That is changing variables. I'm not sure those guys that lost in the ticket round finished 4th in the regional the year before, and we're not talking about advancement the year after!
Stay on task friends! (which is very close to getting to question #7)
P what is more challenging.... teaching this lesson to the Indiana adult wrestling world and keeping them on task... or teaching how to represent a fraction on a number line to 3rd grader's at Jones Elementary back in 2004?

If I remember correctly Carmel had the All World Championship! That was a good time! Great coaches!!!
Yes, I think Coach P was working on getting the tournament name coined with the UWW and last I heard he had a meeting with the United Nations.... World Champions were crowned and young mens' lives were changed forever!

Coach Pendoski at Carmel and Coach Joll/Davison at Chesterton a few years ago really pioneered the idea of Freestyle Duals. People are hesitant to go to local freestyle open tournaments because of the numbers are lacking. Duals guarantees you matches... Last year at Carmel's Freestyle Duals teams like Greenfield Central, Zionsville, Carmel, Evansville Mater Dei, Chesterton, Garrett, and Coach Hull got a group of kids that train at his club to make a team.... it was great... kids got 5 matches in about 4 hours!
Roncalli is going to support and really push freestyle attendance at open tournaments with our club kids. We are also going to host a Freestyle Duals Meet on Sunday, April 23rd... we are hoping we can have some success with this event and really help grow Freestyle wrestling in Indiana....

When was the first year of middle school state?
I believe February of 2004 was year 1... I remember being an 8th grader and the wrestling went until 1:00am to 2:00am.... the tournament sure has come a long way since then... kudos to the IHSWCA and the ISWA for working together

Evan Smiley was a 2x champ. 4-1-1
Cody LeCount 3x Champ
Tommy Forte won 2x, runner up 7th grade year to LeCount.

Will be disappointed if separation criteria is not added. Hope that we don't see a match up like we saw with Garcia and Alec Viduya to start the day two years ago. It was a long day after that for Alec. Same with Drake Campbell. I think that Alec had to wrestle 11 times that year to get his true second. That was not safe, and can things be done to prevent this. Four years ago my son was coming off a great Novice year. He was a sixth grader and got the one seed at 110. He was NOT the one seed in my book (not even close). Now.... two years later he was good enough to be the one seed, but not as a sixth grader. He did not place as a sixth grader (missed it by one round). He was not the one seed as a returning finalist his 8th grade year, but won it all. Seeding tournaments using track profiles is fine for local tourneys. But.. it should not be done this way for state or national events. Profiles are too easy to manipulate, and kids are coming off good or bad years at an older or younger age groups.
Maybe this could be the seeding criteria:
1. Returning middle school state champ
2. Returning middle school state placer
3. ISWA folkstyle schoolboy state champ
4. ISWA folkstyle schoolboy top 4 placer
5. ISWA folkstyle novice state champ
6. ISWA folkstyle novice top 4 placer
But what do I know!!!
Yes, Alec V wrestled 11 matches in 11 hours... true story
Simple separation criteria would have prevented a good amount of the matches that he had to wrestle in the consos... since MS State can't be ran as a 2-day tournament due to the timing of it... then we need separation criteria because 1) it makes sense for such an elite tournament and 2) for the safety of the athlete.

Indiana Wrestling Royalty.... Coach Lance Ellis, will be our special guest this week in the room on Tuesday and Thursday night. Coach McClurg and Steven Bradley are out of town this week, but the room won't skip a beat with Coach Blackwell and the Roncalli staff.... We hope to see some IN wrestling killers of all ages in there scrapping, because summer wrestling makes winter champions!
The Clinch (over under body lock)... If anyone beats Coach Ellis in this position, then you can win an entry into "Ripleys Believe It or Not"

The Rebels will no longer be hosting a Freestyle Duals meet on April 23rd. Rebel Wrestling Foundation (RWF) will be hosting a Freestyle Qualifier event on Thursday April 20th that we are excited about. It will be very well ran with 2 full mats and 2 licensed officials for age groups PW-JR. Our goal is to get everyone a couple matches and out of the gym in a couple hours. We also understand with proms, SAT/ACT, spring breaks, baseball, etc. it gets very difficult to make it to 2 freestyle tournaments on 2 of the 4 weekends in April.... This event will count as 1 of your qualifiers for ISWA Freestyle State. Flyer and more information....
