feel free share them here.
  15. EC wins team championship going 5-0 EC 78 Muncie Central 0 EC 61 Elwood 15 EC 54 Winchester 18 EC 33 Pendleton Hts 30 EC 60 Beech Grove 20 Individual weight winners include Brian Struewing, Jake Salatin, Devin Mitts, and Ricky Brown.
  16. I have to disagree Y2. If Perry Meridian was allowed to compete in the Ironman. They would not only be representing themselves, but also Indiana as a whole. This would be a great opportunity for our state to garner national recognition at the biggest regular season tournament in the country.
  17. I put some numbers together from last year's Ohio state tournament. Since they've got full wrestlebacks, wrestlers have an opportunity to come back to place after being defeated in the 1st round. Of the 336 that lost, since Ohio has 3 divisions, 70 came back for a top 8 finish. This means 20% of the kids that were standing on that podium were able to do so because of their system. Another footnote, 2 kids won 5 matches in a row to finish 3rd. Which is always impressive.
  18. Rankings information will be sent out to media outlets on Dec 12th. The drawings will be on the 14th.
  19. EC 53 Hamilton 18 Harrison 52 EC 18 EC 62 Tecumseh 9 EC 39 Glen Este 31 EC 45 Colerain 32
  20. Going off the individual rankings, this is what the top 10 looks like with advancement and placement points under our current model: 1st - 22 2nd - 18 3rd - 13 4th - 11 5th - 8 6th - 6 7th - 4 8th - 3 1. Perry Meridian 116 2. Bloomington South 55 3. Merrillville 48 4. Yorktown 45 5. Mishawaka 39 6. New Palestine 35 7. Jimtown 33 8. Cathedral 30 t9. Crown Point, Franklin, Penn 29 If we had full wrestlebacks: 1st - 22 2nd - 18 3rd - 14 4th - 12 5th - 9 6th - 7 7th - 5 8th - 4 9th-12th - 1 1. Perry Meridian - 122 2. Bloomington South - 58 3. Merrillville - 51 4. Yorktown - 48 5. Mishawaka - 43 6. New Palestine - 40 t7. Jimtown, Penn - 35 t9. Crown Point, Cathedral - 34 Bonus points were not considered, plus these projections are assuming maximum advancement and placement points. Interesting enough, Mater Dei does not crack the top 25 in either model.
  21. There's a waiver form on the IHSAA website that may apply to this situation.
  22. Via the Des Moines Register, the proposal has been tabled for the time being and will be revisited in February. http://www.desmoinesregister.com/article/20120912/SPORTS/120912024/1003/SPORTS/?odyssey=nav%7Chead&gcheck=1&nclick_check=1 The controversial proposal that would restructure college wrestling?s championship format was shelved Wednesday by the NCAA?s DivisionI sports management cabinet. National Wrestling Coaches Association executive director Mike Moyer said Wednesday night that the proposal ? which would make a dual meet tournament the NCAA?s team championship event ? was sent back to the NCAA wrestling committee for further evaluation. Last month at the NWCA?s annual convention, the NCAA wrestling committee unveiled the plan that would reshape a championship format that has been in place for more than eight decades. Since 1929, the NCAA has determined its wrestling team title by the points individuals accrue at its season-ending traditional tournament each March. The NCAA would continue to sponsor the individual championship event each March under the proposed format, but it wouldn?t crown a team championship there. Instead, a 16-team, two-weekend dual tournament in February would serve as the NCAA?s team championship tournament. The proposal polarized coaches and became a five-week source of controversy in the sport. Moyer and Cornell coach and NWCA board member Rob Koll disseminated an email last Thursday suggesting the NWCA should table the proposal for another year. But after conducting a conference call Friday with NCAA wrestling committee chair Dave Martin and NCAA associate director of championships Jeff Jarnecke, and weighing the ramifications of tabling the proposal, the NWCA opted instead to survey its head coaches before pushing forward with its support. The 77 DivisionI head coaches narrowly approved the proposal ? 39 voted in favor, 36 opposed and two abstained. The plan would have gone into place in 2014. Koll said Wednesday evening that it appeared the NCAA DivisionI sports management cabinet would review the proposal again in February, ?which is perfect.? ?Had we tabled it as coaches, it probably wouldn?t come back in February,? he said. ?But if the committee chooses to do it on its own volition, they can do whatever the heck they want. ? The feeling I got was they were going to say, ?Go back and work out some more details,? which really, in my opinion, is the best scenario. I obviously had reservations about people having reservations about it.? Moyer said the NWCA will hold a coaching summit Oct.23-24 at the Big Ten offices in Chicago. ?The great news is we have more time to discuss it,? Moyer said. ?If there?s a better alternative, I hope it comes out. We have to be willing to try something different ? whatever it is. ?The best decision for our sport needs to take into account a lot of different perspectives ? the perspective of a coach, the perspective of an administrator, the perspective of television, the perspective of fans and the perspective of a businessman.?
  23. I agree, but I can't fault the NWCA for acting. If the NCAA says you need to move forward with this proposal, then I think that's what needed to be done. D1 wrestling is in a fragile state and these opportunities need to be taken advantage of.
  24. The problem appears to be that the NWCA was forced into moving forward. They were comfortable with tabling the proposal but the NCAA told them they may not get another shot at it. Plus when you throw in ESPN, that puts alot of pressure on the NWCA. That's what I've gathered.
