Just checking before I buy. My daughter and her friend only want to go Friday for 106-144 weights. Is that the session 1 ticket that says 1:30?

I would include Drew Lappe from MD in 2007. He place 4th at state as a sophomore and had high hopes of placing again as a junior. He had a loaded regional and found himself going for 3rd place. He lost a close one to Price from North Posey and didn’t qualify for semi-state.

I do see a decline this year as well. After looking at all the rosters, there are only 2 teams that have 4 seniors on them. All the other schools have less than 4. Maybe this has an impact on why we think there is a decline?

Matt Powless from Memorial is making a name for himself at IU right now. -
1997 MD vs Carmel in the semis Carmel won the IHSWCA coach's trophey the week before and MD had some injuries in their line up. At 152 the hurt MD guy came from behind to pin his guy. The place was rocking after that. Then the hurt MD 189 guy pins his opponent from Carmel to seal the win.

It was a great experience for the wrestlers and fans. The facility was top notch. I have been to the Iceman games, and UE basketball games there and the atmosphere is electric. So the one thing I would like to see is the jumbo tron turned on and have the camera men scan from mat to mat so people not from Evansville can see what the Ford Center is all about.

MD sent 11 in 1996 and 2007. They sent 10 in 2003.

I am excited to see the wrestling mats unrolled in the new Ford Center. This facility will blow away the other semi states sites. The atmosphere will be electric come finals time. 106 - Kuhn over Seng 113 - It all depends on the draw. I think all 4 could win on any given day. 120 - Goebel over Johnson 126 - Wedding over Vanhook 132 - Moody over Schroeder 138 - Lannert over Kelley 145 - Bassmeier over Hoehn (again the draw is a huge factor. who gets what seed?) 152 - Rueger over Folz 160 - Parkinson over Colcavecia 170 - King over Campbell (did not wrestle in the SIAC to keep his #1 seed IMO) 182 - Brandenstein over Meyer 195 - Maurer over Lane 220 - Schnarr over Collins 285 - Wright over Little I think Moody, Rueger, Maurer, and Brandenstein are going to dominate their weight classes. I do think Wedding wins (only because I think he will default in the finals to rest). Goebel and Johns in the semis will again be a good match. I just think Sam pulls this one out again. Whoever gets the first takedown always seems to win. 145 has 5 good wrestlers. It is a shame one had to end his season 1 week early. 113 is also a tossup. I think that is all related to the draw each one gets. Anyone of those 4 wrestlers could win. It will be a great day of wrestling, with MD picking up the sectional title.

What team sends most to State this Year?

MD sent 11 to state in 1996 and 11 in 2007 which I believe is the most. This year I can see about 6-7 making the trip this year. -
I would like to refine my earlier prediction. 106 Reitz 4-0 113 MD 4-3 120 MD 4-6 126 MD 4-10 132 Reitz 7-10 138 MD 7-13 145 MD 7-16 152 Reitz 11-16 160 MD 11-19 170 Reitz 14-19 182 MD 14-25 195 MD 14-31 220 MD14-34 285 MD 14-40 Hearing that VanHook is out is a huge swing in the dual. If I were Coach Schafer, I would wrestle Dane at 220 against Schnarr only if Collins can make 195. Word on the street(newspaper) is that Reitz may not wrestle all of their regulars tonight. That is why I have the score so lopsided.

I think MD scores more bonus points picking up the win. Haven't heard much about Appel at 145 from Reitz. Is he hurt, will he be wrestling?? If the meet starts out at 138 and MD gets out to a big lead and then win both 13 and 20 then the score would not show how even both these teams are.

Goebel will wrestle 120 starting next week. That is if he can beat Schwitzer during their wrestle off.

Should be a good tourney. I assume the teams are the same as last year. Here is a few names from the ranking sites. I don't know much about the KY rankings and the real weights. However, I know they are bringing some outstanding individuals. MD should still be solid. I don't know if they can upset PM, but I never would have thought LN would have beaten MD after MD beat CP either. 106 - Roeleder 9 113 - Seng 10 120 - Goebel 12 126 - Pierre 10 132 - Adler 12 138 - Lannert 12 145 - Schroeder 11 152 - Parkinson ?? 11 160 - Bassmeier 12 170 - Schneider 11 182 - Brandenstein 12 195 - Maurer 12 220 - Collins 11 285 - Wright 11 This is sort of a guess of who will be wrestling where. They will have some new faces this year, but they should all put up a fight on the mat this year. -
MD will be solid with 6 returning lettermen. That's Lennie May. He wrestled for MD for three years. Reitz will have 3 former MD wrestlers start for them on varsity this year.

It's a sad day here on the westside of evill. MD pulls off a great win against CP, then folds to LN. Too many mistakes, too many pins, MD was overlooking LN and it bit them in the end. Wright and Brandenstein should have won their matches. The others should have stayed off their backs. This was a total team collapse.
