  1. Thank you very much for the update. Hate to hear the news on both guys, especially Reitz. Hopefully he can come back from the concussion. The one thing Ty has going for him is time. He doesn't need to rush back. Jeremiah, being a few years older, you have to hope this wasn't his big chance and it was lost. His health is the biggest thing, but we all hope for success on and off the mat for these guys. Any input you have and are willing to share is greatly appreciated going forward. I created this thread to help everyone stay up on as many guys in college as possible. And if you don't feel like posting for whatever reason, feel free to PM me any info you are okay with being posted.
  2. HUGE win for Mason tonight! Dhesi, when it was announced in early December he was coming back for another year, he was immediately inserted into Flo's rankings at #1. Intermat has not ranked him yet. The match against Parris was his first of the year, since wrestling at the UWW World Championships for Canada in October. Mason is 18-3 on the year so far, per mgoblue.com This match and win officially pulls Mason's redshirt for Michigan and he was pretty dominant, winning 11-4 with 3 takedowns in the first period. Michigan is @ Arizona State Saturday evening 6:00 ET(?) and then jump into the Big Ten Saturday Jan 12 against Illinois. His next two big challenges should come Jan. 25 at Ohio State in a rematch against Chase Singletary and Feb. 1 at Penn State against Anthony Cassar. Parris lost to Singletary earlier this year 15-9 at the Ohio Intercollegiate Open. Cassar, like Mason weighs in on the lighter end of the weight class, usually around 230 and is very strong and explosive. Those two matches should really give an indication of how far Mason can go this year. Congrats to Mason on a HUGE win and the pulling of his redshirt!
  3. What I do know is he is grayshirting, which means he won't officially enroll at PSU until either this spring semester or next fall. That means his eligibility clock doesn't begin until next fall. PSU is pretty crowded so they did this with Joe, Michael Beard and Aaron Brooks. As far as I know Joe and Beard are in Happy Valley training at the NLWC. Brooks is training for a year at the US Olympic Training Center in Colorado. What I don't know for sure as I heard it 3rd or 4th hand is that Joe had an injury and part if not all of this time is spent rehabbing. Not sure of the injury or the severity, so I won't comment on it further without knowing 100%.
  4. You're correct, that was Lee's first match this year not scoring bonus points.
  5. Check that, Nick Nevills lost his semifinal at 285 so no all-PSU final there. That will pretty much solidify Anthony Cassar as their 285 going forward barring injury.
  6. That's a lot of schools, therefore a LOT of results. I'll look and post results as best I can but anyone else that knows wrestlers competing and would be willing to post results, would be greatly appreciated.
  7. Shoop is a 2x NCAA Qualifier. Lee had TF'd him last year. The 2 minute ride cost Nick a TF this time. Lee will face Stanford's Real Woods in the final. Woods, a freshman was the Illinois 3A State Champ at 132 last year and beat Graham Rooks 5-1 in the IN/IL All-Star Classic. Woods was a 3X Illinois State Champ with a 2nd Place finish his sophomore year. From what I can tell, this is only Woods 2nd tournament of the season (no duals). He won the Princeton Open beating Purdue's Nate Limmex 4-0, for the title. He was ranked #2 at 132 in Flo's final HS rankings last year. Should be a good test for both. Looks like Penn State will only get wrestlers in the finals in 7 of the 10 weight classes, though they will likely have both finalists in two weight classes, 157 and 285.
  8. Tolley fell by 2-1 decision to Hadyn Maley of Stanford and is eliminated. Semifinals should begin tomorrow (January 2) around noon Eastern time and the finals at 7:00 pm.
  9. The evening session of Day 1 at the Southern Scuffle has begun. Nick Lee has a tough match against 2x Pennsylvania State Champion Cole Matthews but squeezes out a major 11-3. Matthews did everything he could to avoid being taken down the last minute of the 3rd period and got hit with his 2nd stalling call with :04 left to make it 10-3 Lee. The riding time point gave him the major. It would have been his first match this season not scoring bonus points. Kaid Brock of OSU MFF'd in the round of 16. Lee will face Kyle Shoop of Loch Haven in the semifinal and either Real Woods of Stanford or Nicholas Gil of Navy in the final. Both of those matches will be tomorrow.
  10. Early Scuffle results: Nick Lee the #1 seed drew a pigtail match and won by 2nd period fall over Julian Flores of Drexel. He was ahead 9-2 at the time of the fall. In the Round of 32, he won by Major decision 15-4 over Carmine Ciotti of Edinboro. His main competition appears to be Oklahoma State's Kaid Brock. Blake Mulkey drew Kaid Brock in the Round of 32 and fell by Major 13-5. In the consolation round, Mulkey fell 8-0 to Julian Flores and is eliminated. Connor Tolley gets a 3-2 decision win over Jarrod Snyder of Cal State Bakersfield. Round of 16 @141 Nick Lee wins by Major over Aiden Murphy of Chattanooga...
  11. Southern Scuffle Jan 1-2 from Chattanooga Hoosiers wrestling in the Scuffle: Penn State - Nick Lee 141 Chattanooga - Connor Tolley 285 Gardner Webb - Blake Mulkey 141 Duke is there with a full compliment of wrestlers but no Jeremiah Reitz or Ty Mills. Can anyone give an update on either of these two? I'm not finding any results on either. Since this tournament allows multiple wrestlers from the same school (unattached or attached), I was hoping we'd see them. Did I miss anyone?
  12. Down 4-3, Lucas Davison scores a reversal with :42 left and rides him out to secure a riding time point, a win and a 3rd Place finish at The Midlands. Nice work by Lucas! The big boys from Indiana represented very well!
  13. Midlands - final @174 Ben Harvey finished in 8th Place MFF'ing in the placement match. He had lost 8-5 to Andrew Morgan of Campbell to drop to the 7th Place match. @184 Thomas Penola dropped his final two matches to finish in 8th Place. @197 Lucas Davison avenged his brother's loss to Thomas Lane of Cal Poly and is awaiting his 3rd/4th Place match against Army's Rocco Caywood. Ironically, Caywood knocked Andrew out of the championship bracket yesterday. @285 Mason Parris lost the consolation semifinal by fall to Matt Stencel of Central Michigan. He finished in 5th Place after receiving a MFF from #2 seed from Jere Heino of Campbell - unattached.
  14. His two losses were to ranked wrestlers as well. Chas Tucker (Cornell) is 13th/14th and Cam Syorka (North Dakota St) is #19/#16. His loss on Saturday was to Gary Wayne Harding (North Carolina) formerly of Oklahoma State, where he was an NCAA Qualifier in 2015 and 2016. Not sure what's up with him being at North Carolina. Don't have any results from this year. May see him in the rankings soon if he just became eligible. Three tough opponents for Paul and results not up to his liking I'm sure, but these are good tests for him to let him know where he needs to be when it is time for the Big Ten and NCAA.
  15. Same guy he pinned in :14 earlier this year. Didn't see today's match, but the first match they both locked up top and Mason won with a throw to his back Could today have been the same and this time Mason got got?
  16. Looks like it...... He's started the last 5 matches since he got down to 133
  17. South Beach Duals Individual Results from Day 1 posted above. Here are the team results: IU over North Carolina 19-16 Purdue fell to Utah Valley 28-11 and NC State 27-13 Day 2 Michigan State Drew Hughes went 1-1, winning by Major against Wyoming and dropping a 5-1 decision vs. Kent State Purdue Tanner Webster lost by fall vs. Purdue Dylan Lydy won by FF against West Virginia Jacob Aven went 1-1, winning a decision against Missouri and losing a decision vs. West Virginia Purdue lost to Missouri 41-3 and beat West Virginia 23-20 Indiana Paul Konrath went 1-2 on the day, but his win was a big one against Tariq Wilson of NC State. Wilson finished 3rd at the NCAA Championships last year. He beat Wilson 4-3. His two losses were a 3-1 decision to Cornell and 19-4 TF against North Dakota State. Breyden Bailey lost a 9-7 SV1 decision to Cornell, his only match of the day. Jake Covaciu went 1-1 on the day, dropping a decision against Cornell and getting a 3-2 decision vs. NC State. Jake Kleimola went 1-2 on the day, losing decisions to NC State and North Dakota State, and winning by FF against Cornell Brandon Streck went 0-3 on the day, losing by fall to Cornell and North Dakota State and a decision to NC State. IU lost all 3 duals today falling 32-10 to Cornell, 24-9 to NC State and 33-9 to North Dakota State. Both IU and Purdue went 1-3 on their trip to South Beach
  18. The Midlands continue - Day 2 @125 Drew Hildebrandt dropped his blood round match and was eliminated. @149 Brayton Lee fell 9-7 to Jacori Teemer in the blood round and was eliminated. Teemer gains revenge from their Dream Team AS match up. @174 Ben Harvey won his first match to guarantee placement, then dropped his next match. He'll wrestle for 7th Place. @184 Thomas Penola won his first two matches today, before dropping to the 7th/8th Place match. @197 Andrew Davison fell in the blood round and was eliminated. @197 Lucas Davison fell 4-3 to Tanner Sloan and is waiting to fact Thomas Lane (who eliminated Andrew) in the consolation semifinal. @285 Mason Parris dropped a 6-4 decision to Conan Jennings of Northwestern. Parris got two takedowns in the first minute, but couldn't get out from the bottom in the 2nd or 3rd periods. He gave up a stalling point in the 3rd, thentwo back points in the last minute and a riding time for the final 6-4 score. He now gets a rematch with Matt Stencel of Central Michigan. Stencel is ranked in the top 20 and was an NCAA qualifier last year. Parris won by fall over Stencel (:14) in the Championship of the Michigan State Open earlier this year.
  19. For those of you that don't head to the College board, these results and the results of many other former IN HS wrestlers are posted in the thread titled IN Wrestler Results/Updates. You're encouraged to visit, add results and comments throughout the season, not just during big events.
  20. Most of the results not entering results here are not in Track either. Rankings are just another tool for fans, wrestlers and recruiters. One thing people need to remember is that rankings are an imperfect yet pretty accurate snapshot with opinion built in of the current state of a weight class. They are a moment in time, not a prediction of the future as many people on the internet (not just speaking about wrestling rankings) and change as results change. If rankings were 100% accurate of how things will end, why would we even have the events? So people should learn not to allow their panties get in a wad every time there is an upset and crow at the guys doing the rankings.
  21. South Beach Duals - Day 1 - Each school had 2 duals on the first day. I'll report by team instead of weight since they were dual meets. Michigan State Drew Hughes was 1-1 - Won by fall vs. SIUE and lost 4-2 SV1 to West Virginia Indiana - Note: North Dakota State had travel issues due to weather and did not wrestle on Day 1. The match with Indiana will be made up Sunday, so IU will wrestle 3 matches on Day 2. - Paul Konrath dropped a 15-7 major decision to Gary Wayne Harding of North Carolina - Breyden Bailey fell 7-4 to Austin O'Connor - Jake Covaciu won by major, 18-5 over Will McDonald - Jake Kleimola won 4-1 over Hunter Queen - Brandon Streck lost a decision to Cory Daniel Purdue - Dylan Lydy lost 6-4 SV2 to Kimball Bastian of Utah Valley in his only match - Jacob Aven went 1-1 today with a 3-1 win against NC St and a loss by fall to Utah Valley - Tanner Webster lost by fall to Daniel Bullard of NC St
  22. Note on Parris' quarterfinal win... Trent Hillger was ranked 8th by Intermat and undefeated at 15-0 as far as I can tell. He handled Chase Singletary of Ohio State in a dual. Singletary beat Parris earlier this year 15-9 (Michigan State Open?). That's a nice win... Mason has a reasonable path to the finals and a shot to win the whole thing.
  23. @125 Spencer Lee TF's Drew Hildebrandt 18-0 @141 Nathan Boston drops a 5-1 decision to Purdue's Ben Freeman and is eliminated. @149 Brayton Lee loses 3-2 to #2 seed Alec Pantaleo. Didn't see the match, but that has to be considered a good result in the big picture. As good as a loss can be viewed. My guess is Pantaleo wins the whole thing. Lee could face Jacori Teemer tomorrow morning. @174 Ben Harvey with the fall to stay alive. @184 Penola takes out Gray 10-2 to stay alive. @197 Andrew Davison dropped to the consolation bracket after a 3-0 loss to Army's Rocco Caywood. @197 Brother Lucas Davison advanced to the semifinal with a 4-2 win over Army's Alex Hopkins. He'll face Tanner Sloan, South Dakota State unattached. Sloan the #7 seed took out #2 seed jacob Warner of Iowa by TF. @197 David Eli lost by fall to Landon Pelham and is eliminated. @285 Mason Parris moves on with a 9-6 decision over Trent Hillger of Wisconsin. He'll face #8 seed Conan Jennings of Northwestern. Jennings advanced with a MFF from #1 seed Sam Stoll of Iowa. Would have liked to see Parris get a shot at Stoll. After Day 1, only Lucas Davison and Mason Parris remain in the Championship bracket and will begin in the semifinals in the morning. Hildebrandt, Lee, Harvey, Penola and Andrew Davison are alive in the consolation bracket.
