  1. Eville had 7 champs. The strength of each semi state seems to change from year to year. Merriville seemed to dominate last year.
  2. It worked great for me. It was almost as good as being there.
  3. It is always fun to try and pick the winners. However it never truley happens the way we think it is supposed to. I remember regional qualifiers beating state qualifiers (Castles 215 Robinson vs PM). If Castle's stud wins that one, they would have wrestled CP iin the finals that year. You never know who is going to get sick, caught in a headlock, or injured. So to say something is a sure thing (except for Tsirtes and Roach) is puting the cart before the horse.
  4. I posted the about Boots' draw before they came out. I mentioned it because of Stevenson and Goldman both being undefeated at that weight. I didn't know if Sandwith would have drawn into one of them. Fortunately, he did not. I think Boots earned his draw last year, after beating Goldman in the round to go.
  5. Overall it was a great day of wrestling. Just my opinion below. 103 Kuhn is tough. I see him placing at state. 112 Johns did what he had to do today. I wouldn't say he dominated Goebel since 5 of his six points came from a headlock. After 17 minutes of wrestling (sectionals and today) with Mastison, someone has to be stalling!! 119 Tough weight class. I can see Welch, Vanhook, and Wedding going to state 125 Matchick76 said it before "how many 1-0 matches have Moody been in?" 0 shots against Henderson and rode him out for 2 minutes with legs in. 130 WOW! Hoehn and Brown qualified for state last year and now they paced 3-4. Mangold looked awesome today. 135 Solid weight class. Good to see Konrath and Dowdy wrestle a good match 140 Rueger is smooth, but Lannert is getting better 145 Whetstine wrestled well all day today 152 Welch - Suprised to see Marshall lose in the first round 160 Welch - they both should win state. Would of been a great match if Sims was healthy. 171 Stein looks unbeatable. Haire pulled off a huge upset over Brandenstein 189 Boots vs Sandwith what was with the stalling calls? They should of been called during the 112 and 125 match. Boots should get a better draw 215 Boehm wrestled a great match against Wright. More action than the 112 and 125 match combined. 285 Vanwinkle stays undefeated. Hopefully O'Connel will be able to wrestle next week. Overall some great wrestling. Looking forward to Roberts Stadium next week.
  6. If they wrestle on Thursday and get another pound upon the 3 already, would they be able to legally make weight on Saturday?
  7. MD gets 6 champs Reitz gets 3 Mount Vernon get 3 Memorial gets 2
  8. Was the Reitz guy Shane Ritter? I'm guessing the Castle guy was Pettijohn.
  9. 103 Kuhn Seng 112 Goebel Mastison 119 Wedding Welch 125 Moody Henderson 130 Kelly Brown 135 Schroeder Dowdy 140 Rueger Lannert 145 Whestine Chamberlain 152 Welch Weinzapfel 160 Welch Sims (if he wrestles) Schneider if he doesn't 171 Brandenstein King 189 Boots Sandwith 215 Wright Schnar 285 VanWinkle Reitz Kid You throw in Johns (112) Vanhook (119) Mangold (130) Riggs (145) Prasek (152) and Warren (171) it will be one heck of a tourney. I think the clear favorite is MD to win.
  10. The 160 pounder was Nick Miller. State runner-up that year.
  11. I think he is refering to swashbuckler. Not coach crow.
  12. Is it the introduction of Team State? It has been around for 15 years, which many have stated they have noticed a difference within the last decade. Coaches have to focus on developing a feeder program to win a championship rather than have 3-4 wrestlers to focus on. Just a thought.
  13. I think MD will take it tonight, 33-20. 103 R 3-0 112 MD 3-3 119 R 7-3 125 R 10-3 130 MD 10-6 135 MD 10-9 140 R 14-9 145 R 17-9 152 MD 17-12 160 MD 17-18 171 MD 17 -21 189 MD 17-27 215 R 20-27 285 MD 20-33 I think 125, 130, 135, 145, 171, and 215 could go either way. If Reitz wins them all, it'll be a sad day for us wildcats.
  14. It also happened to Zeke Zenthofer. He made it to state at 125, then the next year didn't make varsity at 135. I think it was 2008??? This happens quite a bit. Wrestle varstiy one year, then back on reserve the next. Trevor Appell, Tyler Raben, and Alex Schneider to name a recent few.
  15. Mater Dei and Merriville will both be at the Gateway Duals in St. Louis.
  16. Reitz wins at 103, 119, 125, 140, 145. I think 135,171, and 215 could go either way. However, I still think MD wins by 12 points.
  17. 171 Brandstein (MD) won over Henderson (KD) 189 Boots (MD) over Sandwith (Mem) 215 Prittle (Avon) over Wright (MD) 285 VanWinkle over Flynn (Trinity) The Kentucky teams brought some very good individuals which won titles at 103, 112, 125, 130, 135, 140, 152, and 160.
  18. MD Zach Henderson 125 Josh Boots 189 John Sims 160 Justin VanWinkle 285
  19. Thought I'd make a list of some good wrestlers in each weight class. If you have any others, add some the list. 103 - Kennedy (FL), Blackwell (UC), Vibbert (MD) 112 - Ervin (UC), Goebel (MD) 119 - Wedding (EM) 125 - Fahy (TR), Kief (FC), Henderson (MD) 130 - Carr (UC), Hoehn (MV), Mangold (MD), Woods (Fr) 135 - Hitchings (TR), Konrath (MV), Schroeder (MD) 140 - Lannert (MD), VanHorn (FC), Thomas (UC), Honeycutt (StX) 145 - Whetstine (EM), Weinzapfel (MD) 152 - Ervin (UC), Marshall (MV), Raben (MD), Prasek (EM), Bowen (FC), Bennett (Fr) 160 - Sims (MD), Lampe (StX), Shrader (Fr) 171 - Brandenstein (MD) 189 - Boots (MD), Sandwith (EM) 215 - Knura (FC), Darrow (TR) 285 - VanWinkle (MD), Flynn (TR), Snyder (AV)
  20. Last year there ended up being 8 KY state champions at this tourney. 4 of those are returning. The Ervins (UC), Fahy (Trinity), and Lampe from St. X.
  21. Franklin TN will have some quality wrestlers there. They have some ranked wrestlers at 125, 130, 152, 160 and 135 is honerable mention. I've never seen them wrestle but heard this addition to the Holiday Classic has made it more competitive. I would take Fahy from Trinity at 125, Ervin at 112 and Caleb Ervin from UC wherever he goes. This may be hard for MD to come away with several champs. These maybe have a chance 130, 135, 140, 160, 171, 189, 285.
  22. Any news about what has happened so far individually?
