  1. You doing robes for triple crown winners again, Kev? Those were slick. Fun couple of days of wrestling in all 3 styles, would recommend!
  2. ECSS - CP Taking 12, all but 144 and 190. semifinal matches up next after a break
  3. ECSS -106 Dwayne Putt from Harrison WL and Aidan Diaz of Penn are out. I believe Putt was over on the scale. Don’t know about Diaz.
  4. Sounds like there are a few at ECSS. They’re calling for alternates for a few weights. A 106 was a couple pounds over
  5. It’s true. He got booted from regionals and now can’t attend SS or state.
  6. 126 will likely have some brutal ticket matches: Richards v Rioux Schaefer v Brown 150 probably has the most egregious draw with May v Gibbs. Krejsa v Bonenberger another tough one.
  7. NR (#9) Joy Cantu 106 Merrillville vs NR (#10) Kolby Robinson Rensselaer Central in the ECSS.
  8. ECSS 106 first round #13 Newell of CP vs #16 Diaz of Penn.
  9. Not sure he checked prior. We always check the scales before weigh-ins; that’s why I referenced the lightest scale in my post, only that I knew, not him (and can see where you’d interpret it as if the kid knew). The lightest scale just happened to be the one that the light weights used for official weigh-ins. All the other scales were heavier.
  10. Ayden Campbell #15S/#5SS, 126 from Chesterton was 0.1 over on the lightest scale.
  11. Must comply with rule 4-3 regarding special equipment. Note that this is the 2022-2023 NFHS rule book and case book. Must be padded with close-cell foam, not prohibit normal movement and/or give an advantage to wrestler or disadvantage opponent. I would bring the wrestler to the head official during weigh-ins and get their opinion. Also bring extra tape, padding and anything else if they make you modify it. Brace and tape the crap out of it and good luck!
  12. Yes; dual was over and they weren’t going to send someone to take the likely L. Wished MC kept it closer but it scegat it is.
  13. Yes. I think he got pinned by Seth at Ironman. I think the calculus was to take a chance at 132 and hope 126 was meaningless by the time the dual was over. Turned out to be the right call, although a rematch to end the dual would have been cool. 132 was a great match too.
  14. Caesar Salas from Merrillville won 15u, 200 lbs. tech, major, pin and major in finals. I almost bailed on Flo too but finally got to the right brackets. It is a PITA.
  15. DAC was rescheduled to happen today but has been cancelled.
  16. "Head Up!" "Stay Leg!" "Move your feet!" I do enjoy the wrestling mom yelling moves from the bleachers as if her son can hear her. All time favorite is "Stand up!". Having wrestled ISWA Masters/old guy division, all the kids I coached were mat side and were laughing their @$$es off yelling "Just Stand Up!" and all the other cliche things coaches say. They had a lot of fun with the role reversal. My, my, my how the turn tables...
  17. I liked that too, especially the double stalling call. The mat seemed a little small though and the edge calls for stalling while engaged or circling out of a tie was borderline but I‘ll take that over letting them not engage.
  18. Mendoza pinned Hawkins at Ironman in December. Would have been nice to see a rematch. Bumping up worked out for CP
  19. Mat don’t lie…Stanley ended up losing in TB-1. I think there should be some penalty, especially if scoring is imminent. Giving the other wrestler Choice seems to be the most reasonable.
  20. CP’s Sessa bumped to 138 and won in OT
  21. CPs head coach - Bill Hawkins announcer - Anthony Hawkins, Bill’s Son CP’s 126 - Landon Hawkins- bumped up to 132 to wrestle Evan Stanley and won in 2nd OT
