  1. We (Carmel USA Wrestling Club) are looking at doing an Elementary Dual Meet with only 4 teams on a Saturday this year at Carmel High School... December 13th. One team will be Carmel and then 3 other schools. We think this is perfect for the young guys in your programs. We will start at 9am and be done and out of there by 1-2pm. Have to have USAW card to participate. This will fill up fast, let us know ASAP... we are doing one on November 22nd just like this and it filled up real fast. The ages will be K-6th grade. 15 Weight classes: 40, 44, 48, 52, 56, 60, 64, 68, 72, 76, 80, 85, 95,105,105+ Cost will be $150 per team cash or check to CUSAWC (15 kids on a team, for each kid over the 15 count it is $5 extra). So if you have 17 guys total, then cost is $160. If you have extras you are more than welcome to bring them, we will do our best to get everyone matches after each dual is over. Our goal is to make this a friendship environment but at the same time competitive. We will keep a dual meet score and wrestle 3 one minute periods. We love the idea of wrestling 3 quality matches Saturday morning and then be home in time to still enjoy your Saturday. Parents and the little guys will love this. We are looking for 100% sure commitments. We will take the first 4 teams that confirm for December 13th. Let me know if you want to do this. Then I will send you a roster sheet and more details when we get closer to the tournament date. We will go by the honors weigh in system, please don't abuse this. Email me if you have any questions/if you are interested! Wade McClurg wade.mcclurg@carmelusawrestling.org Carmel USA Wrestling Club Coach Carmel High School Assistant Coach

  5. I would put Vinny in the same breath because he is not only a 3x runner up, but also is a Junior Fargo All American also got 5th at Flo (both tournaments college coaches look at a lot, hint why he got such a great scholarship to Big 10 Rutgers). And I never said McCloskey is a nobody, so don't put words in my mouth. I was just trying to understand your logic
  6. No I'm saying Johnson-Jones, Duck, and that McClurg guy at 160lbs in 2013 that beat McCloskey in the semi state finals and the state finals... Those 3 guys all finished higher on the ihsaa podium than McCloskey ever did. Those three were state champs, that's all I'm saying. You're probably using the nhsca brackets to compare their high school careers. Maybe that's why I can't comprehend your logic.
  7. Y2, I guess we will always have the last laugh in 2013 at 160lbs... I can live with that. I agree Rypel is a great wrestler, just think it's a very premature to put him in Sliga's class with the statistics/results you came up with. Duckworth and Johnson-Jones were state champions and were successful in collegiate wrestling. Again I don't know how you think that puts McCloskey in their class as of right now (could change with how he does in college), sounds like a bias opinion to me.
  8. Touche Troll, I corrected it. He lost to Johnson-Jones at Semi State. Yes Y2, I am saying that placing 7th isn't the same as 3rd as a Freshman. "Some Cadet Titles in Fargo"... I didn't know those were so "easy" to win. It is the premiere competition in the country for high school wrestlers. And yes I am also saying 4 for 4 at Cadets in Fargo is more impressive than an NHSCA Sophomore Division title.
  9. That's a bold statement. Sliga prior to junior season... won Folkstyle Nationals as a Freshman. He won 4 Fargo Titles (4 for 4, 2 freestyle and 2 Greco) all before his junior year. Fargo is the biggest and toughest test for high school kids in the country. He got 3rd at Super 32 before his Sophomore year. He also got 3rd at state as a freshman, losing to Atwood in semis (multiple time NCAA qualifier, currently ranked top 10 in country as a senior at Purdue). He got 3rd as a sophomore too, losing to a guy who went on to compete at the next level as well Sliga also made the world team after his junior season, going on to get 5th in the world that summer. Then his senior year he went out and won the prestigious junior national Fargo freestyle title. And he dominated his last 2 seasons of high school including winning by fall in both state finals matches. Placed at fila juniors before his senior year... beat multiple guys that won matches at the NCAA Division 1 tournament that year. No disrespect to Rypel he's a great wrestler, but don't forget how impressive Mitch Sliga was and still is on and off the mat. Great kid who got it done in the classroom and on the wrestling mat at a high level. Excited to watch him compete this year as a Redshirt Freshman at Northwestern!
  10. Bump... We are getting a great response, and have had some big names in the Indiana high school wrestling world sign up. Make sure you sign up using the google doc link found above. The flyer is also on our website www.carmelusawrestling.org Thanks!

  21. Kevin Whitehead: As he's getting on the podium "He's the best... He's the best... He's the best... 3 times for Beech Grove's Steeeeven Bradley!"
  22. I can't speak for all 14 of last year's IHSAA State Champions, but I can speak for the 2013 IHSAA 160 lbs State Champion. He weighed out of every practice during the season at 160 or below.
  23. Benny Harvey is a Junior this year... 7th as a freshman @ 113, 3rd as a sophomore @ 126... I am not sure why that bracket has him listed as a senior from last year. It must have been a typo.
  24. Wagner got lateraled in the last 15 seconds of the match while being up 5-2.... He didn't get pinned, but he did get thrown for 2 takedown + 3 back points... to lose 7-5 to Jason Fryar who began wrestling as a sophomore in high school. Fryar was 6' 11", just a super big dude. Paulie Petrov was a killer and still is, considering the fact that he is a Division 1 varsity wrestler for Bucknell. He was blessed with some God given talent, but he works extremely hard at everything he does. A very motivated person in the classroom, as well as on the wrestling mat. But.... I will admit I was surprised the way Petrov was able to dominate Mason Todd in the state semi finals as seniors, because he dropped a 3-2 decision to Todd the previous year in the state semi finals. I think it's a testament to the way he worked all off season and prepared for that 3rd weekend in February his senior year... he left no stone unturned!
  25. Thanks Nick! Bump.... This will be a great camp to prepare for the national dual competitions in June for schoolboys, cadets and juniors. A lot of the club kids at the youth and high school level have already committed to coming, and there is a possibility of quite a few out of state kids coming in for it as well. The quality of kids at this camp will be awesome. Spots still open since we are having it in LN's huge room... Let us know soon if you want to be apart of it!
