  1. I have heard the same. I hate to see this type of thing. Buy locally and support the little guy!
  2. Regarding 120 from where we were sitting we thought the stalling point was to Reitz. Bizarre call. I agree with everything you posted. Wimpelburg definitely had the takedown and with Kuhn it looked from my spot that he took a unintentional head to the chin which slowed him down considerably. Not sure if thats what happened but it looked painful from where I sat. Reitz needed these matches to get their heads ready for tournament time.
  3. Mater Dei pretty dominate. Reitz losses were either by pin or by one move. How does that happen? The ones that got away were at 120 to MD (1 point), 160 to MD (1 point) and 132 to MD (2 points) but at 126 Todrank proved he is a factor in this SIAC. Ferg, Kuhn looked good as well. The heavy weight from Reitz was the 220 and he came off with a big pin. Good night of wrestling.
  4. Tonight's dual with Mater Dei will be a good measurement as well as this coming weekend when Reitz meets up at the Tell City 6 way. One thng that most people overlook is those 5 wrestle each other every day for hours. Not many rooms have those kind of partners.
  5. From the Evansville Newspaper today... 106 Ferguson 34-0 113 Kuhn 35-0 120 Davis 33-2 126 Todrank 30-4 132 Johns 32-3 Tell the 164 kids that lost their match that they are not dominate. If this were Castles bottom 5 I would think they were just as dominate. The thing that surprised me were the records of the heavier weights. While not as dominate they are better than average. Should be a great SIAC.
  6. From 106-132 I think they have a combined total of less than 10 losses. That's pretty dominate for 5 weight classes.
  7. No matter. 120 is still the deepest regardless of weight class styles.
  8. Good grief! Mini update? 106 and 120 just turned into state finals quality wrestling.
  9. I never said they were going to do it but if you think there isn't 2-3 kids on either of these teams that could bump up and win then you have not been around wrestling much. I clearly said I did not think it was going to happen. This is just an odd year for both programs and I wouldn't be shocked if either team got creative with the line up.
  10. Reitz supposedly has a solid 113 or 120 backup behind Kuhn and Davis and could shift the lineup around for match ups and to fill in some weak spots. Would be gutsy but wouldn't be the first time it happened. They did it at Harrison 10 way and the back up had a solid decision at 120 while everyone else bumped up. Could make for a few surprise matches. More than likely not going to happen but with this odd year in these two programs who knows.
  11. Reitz as I can remember. 106 Ferguson 113 Kuhn 120 Davis 126 Todrank 132 Johns 138 Reese 145 Riegel 152 Vanhook 160 Wimpelberg 170 Shaw 182 Meyers 190 220 Hammond Hwt Goodwin Thats the last I can remember. There has been some wrestle offs since then.
  12. I have to agree. There are some that are not ranked that are giant killers too. 106 is shaping up to be a pretty stacked weight as well.
  13. Both teams have nicked up records but both have excellent individuals. Anyone that has seen them both have any predictions? I have seen a steady improvement in Reitz.
  14. Reitz at 106-132 is dominate but everyone is overlooking some good quality wrestlers from 138 on.
  15. Reitz at 126 and 138 are stronger wrestlers than you give credit for here. 113 is not going to be like last year either. Kuhn looks great this year.
  16. Any thoughts on individuals winning their weights? I haven't seen all the teams from this sectional wrestle this season so I cannot say more than I see Kuhn being a solid 113 Champion over Brown. Reitz has a stacked line up from 106-160 and some great potential from the rest of the team. I think Reitz wins this sectional and has the most champions. ;
  17. Wow! Reitz kids went to Madison ready to wrestle. Thanks for the update!
  18. Any updates? Upsets? Big match ups for tomorrow? Which teams are winning and undefeated wrestlers?
  19. The Reitz vs MD dual will have some awesome matches. This weight is one of them. Reitz has a tough kid at 126.
  20. 02-03 Mater Dei without a doubt. I watched that Mater Dei team and it was the most loaded team I have seen in my 20+ years of watching. This Perry Meridian team is in a class of its own but in no way comes close to touching that Mater Dei team. Perry Meridian is definitely this years best team. And as a Reitz fan it pains me to say that. I watched them beat some close friends. But as a Evansville resident I am proud of their accomplishments.
  21. I look for much better from individuals on Mater Dei. They have had a few weeks to right the ship and get the football players involved after a long season. Dont ever write that team and its coaches off.
