  1. Unfortunately this is how he and his ilk conduct themselves when discussing a controversial issue. Beacon of tolerance and diversity...unless it's diversity of opinion. In that case, they have no tolerance. His rebuttal will be he doesn't tolerate, "racist behavior," never mind there is not one piece of evidence that would suggest this incident has anything to do with racism other than the wrestler involved is black. Any fair-minded person would see that the coach, wrestler, and official all play a part in this unfortunate incident but somehow the coach and kid get a pass and the official is the racist boogey-man. At the end of the day, the kid did not report legally equipped to wrestle and the official enforced the rule. The kid could have forfeited the match and then made sure he had a legal head cover for the next meet. He chose to cut his hair mat-side which is on him and his coach. Yes, this should have been resolved at weigh-ins and the official is at fault for that mistake. Again, all three parties are at fault for this debacle.
  2. Call me whatever name you'd like but you have no evidence to support this had anything to do with race. I do find people like yourself comical...building straw man arguments to appease your political ideology. I've never taken the official's side, merely pointing out that many people played a role in this unfortunate incident.
  3. There's no evidence to support race played a role in this incident. He had one issue with another official in the past but that doesn't mean it played a role here. I find it comical that you don't see the irony in your presumption of race in this incident. The minute you heard it was a black student-athlete, you start banging the race drum. You seem to care more about race than everyone else involved in this incident.
  4. There is no evidence pointing to this being anything about race and for you to suggest otherwise is ridiculous. If this young man were white, would anyone be questioning this official's decision to enforce the rule? Highly doubtful. I find it comical that so many desperately try to play the race card to take attention/blame away from the coach and wrestler. Incredibly pathetic...
  5. Using your logic, any time this official enforces a rule against a wrestler who is not white, it becomes a racial issue? Yikes...that is incredibly misguided bordering on ignorant.
  6. It doesn't help that Jordan Burroughs has chimed in on Twitter excoriating the official but not mentioning the fact that the coach and wrestler also share responsibility for not reporting legally equipped. I'm not condoning what transpired mat side but it's sad to see a gold medal winner perpetuate the, "It's someone else's fault," mentality. I also find it baffling that somehow the race card got played as well when the kid didn't have the proper hair covering. It truly frightens me what kind of leaders we are producing after seeing incidents like this and seeing how many people are giving the coach and wrestler a pass on their role.
  7. Don't flatter yourself, nobody is upset. I simply pointed out the lopsided seeding. It's unfortunate Jim did not have the most updated information when he constructed the bracket. Overall, another good day of wrestling in the Region.
  8. I find it hard to believe that Culver wasn't aware they would be forfeiting all of those weights. From my understanding, they had multiple kids out for ACT testing. If they didn't report that to Jim than it's on them for the lopsided seeding. Regardless, it is a joke when the 3 seed finishes 14th out of 16 teams.
  9. Culver as the three seed is an absolute joke. I would love to know what Jim was thinking there. Any other first round results?
  10. Good luck getting your kid the necessary qualified weigh-ins in your example. I've run into this a few times and my wrestlers literally had .2 or .3 wiggle room for a qualified weigh-in.
  11. Does anyone find it ironic that a coach from a school reprimanded by the IHSAA for recruiting violations is now on this thread supporting unfettered transferring?
  12. Southmont new head coach -- Jamie Welliever
  13. Southmont -- Kevin Wilkinson -- Open
  14. That is one of the worst calls, considering the circumstances, I have ever seen. Fattore was not flat for two seconds as the rule mandates. The fact that other officials are on here defending that call is comical. I understand bad calls happen and accept that nobody is perfect but when other officials try to stand by an egregious call like this, it makes you wonder about the honesty or competence of officials in general.
