  1. I'm sure you are proud of your son. I don't think anything about the above post indicates that you're trying to be nice about this, and you just made it personal by calling out my kid, which I had not done. If you read my post, I did not question your integrity, I said that my kid and our program do not take injury time for strategic reasons. I hate the injury time rule, and always have. Until they impose some kind of cost for calling your own injury time, some wrestlers and teams will.continue to abuse the rule. That said, even if there is a legitimate injury, I still believe there has to be a cost for being unable to continue the match. And yes, we have been in your shoes, and no he did not continue because some things are more important. If the adults charged with safe guarding your athlete's health and well-being tell you he shouldn't go, he shouldn't go. And no, I don't have sour grapes. Our wrestler's are taught to be accountable and he lost the match. It still doesn't mean that I have to like the rule. Good luck to you and your son. I hope he has a safe surgery and recovery.
  2. Again, my issue is with the rule and not personal. I'm sure your wrestler is a good kid. But if a wrestler is so injured that he has to call injury time in every single match, then IMO he should not be medically cleared to compete. And I don't think a high school wrestler competing with a serious Injury makes him a warrior, I think it makes him a victim. Different cultures I guess
  3. To be clear, I did not direct hate at your son or call him out by name. My displeasure is with the rule and has been for years. I would question a program that would allow a wrestler to continue competing with an injury like this. I would also question the timing. If the injury time had been the result of wrestling actions, I could understand. But both times in our match, he was on bottom and about to get walked over....it is what it is. I guess if winning at all costs is the most important thing, then kudos to BB.
  4. Yep, he took injury time in his match with my son when he was in jeopardy of getting turned and he clearly wasn't injured. It shouldn't be allowed to happen. And before anyone says "It's good strategy" - it's not. It's lying. My kid may have lost the match, but at least he did it on his feet with his integrity intact.
  5. Thank you! That's great info. We know our wrestler is on Mat 1 so Section 107 it is
  6. Does anyone have the Mat numbering layout for State? Would be really helpful in getting tickets in the right spot to see our wrestler. Thanks in advance!

  9. Heading to Rochester for the 1A Team State and wondering if anyone on here can give us some insight on Rochester's facility set up? I'm assuming they have a Fieldhouse? Will there be (limited) bleacher seating or should we all plan to bring chairs? Anyone with pics of facility? Appreciate the help. Best of luck to all of the Team State competitors and thank you to Rochester for hosting!
  10. Interesting feature on 4 time Indiana State Champ and former Nebraska wrestler Chad Red’s first year coaching at IU by former State placer and IU sports media’s Riley Woodall.
  11. FYI, video cameras and DSLR cameras are also prohibited. We didn't realize this as 2 years ago when my other son wrestled, they let me take my Canon camera in.
  12. You might try calling the Gainbridge Box Office. I spoke with a super helpful gentleman there, and he went in on his end and held one of the single seats so that I could grab the last individual one.
  13. See the above info sheet. Once you send your team or individual deposit, you will be sent the link to register.
  14. Man that’s a bummer. 2 years ago when we went, mat 4 was on the other end, and the initial info for this year showed it in the middle. Now we have tickets on the complete opposite end of where my son will be wrestling. Not complaining, but it sure would have been helpful for them to publish the mat layout ahead of time.
  15. Here is the info sheet for the 1A/2A State Tournament in case anyone still needs the details. 1A2AState_InfoSheet 2023.docx
