  1. Are parings for this tournament available yet?
  2. lol Perhaps I would but I honestly don't know you by any name other than "RankingsGuy"
  3. If at all possible, I think it would be cool if you could add somewhere on the rankings where each wrestler was ranked the previous week. Just an idea!
  4. Also any idea of what admission will be?
  5. Can anyone tell me the projected start times of each round? I plan on coming but wont be able to make it till a little later in the day... just want to be aware of what i may/may not miss.
  6. #1 Andrew Howe (Wisconsin) defending National Champion at 165 vs #2 Jordan Burroughs (Nebraska) 08-09 157 National Champion needless to say these two wrestlers are great at what they do. Has Andrew wrestled anyone of this caliber? Very debatable. Burroughs proves very tough i mean look at these matches, "Burroughs earned his third major decision of the year against Iowa State's Cyler Sanderson, defeating him 14-6 in the quarterfinals. In semifinal action, Burroughs claimed another major decision with a 12-4 victory over third-seeded Gregor Gillespie of Edinboro, and topped second-seeded and undefeated Michael Poeta of Illinois, 5-1, in the final." (08-09 ncaa's) Clearly smashed his way through a tough bracket to win a national title. Moving up a weight class somewhat changes the game, especially coming off a season ending knee injury. Aside from his family and maybe a couple other people in this world, I would like to see Andrew go 3-0 against Burroughs more than anyone. I'm also pretty confident he will. Wrestling people like Burroughs is what Howe lives for, tough matches that push him farther than hes ever had to push him self before is what this man gets off on. The reason why Howe wins wrestling matches isn't because hes the most technical wrestler in the world, its because in every match he tries to break his opponent. devildog47959: i completely agree that Howe will take the first match because I doubt Burroughs has wrestled someone like Howe, in the aspect that his goal in every match is to break his opponent. Match two might be a game changer, because once Burroughs figures this out about Howe, he might come prepared with a more strategical game plane. None the less I can't wait for these matches to happen. Good Luck to Howe in route to title number two.
  7. Perhaps it is because he beated him rather than just BEAT him.
  8. I have seen him wrestle, just not in white and red before.
  9. I'm confident that the region will have 4+ state champs this year. Roach and Tsirtsis are hungry for another each, If Stephan Micic can put on another 5 pounds by February he will be very hard to beat, even in the state tournament. Paul Petrov has stepped his game up, i know he didn't give Phillips a great match last year, but he definitely put the work during the off season and it shows. Lets not forget returning champ Kyle Ayersman of Lake central, Looked great at the harvest classic, pinning Danny Rodriguez in the finals. Jake Fauque from Crown Point (to make number three) is a beast. 135 is a very open weight class this year, if he brings the a-game come state he should be atop the podium along with Roach and Tsirtsis. If all of these guys compete and finish to my liking, thats six.
  10. Unfortunately i wont be able to see it for myself, but I cant wait to hear of the outcome. Penn having over 100 wrestlers come out is pretty good for the sport itself, and specifically for them as well. Even if they dont come out on top this year, hopefully well see big things from penn in years to come.
  11. Cosgrove was at ccsj for second semester of last year, and told me he was going to transfer back to purdue. I'm not 100% sure how that went. Wes is married to Michelle Webber who was a wrestler at north newton. some people familiar with region wrestling might be aware of her. They have a son together, and for now i think hes just trying to run a family. I know he had been getting into the mma stuff, he and Derek Allen of Knox fought a year or so back, but i don't think he messes with it any more.
