  1. I agree...only attempted 3 times to get up in 2 minutes. Great kid and wrestler....but there is no such thing as aggressive stalling on bottom.
  2. You are correct on James winning; Vernon was runner-up. For all the old guys out there...Indiana had a ton a kids place that year and score very well in the Nationals as a team in whole?? 2nd Place I believe... I have always been told that it was the best High School National team Indiana has ever brought to senior nationals and agree whole heartedly. I'm having trouble verifying the placement of these Kats and who was officially on the team...some bad dudes man!! Also fun fact...at NHSCA Senior nationals Decatur Central became the first school in the nation to have 2 individuals in the finals....James Leavell and Chad Kerr 1995 NHSCA -Indiana Team Champion- James Leavell Runners-Up- Chad Kerr Vernon Cannon Chris Snyder Pat Mayes James Torres (Questionable....can't remember if it was a 2nd or 4th and I am getting conflicting reports from sources) Who else on team and results? Got to be some dudes that know this Will Hill ? Pleak? Nowak? Yates? Happe? Larsen?- Cassidy? McDonald? I do know Tim Myers did not go...that probably would have helped!!! But to correct a few things mentioned above on the quoted post and solidify some prior posts.... James and Vernon wrestled 3 times that year. Vernon upset James at Marion County. James returned the favor at CSAC with a win. They did not meet again until State Finals, James won the rubber match. NHSCA Champions 1990 thru 2006 1991- Matt Mills HWT 1994- David Maldonado 130 1995- James Leavell 140 2005- Matt Coughlin 152 2006- Dexter Larimor HWT
  3. Not proving you wrong… But Closet one I know to this date at a “lower weight”….. is John Leavell. In his 2nd year was a qualifier and place winner. 3rd year was a runner-up; 4th was a state champ. Yes…an accomplished family…. But first year was horrible and his 2nd year he was 12-18 I believe. Easier to do with a heavier athlete. They key word is “athlete”. Athletes can translate movement and adjust…. But they also have to have a drive in this sport to make it happen.
  4. I would have to agree on the Eppert vs Wright being the top one based on the magnitude and results. I remembered a few also that were big...not much talked about but made it very exciting to see unfold leading to state finals. Bryan Bailey vs Jamie Murray Cameron Smith vs Eric Douglas James Leavell vs David Maldonado Will Hill vs Dan Pleak James Leavell vs Vernon Cannon
  5. Mooresville Sectional 4 over 1 126- Caleb Wyss with fall over Joey Buttler
  6. I’m the token old guy now-a-days; so all the matches pre 2000 have to start being brought up. 1995 and 1996 Finals provided some of the best wrestling collectively for any style. Multiple matches during these two finals could be considered for best match in any fans eyes. 100- Greg Schaefer vs David Combs (7-5 OT) 126- James Torres vs Jay Yates (4-3) 134- Greg Larsen vs Tim Myers (7-4) 152- James Leavell vs Vernon Cannon (3-1 OT) Rubber Match Cannon beat Leavell in Marion County Finals…OT Match Leavell beat Cannon in CSAC…1 point match 171- Will Hill vs Dan Pleak (3-1) 1996 Finals 103- Leroy Vega vs Ryan Schoettle (4-3) 112- Nick Hull vs Scott Hines(5-3 OT) 119- Steven Bradley vs Vince Sessa (3-0) 125- Jason Baker vs Scott Schaefer (7-6) 135- Eric Kerkoff vs Andy Bertsch (3-1 OT) 140- Gabe Cook vs John Hardy 160- Nick Mayer vs Derrick Miller (3-1 OT) 215- Chad Buntin vs Anton Talamantes (4-2) HWT- GoGo vs Aessa (4-3 2nd OT Criteria)

  9. Thanks....just didn't understand bonus points. Thank you for walking me through that!
  10. Can someone explain to me how Franklin has 156pts in the update? I currently have them at 116pts 106-8 113-8 120-8 126-8 132-14 138-8 145-8 152-8 160-8 170-14 182-8 195-8 220-4 HWT-4 All underclassmen...but only took 2 to semi-state. Where are the bonus pts being awarded? They currently have 156 in your update. I am just trying to figure out the scoring system....I must be missing something and just want to be able to calculate this myself.
