  1. I don’t think anyone’s taking anything away from Kyrel’s accomplishments. The original post said he was the most dominant wrestler. Others have given their thoughts on who THEY thought fit that definition.
Kyrel’s very athletic and knows how to compete. He & his club & HS coaches deserves all the credit for his accomplishments! He should definitely be proud, as should everyone involved, including his parents.

Y’all can never give the homie his props without a backhanded compliment or mentioning someone else. Just show bro his love. You kick rocks, my g.

Please define, “homie”, as you’re using the word. I want to be sure I’m understanding you, correctly.

Jake hockaday is most dominate! He is the standard in indiana. Incredible wrestler and character. True role model for the sport! He litterly handled his way through the whole series. Never down and never in harms way and pure domination!

I for one was shell shocked with the pin but incredibly bias here. Up 3-0 with takedown and escape in seconds with a Rideout to end the 1st. But man kyrel took advantage when shepherd turned in and locked that cradle up tight! Kudos to kyrel and congrats on the state championship! Much deserved! Good luck to kyrel at the citadel!

100% agree. Hockaday can’t be argued! 4 timer! I also thought Noah Weaver was stronger as well against some tough competition.
I’ll admit, though that quiet strength & humility is my preference! We get enough over celebration from athletes on TV.

The score was never changed, and as I watched, the referee never went to the table to tell them to change it, so that's good enough for me.

So the answer is, “no” you don’t KNOW for sure. That was my comment prior to your first response.

Could, should and maybe don't change facts.  No one knows what may have happened if BB took a different stance.  But none of that was necessary.  Not sure why you are so hurt about it.  Henderson moved on and right now the most important thing is that Preston Haines recovers fully.  Not a single person has disrespected Ty Henderson. Perspective is important. Perhaps trying to change the angle of your view to get the correct one?

lol. Yeah, ok, buddy. Read it how you want. lol.

Do you KNOW the call wasn’t reversed?

"Never should have been called" - Agreed

But that it irrelevant to the comment.  It WAS called and it could have ended differently, so the statement you so protest over is factual. Nor does it insult Henderson in any way.

Would and should are two different words with different meanings.

The call should’ve been, and could’ve been, reversed by the asst ref, which may very well have been what happened. Do you know whether or not that was the case?

Leavell made a gesture after the pin and was hit with unsportsmanlike; whitehead took exception.  Leavell made another gesture.   Whitehead was hit with unsportsmanlike as well.  Unsure if leavell got a second or not.

Leavell should have definitely been hit at least twice for unsportsmanlike conduct! His coaches should’ve corrected him immediately as well. There’s absolutely no place in this sport for standing over your opponent after pinning him & making gestures & talking trash! None! Then to walk away laughing & making a gesture as to say, “I spanked you” is unacceptable!

The Brownsburg coach medically forfeiting in the Haines/Henderson match was perhaps the classiest thing I’ve seen in wrestling. The match was almost over and your wrestler was on the verge of losing. He appeared to have some other injury problem as well, having already taken injury time just a few seconds prior. The ref’s call of an illegal move was questionable at best. Brownsburg could have taken the cheap win and made Haines a “state qualifier” in name only, but sucked it up and did the right thing.

Henderson’s season lives on solely because of the sportsmanship of Brownsburg.

Prayers for a speedy recovery to Haines.

“Henderson’s season lives on SOLELY because of the sportsmanship of Brownsburg”? BS! Henderson was dominating Haines in that match, and a slam should’ve never been called in that situation to begin with.  C’mon! That’s a ridiculous statement & an absolute insult to Henderson.

  9. Slam called on Henderson vs Haines. Haines ends the match w/a medical forfeit.

Terrible call at first, but it seems they either reversed the call, or BBurg defaulted. Regardless, Henderson was ruled the winner. He was dominated in the match up to that point. Henderson was much better on his feet.

  10. Because I missed the Summertime deadline for renewal, there’s now a $50 late fee to renew my license, so that’s a big deterrent. Some folks can’t afford that $50 fee (Ie. college students or the unemployed), so the IHSAA may miss out on some great officials. Can someone explain why the $50 late fee exists? Thanks!

Your post was well on its ways to being liked by someone then you may have messed it all up with that School Name.  :)

Ha. I try to stay out of the business of making comments. 🤐 In this situation, I had to chime in. It's frustrating. I'll change my profile school when I get a chance, but this may very well be my last post anyway. LOL.

This is the same wrestler that wrestled 106 (108) at the conference meet and did not enter the weigh in room until the 145 pounders were on the scale (the weigh-ins started at the 106 pound class).  For some reason, he was able to weigh in and wrestle when he obviously did not follow the same rules as everyone else.  When the ref was asked why he is able to wrestle, during the coaches meeting, he stated, I was not the ref that allowed him to weigh in so I don't have an answer for you (this was questioned by multiple coaches).  It's just frustrating when we, as coaches, work very hard to abide by the rules and do things right, and then you have others that are not playing by the same rules.  I was trying to give the benefit of the doubt and try to see if anyone knew of a legitimate reason why the waiver was given, and as of now, I haven't heard one.

I sure hope this isn't true. Waiver? How can you get a waiver to overrule an IHSAA rule that every wrestler needs to abide by? I again hope this isn't true, but it seems some coaches at the seeding meeting have already confirmed it on the forum. It's like Hornet Coach said, Coaches work hard and work hard for their wrestlers to follow the rules. Our 106 pounder and many others only weigh between 90 & 100 lbs. Of all weights to allow a waiver, it shouldn't happen at 106. It shouldn't happen at any weight class but especially 106. Unacceptable.
