  1. Best Semi State in Evansville in many years. Talent from top to bottom in every weight class. The coaches were class acts and the wrestlers were honorable in victory and defeat. Parents can come on here and say this or that but one thing is for sure...Evansville Semi State teams are top notch in every aspect of the sport of wrestling. Congratulations to those headed to Bankers.
  2. Watching Lee unwravel every single opponent through semi state like they are a ball of yarn means nothing to this scenario. Micic has done the same. What I have witnessed and know from watching Micic for 3 years is he doesn't have the vast ways of scoring like Lee. One doesn't need comparison matches to try to figure out which is better. Seeing both wrestle and knowing the competition Lee has wrestled around the country I still like Lee by 2 points.
  3. Shlitter from Jasper, Memorials 126 and Elpers from North all 3 dropped from 132. Lee is unstoppable but several dropped not as much to win a Region or Semi State Title but to perhaps get a ticket to Indy. I'm sure there are others.
  4. Dang! I thought we were getting somewhere here and was hoping to take you out for some ice cream after the matches on Saturday because I succumb to pressure. Haha. Either way I hope your wrestlers stay healthy and strong and those fans have some lozenges handy for Saturday. ;D
  5. Everyone. During that match the other side of the gym got louder and louder with every tick of the clock screaming "Two!!" Mixed with a few "Boo!!" And there was no change in position. Live with the call or non call. Why boo there? Makes no sense. I honestly felt they were booing for a stalemate to restart the action before Egli ran out of time to tie it up. That was almost understandable. The 2 points were a complete surprise.
  6. Lol, touché however booing after the fact was as bad as the other side during the match. Just let them call it and live with it. I have maintained that position the whole time. Officials occasionally make mistakes but overall they do a much better job than given credit for. There were hundreds if not thousands of calls made and for 1 or 2 to be all that we are talking about is pretty remarkable.
  7. That's a cute story about my career and obvious inability to ever succeed in the real world BUT was it the correct call? You forgot to answer that while giving your esteemed motivational speech.
  8. Cheering = Good and motivating to wrestler. Booing = Bad and intimidating ref. Cheer all you want (everyone) but let refs make calls on the mat without booing. Those kids work hard for ever point.
  9. So you will say that call was 100% correct? You have to be kidding me when you say officials (from every sport) don't make calls on reactions from the bleachers. Do I think they walk out there saying to the them self "all calls are going to be for wrestler X"? No. But when wrestler X has a ton of people yelling for a call the human (professional or not) nature kicks in. That was not a good call and most agree the crowd had some play in it. Not that if it were the other way around those same people wouldn't mind as much.
  10. It was a blanket statement but you just made my case in point. Should I take it that since Mater Dei obviously puts in more effort as a team that they get way more benefits from iffy calls? I have maintained and acknowledged Mater Dei is very talented and has a stellar coaching staff but having all those things shouldnt affect a kids season over a call. Of course Mater Dei has the most dominate team in region but that doesn't mean those kids should get better OR worse calls. I just wish the refs called the matches on what they see and not on the pressure of the boo birds in the stands.
  11. Boooooo!!! Haha...I kid, I kid. You know everything he said is pretty darn valid. He is right about Central, Reitz, Mount Vernon, Memorial and Harrison having 3rd ref envy. We don't hate...we just don't appreciate. Our kids love wrestling and work just as hard as Mater Dei's and getting a match decided by an iffy call is part of life but having 70% (I just made that up) of the iffy calls going for MD while rabid parents are yelling and booing gets a little bit old. But its a part of life that we have been forced to live with. Unfortunately.
  12. Should be a good match. One thing that doesn't show here is Davis has lost to only 1 Indiana kid and that's Jourdan (albeit 3 times and all under 3 point losses). The other loss was to Kentucky's Blackwell. And its safe to say that the SIAC Conference and Castle Regional isn't a sloutch. Those guys have been beating each other up for the last 3-4 weeks. Whoever gets to state at 132 from Evansville Semi State will have earned it. That weight is ridiculous. Evansville Semi State is overall the best I have seen in recent years in depth from all weight classes. This is the year everyone outside Evansville hopes to not draw EVV at State for Friday night.
  13. Are you sitting at the computer wearing your red and gold shirt booing the screen? :'(
  14. Yes I saw him wrestle and if they both lined up as freshmen Lee would beat him 10 out of 10 times.
  15. Lee is far and away the most talented wrestler (freshman year) to ever wrestle for a very proud and successful program. That in itself speaks volumes about that kid. He is not only a great wrestler but his entire family including Nick are the greatest folks you will ever meet. I got Nick Lee winning this one 5-3.
  16. Seems that since an escape isn't even on the table it makes a stalemate the better argument. You dispute an escape but think Egli had all out control? (Reversal) The match is over so its time to move on from here but it would be nice if the guys in stripes would call these matches with total disregard for the crowd in the stands. That call was made ONLY because of the crowd. Its over and next week is a new tournament. I know those two are going to represent their schools in a honorable fashion.
  17. "When he (Peter Pan) was a very little fellow he ran away from the human world, and lived with the fairies in the Never Never Never land." From what stratosphere did you witness this? I was on the same side of the gym as the action and 7 rows up above the wrestlers. It simply Never Never Happened like that. I agree that at best it was an escape but more likely a stalemate. ???
  18. I agree. I did see one post saying crybabies but other than that one post everyone else has said that both wrestlers are good sports and great kids. To me a reversal was not the correct call at all. There was no change in control. I would even wonder if an escape would be the correct call in that instance but at least that call would have left the match up to the wrestlers instead of up to the crowd and to the official. Those officials have a tough job without everyone yelling at them but if people on here don't think that Mater Dei and its crowd don't change calls then they live in 'Never Land'. I expect to see Egli and Konrath in the finals at the Ford Center and it should be another great match. To offset the crowd perhaps all the other schools should wear a Mount Vernon shirt during that match and drowned out the "TWO!!!" screams from the Gold and Red section and let the officials do their jobs and the kids wrestle their matches.
  19. I use cups as an example because with any kind of weight/pressure they fold upon their selves but you are on to something. Today's refs folded as easy as laundry, chairs, newspapers, napkins and those dreaded 1980's Trapper Keepers.
  20. It was a terrible call. The class of Konrath to shrug his shoulders and say "it happens" was amazing and at the same time the Mater Dei section was slobbering and yelling for the ref to call those mythical 2 points. I hate it for Egli who is a great wrestler because everyone that was in that building except those wearing red and gold knows it was a bogus call. I guess the thing to do is bring the most people to sit in the stands and scream what calls you need for your wrestler because those officials fold like paper cups.
  21. Konrath is a beast. Nick Lee is ridiculous. T-Ferg is honorable mention. Kelly definitely belongs in the conversation. Micic is Micic. DJ Smith will have his chance to decide if its him or T-Ferg and Micic will have his chance to prove its not Lee. For now I have to go with the one who proved it in an actual battle and that is Konrath against Egli.
  22. I will bet you any amount of money he wont win 3 titles. 8)
  23. +1 Saved me a lot of typing!
