  1. Tonight we will welcome 2022 State Champion Drake Buchanan. Not only is Drake successful at Folkstyle, but he has numerous ISWA state titles and National accomplishments in International Styles as well. He will be sharing with us some of his favorite techniques to score in those styles. Plus some live wrestling with several area schools represented from Hendricks, Morgan, Monroe, Owen and Johnson County so far this season have come to train. 6-7:30 pm, tonight we will be in our North Gym as our new room continues to be under construction, but plenty of space. Enter Door 34 for easy access. Coach Mikesell
  2. Coach Schmaltz will be in the room tonight to focus on some freestyle turns and some greco throws. Should be a great night. Starts at 6pm, enter door #2 .
  3. The spot is open, let me know, and yes, seniors only.
  4. All the participants above have confirmed that they will be there. We are only missing a #2 at 106. Illinois is missing #2 at 120 and 285, but their guys have agreed to wrestle twice and our 106 has done the same. Should be a fun day. $5 admission at the door for spectators. Pictures at noon, introductions and wrestling at 1. All three mats going at the same time, holding weight classes until each is finished. We may have to reorder if 106, 120 and 285 have to wrestle twice.
  5. We host every monday except March 21, we are on spring break. 6-7:30 pm. Enter Door #2

  9. Spots are filling up. I have sent email to all coaches involved. If you haven't gotten it for some reason, please reach out to me. Looks like we can field a real competitive team if all the top to accept.
  10. The top two senior guys will be invited to wrestle for team Indiana for the 28th annual Indiana vs Illinois dual meet. This year the dual will be held at Mooresville High School on March 20th at 1pm. We are wanting to include a girls team. There are a couple different events going on for girls that weekend so we will have some spots open, if you placed at girls state and are a senior and have interest please email me with name, weight and contact information so I can get you on the list and we can get our team put together. We will take the top senior place winners in each weight. Both boys and girls will get a 7lb allowance. daniel.mikesell@mooresvilleschools.org
  11. Tonight was supposed to be at Avon, however, they are not allowed to have any after school activities and I have a Mid State conference meeting tonight so there is no way we can host either. We'll be back at it next week at Avon if there are no other issues.
  12. Yes, we are going tonight, 6pm. Expecting a good crowd.
  13. The southwest RTC split between Mooresville and Avon will start next Monday at 6pm in the Mooresville wrestling room. Enter door 8, room is to your left as you enter gym.
  14. What about cameras and ipads to record matches? Bring those in with the team?
  15. We have had a team contact us that they are wanting to drop out of our Holiday Classic this year. The dates are December 27th and 28th. We actually have a waiting list of schools that want in, however all of those schools are already booked this year. If anyone has an opening and is interested contact me: daniel.mikesell@mooresvilleschools.org Coach Mikesell
  16. Currently we are full with a waiting list to get into the tournament. Email me your name and school that's wanting to get into it. daniel.mikesell@mooresvilleschools.org
  17. would not change my thoughts even if he had a winning record at a different weight against kids from same schools in sectional. If he is a stud and I think he should be the #1 I would say so, if I think he is moving down to have a better chance to advance and he is not the clear #1 then I think he should be seeded as such. The wrestlers who have competed at that weight all season or the majority of the season should get the edge if they've beaten the majority of the wrestlers at that weight in that sectional. If the wrestler who is moving down is really that good, seeding him third won't matter, he'll end up winning anyway. But seeding him first and then he gets second not right to the wrestler who ends up third. maybe the IHSAA needs to look at a qualifying weigh ins and at least one scratch qualifying weigh in the wrestler has to compete at that weight class in order to be eligible for that weight at sectional. Potentially a wrestler could wrestle at a weight and have never competed at that actual weight class. They get two pounds starting in Jan. So they find a JV meet to weigh in to make scratch in December, get the two pounds, have 5 other qualified weigh ins and never compete at that scratch weight. Thus creating a debacle in the seed meeting.
  18. Here is my take on the original question: The person in charge of the meeting should ask all the coaches if they believe the wrestler who has dropped weight and has no common opponents is clearly the best wrestler in the weight class. If all coaches agree, then he is the number one seed. If that is not the case, then you have to consider the records vs. everyone entered in that sectional. Wrestler A is 8-0 vs sectional opponents, Wrestler B is 7-1 vs all sectional opponents and wrestler C is 0-0 vs sectional opponents. Even if wrestler C is a semi-state quarter finalist, I believe he should be the #3 seed.
  19. Silent auction, great t-shirts, and good wrestling, can't wait.
  20. Yes, win 8 weights is first criteria My 106 is 88 as well, but that is pretty rare, what is the statistics for FF"s at 106? I have three kids who can get to 109, but not 106. So the 88#er gets spot by default. Just wondering what national stats are. any insight? Mikesell
  21. Hypothetical, what would your team look like with these weights? I am putting 15 weights, makes more sense to me, no chance for a tie if you have 15 and I would rather add a weight to get to 15 than go to 13. 110, 117, 124, 131, 138, 145, 155, 160, 165, 175, 189, 215, 235, 285. Just for discussion, thoughts? Mikesell
  22. Mooresville High school is selling old wrestling mats. We have three that are approximately 40x40 and one that is about 38x38. They are cut in two section pieces of 20x40 and 16x38 respectively. We are willing to sell them as an entire mat or in sections if thats what you need. If interested contact me via my school email at daniel.mikesell@mooresvilleschools.org Thanks, Coach Mikesell
  23. How do I go about changing ours, there are a few things that need updated on Mooresville's Coach Mikesell
  24. What if weather permits team from Practice on Friday and Practice on Saturday and then they have a meet on monday?
  25. Last year the Mooresville Holiday Classic had a total of 35 state qualifiers. This included 21 place winners and SIX state champions. This year the field has Several returning state qualifiers, placers and two state champions. It will be great wrestling from beginning to end. December 27th and 28th.
