  1. I know Union County is 7-0 so far. Round 1: union over Forrest park 80-0 Round 2: union over south spencer 67-12 Round 3: union over Louisville trinity 59-9 Round 4: union over north posey 78-6 Round 5: union over Evansville Reitz 53-18 Round 6: union over Evansville harrison 72-9 Round 7: union over south ridge 54-24. Results from twitter @uc_wrestling
  2. Precaution for a previous shoulder injury. He will face spraggins at the union county duals later in the season. If I had to guess, he wrestled the match against mater Dei today instead of forfeiting and giving up team and advancement points to them.
  3. First time someone has beaten Mater Dei at their own tournament. Few people saw that small town kentucky team coming in and doing that but I did see a few. Some of the Mater Dei fans were embarrassing in their actions. Probably one of the best tournaments I have seen in a long time. New Pal and Belleville are great additions. Cash looked hurt at the end, hope he is ok. Kid has a bright future ahead of him. The Mater Dei 160 looked impressive, as well as both 106 finalists. The Kennedy vs Dezember final was a nail biter, Kennedy needs to learn to wrestle to win instead of wrestle to not lose. Bryant, the trinity heavy was weighing around 220 and wrestling up. Mater Dei heavy had a crazy sudden victory match in the semis with the New Pal heavy. Franklin Communities guys all look like they take a weightlifting class for a couple hours a day, most were jacked. Brock Ervin won his 4th mater Dei classic, going for his 5th next year. Overall, great tournament.
  4. A few years ago union had the lead going into the second day. Maybe 2008? Did Franklin have the lead last year after day 1?
  5. Once again, wild seeding. #2 seed going down first round. He should've never been matched with a guy who placed third the year before at state. Good win for Dezember.
  6. I haven't looked at the brackets much but seeing how a guy who got 3rd at state last year didn't get seeded and has the #2 seed right off the bat is wild. Can't wait for tomorrow.
  7. Spraggins actually won by decision over Jayce last year. Put Jayce on his back at one point. Kid is a stud! Also a note worth mentioning, Jeffrey Wurth might be done wrestling. Illness has happened which was a pretty scary situation, and from what I heard, gabe Ervin is at 132 now. Unfortunate events for a senior who has been wrestling since a little kid. Hope what I heard turns out to be untrue because no kid deserves that. Sounds like mater dei classic will be stacked yet again.
  8. Saw on twitter union took 3rd with 5 individual champs. 126-Brock Ervin. 138-gabe Ervin. 145-jayce Carr. 152-chad gahafer. 182-devin smith. Figured they would be without wurth due to recent issues that came up. Where was Trae Blackwell at? Know memorial edges union 36-35 and trinity won on criteria with 39-39 tie with union. That's all updates I have seen.
  9. Ok I must be wrong then. Thanks for correcting me! Do they allow middle schoolers to compete at the harrison 10-way?
  10. Union's lineup is confusing. They have been throwing guys around in a few different weights. Since 8th graders can't wrestle varsity in Indiana, their varsity 106 will be someone completely different for their two indiana tournaments, including the MD holiday classic. (unless Indiana changed their ruling on middle school wrestlers competing in high school). 106:?? 113: ? Robbie Dezember placed 3rd at state last year, but not sure he is at this weight yet. (grew up in the Mater Dei youth program) 120: Trae Blackwell (3x placer, state champ last year) 126: Brock. Will not be touched, unless a close match with his cousin Logan Wedding happens again. 132: ? Jeffrey Wurth (2x placer). 138: They have thrown Gabe Ervin in at 138 and 145 this year, but this spot most likely belongs to Jayce Carr (2x champ, 4x placer) 145: Chad Gahafer (state placer) 152: ? Gabe Ervin/ or freshman sensation Jackson Oxford. 160: ? 170: Kane Morris 182: Bryan Carter 195: Devin Smith 220: Sherman, freshman. HWY: Raynel Brown Trinity will be bringing some studs with them as well. Both of these lineups are shaken up. Trinity just finished with football 2 weeks ago and Union has been all over the place with their middle weights.
  11. The new KY pre-season rankings just came out and I saw a familiar name at the top of the 120 weight class. Did nathan boston really move to perennial powerhouse woodford county?
  12. Blackwell, last years 103 MD champ won't be there. Injured his foot 2 weeks ago. Switch Ervin to 126 and put Wurth at 120.
  13. Union went 4-0 with victories over forest park, Louisville Trinity, south Spencer, and southridge. Ervin has been out with the meniscus injury since super32. Figured he be wrestling at 120 and not 126 where.Logan is. How'd memorial look? I always like to keep up with them since my roommates wrestled there a few years ago. Reffing a different tournament tomorrow so it will be the first time Im missing Harrison in 10 years. Keep us updated!
  14. Coach, are you going to Beast or Harrison?
  15. Interesting matchups? I know a few of the weight classes for trinity and union. Could be changed though by now. Potential Union Lineup 106: Robbie Dezember (son of former Mater Dei wrestler Bobby Dezember) 113: Trae Blackwell (3rd @ state @ 103) 120: Brock Ervin??(Hasn't wrestled since super32, 2x undefeated KY State champ, just a soph) or 120: Jeffrey Wurth (7rh @ state last year?) 126:Wurth/ Justin Whitaker 132: Jayce Carr (130 state champ last year) 138: Chad Gahafer (5th @ 125 last year) 145: ?? maybe Gabe Ervin 152: Jake Risinger 160: Spencer Hullet 170: Beau Sheffer 182: ?? 195: ?? 220: Reshawd Wilkins 285: Raynel Brown Trinity: 106: Danton Rice 113:Stephen MAtheny 120:Jacob Miles 126: Ian Kahl (State placer) 132:Cody Webb 138 John Fahy (Committed to Illinois, 3x state champ) 145: ??? 152: Brent Hitchings (Ranked 1st in state, state runner up?) 160: Nick Sarkis 170:Trevor Fultz 182:Bobby Bryant (State placer) 195: Jordan Miller 220: Brendan Darrow (state placer, Ranked 2nd in state) HVY: ??? Trinity ranked 4th in state as a team, Union ranked 2nd as a team (defending state team champions)
  16. 126/120. Not sure. He made scratch 120 for Super32. Unions lineup is all jacked up. Have good wrestlers but not near close to what they projected it to be. Will be drastically different week to week.
  17. Ervin had knee surgery on meniscus after the Super32. Will be wrestling at Evansville Harrison Ten-Way.
  18. anyone have any information from this weekends castle duals? Who won, who came in second, all that good stuff? EDIT: DELETE THIS. FOUND RESULTS IN THE RESULTS PAGE
  19. Will this count? Isaac Knable- Louisville St. Xavier (Assistant)
  20. To put things in perspective, that will be Kentucky Country Day's last wrestler for a while now that Hendren is graduating. He was the only one on the team and trained with St. X everyday and traveled with St. X to tournaments. He is a senior and they are shutting the program down. Keaton Thomas (135, UC) placed third after being runner up to Honeycutt at 140 at the MD Classic. Brock Ervin is still undefeated after his 8th and 9th grade seasons, only giving up 2 takedowns all season. Carr, with his glasses and calm demeanor, he is goofy enough to deceive you but when he gets on the mat, he is one of the most skilled and technical wrestlers at the 130 weight class. I can see where the librarian reference came from haha. Buckman (189, UC) tore his ACL at the Harrison 10-way tournament and was told not to wrestle ever again but was persistent and found a doctor out of Indy (thank you for that whoever you were) that cleared him without requiring surgery. Thats why he didnt wrestle at Mater Dei.
  21. From what my roommates were telling me after they got back from Evansville Semi-State, Weekly (145 Jville) could find a way at a potential upset if Roach doesn't bring it. I think they said roach,? not sure of the indiana wrestlers since I wrestled in KY.
  22. Congrats Logan on your 2nd place finish. That pin over Van Hook was huge! You deserve this.
  23. Coming up in a few minutes, the extreme makeover is taking place at the residence of the Lampe's (Louisville) Their sons both participated in this years Mater Dei Holiday Classic with John Lampe winning the 160 weight class and Justin Lampe coming in 4th at 119. Just heads up if anyone likes watching the show.
