  1. shouldn't expect Campbell at 90, he seems to have contracted something over the holidays called puberty, causing a mutant growth spurt, just hoping he still knows how to move his body a month from now. appreciate you all naming him. not mentioned yet is a group of MD kids that I've seen making a lot of noise this year outa state. Freeman at 80, Ross at 103, Boarman at 110 (or 103). those boys are legit contenders for a state title from what I've seen,
  2. I fully agree with Matt's latest comments. Our programs certainly have had a strong rivalry over the past several years. We've lost to Avon three years in a row in the semi-finals at state and we've had our disagreements; however it never interfered with my seeing Matt, or a number of Avon wrestling families, as my friends. Several of my sons' best friends are Avon wrestlers, and I think I can safely say there are other bburg wrestling families that share the same. Our rivalry is good and it strengthens our county, conference, and Indiana wrestling as a whole. On the topic of trophy chasing; my opinion is that ISWA has the right formula. Not only do we want to grow the sport and help develop teams, but I think we want to make avenues available for the best in the state to wrestle at this tournament. If a team has legit holes, they should be encouraged to give opportunities to some of these kids in the state. Not only does it show respect to those individual's talent, but their participation allows for others to see them and aspire to their level of skill. I was honored to have what I consider as several of Indiana's elite agree to fill our open spots and represent the burg on our team this year. Last year, I was proud to have my youngest offered a spot and wrestle for another school. Yesterday our kids mingled, sparred, and enjoyed there time with their guest teammates and built friendships and memories. I think these kid's and parent's willingness to come wrestle with a group of kids they know little, shows a level of respect toward this tournament that we want to sustain and continue growing. just my humble opinion. Great job ISWA Doug Campbell
  3. Like Mr Watson, I presented the options to my boys at the beginning of the season; we looked carefully through our schedules and locked down what we were going to do at that time; one boy chose to make sacrifice because he really wanted to compete at state, the other chose not to compete at state. What sacrifices: he forfeited his spot on the national middle school dual team competing at Danville to get a local tournament in and like many others sat 8+ hours in a gym to get two matches while there were far better national tournaments to attend. Now I scan through the entrant list and message posts and it seems this was all a great hoax. I truly want to believe in the ISWA, but wow what a year seemingly mared with follies and fumbles. "But like anything there are people who will not be totally truthful and will abuse what is meant to be good and make it bad" This statement rings so true, not only for individuals but for the ISWA organization as a whole. Hopefully I am simply drawing the wrong conclusions, but there is certainly doubt in my mind of who is being truthful and honest.
  4. There will also be a group of indiana middle schoolers competing in the AAU national duals in Iowa this weekend as well.
  5. teammills, we were actually a little better than you reported, we had 2-2nds and 2-6ths. For Brownsburg little guys we had: 1st - 5, 2nd -1, 3rd -1, 4th -1, 5th -1, 8th - 1 Overall, 50+ kids from brownsburg schools competing at ISWA state between the two weekends
  6. Just for the record:), Brownsburg east MS won county and conference over ANMS and ASMS back to back in 2013 and 2014. probably not gonna happen this year though; alot of talent moved onto 9th grade in 2015. Alot of talent in the pipeline for both schools systems, county will be a battle for a number of years to come. Hendricks county middle schools are strong....
  7. Last year my son had the opportunity and pleasure to compete on this team. Wonderful event, very well ran, facilities are great, competition was excellent from all over the country. It was great seeing competition from the western states that we typically don't see. I count seven Freshman competing tonight at HS state finals that were on this team representing Indiana last year. Indiana surprised alot of teams at this event, be great to do it again this year. Thanks Brey for pulling this together.
