Avon Wrestling Club is sending a solid 8U dual team to wrestle at the Cheesehead Apocalypse duals Friday 3/29. We are in need of an 87lb 8U wrestler. Entry fee is already paid so no cost other than travel, food, spectator admission. If interested contact Terrell Franklin at 317-289-2099.

Funny, I was just talking about this earlier tonight about how much I despised the first available mat tournaments. Very confusing especially with multiple gyms. I can remember sprinting to another gym to barely beat the last call and also waiting on the opponent for the same reason. On one instance my sons match was somewhere in the 500s and the tournament was currently in the 300s so we thought that we were safe to leave and get some lunch but as soon as we hit the door to leave the powers that be decided to jump up to the 500s in the other gym and was calling for him to the mat. If we had of left 10 seconds earlier we would have missed out. I know that these are two diffrent issues but for the wrestler, mom and dad, aunts and unckes, grandma and grandpa the first available thing is not good. IHPO 2013 -

I haven't missed one of your matches in the last four years and I don't plan on missing any in the next four. Learn all you can mixed with some good old fashion Harris funk and you will have an exciting college wrestling career. There is no doubt that you were a huge part of the success the Avon team has had enjoyed. Thank you for all the great memories especially the legendary come from behind spoiler pins. Good Luck!

11) Never approach your wrestler directly after a match. He will find you when ready. -
Taking three to four HS wrestlers for third year in a row. Kids and i have a blast. First year the kids got autographs from Gable, Sanderson, Ruth, and more. Does anybody where it will be next year?

Years ago our high school got rid of an old mat and I took one of the three strips that made up the whole mat and cut it into thirds with a new razor knife in nothing flat. Kept one for myself and gave the other two away. I believe it measured 11 x 14 which is perfect for a two car garage.

Watching wrestling is like watching hockey. The closer you are to the action the better. If you watch a match mat side it is much more exciting than watching from 200' away in the mega gyms. I say bring the crowd in close.
