Cary is doin what his brother did - under da radar wit injuries / he is wraslin real good/ I'm likin a region final

Rump is rollin real strong too / I tink we are going tom get our share of da gold

I am hopeful that you're right.

  2. I can't help but comment on the outstanding performance of Portage at sectionals: 11 champs, 2 runners up, and a 3rd. Even though their sectional doesn't have the depth some of the Indy schools are seeing this year, I'd say that's quite impressive.

What other teams had an outstanding showing at their respective sectional?

  3. We saw an article on the board over the weekend about rivalries. I think its clear we are seeing a new rivalry blossom in Covaciu and Lawrence. Covaciu has a big lead in the win count but Lawrence has closed the gap and it would be my guess that he is interested in a title in 2016 that requires him and Covaciu in the same bracket. the semi state finals was as good between these two as the finals match at state. While the region was talking about the black/reitz matches (which were a joy to watch as well) i think many counted Lawrence out against Covaciu.

  4. As much success as guys like Howe, Hump, and Angel have had at the senior level. You would think that some of our top Cadet and Juniors would want to go wrestle these tournaments including Central Regional, State, Fargo, Junior and Cadet Duals to make themselves better. Chad Red wrestles at these tournaments including the top folkstyle tournaments in the nation because he knows it will make him better. I hear a lot of coaches put down freestyle and greco instead of using it as a spring board to greater things because "folkstyle is the only way to be" You wont be the best in the world, you wont even be the best in your own country maybe even your own state without freestyle and greco.

to add to this, lets not forget that we dont wrestle folkstyle in the olympics...

  5. i would say the worst part of this entire thing is the fact that many wrestlers would have to travil an hour+ to get to a qualifying tournament. Its really gut wrenching to see how badly FS and GR fell off in recent years. Indiana used to be huge in these styles, now its the opposite. BOO!
