1. I was a prodigy child graduated from college at age of 15. She was a cougar!! ;D I am still only 16... wrong again dang it!!! Anyway what seed does the kid get? I am curious. recommend: put forward something with approval as being suitable for particular purpose ...synonyms: advise, suggest, counsel in a sentence: I would like to recommend this realtor to you when selling your house. consider: to think carefully before making a decision....synonyms: think, ponder, deliberate Not the same I have to admit but pretty close... they were threating castration Dude!!! We dont have to split hairs on this one!!! in a sentence: I would like you to consider this realtor for selling your house.
2. KevinL: 15 years, thats amazing :. I never took homeEc although I did date a homeEc teacher once in college..... it isnt what it is, it is CONSIDERATION... so I used the wrong word are we going to argue semantics?? lets not split hairs here.... Here is a good question for you. Wrestler finishes 2nd in state as a Junior. He is injured early in senior season and comes back week before sectional but only has 8 matches non of which are against sectional opponents or common opponents. He is one weight class above the previous year. Where is he seeded? I look forward to your answer!!!! Be sure to use that 15years of adult experience and the consideration of criteria listed in the IHSAA 2011/2012 winter bulletin. I provided below. 5. Coaches should strive to keep u]open minds when seedings are being decided. The main objective of seeding is to have outstanding wrestlers separated in the brackets so that they will not meet each other until the fi nals. Seeding shall be based upon the wrestler's proven ability and not upon the desire for unwarranted advantage. 6. Consideration for determining seeded wrestlers is given in order of importance: a. Head to head competition; (The wrestler with the most head to head wins gets the seed. If they have beaten each other an equal number of times, then the winner of the last match gets the seed.); b. Record against common opponents; c. A returning champion or runner-up in the same weight class; d. A contestant with the best overall record (winning percentage) who has wrestled at least 10 matches; NOTE: A wrestler with less than ten matches may not be seeded ahead of a wrestler with at least ten matches and a winning record unless he/she meets criteria in a, b or c. A wrestler with a losing record may not be seeded unless he/she meets criteria a, b or c unless there are less than six (6) wrestlers in the bracket. You are right I said Recommended not consideration. B
3. Julio, this is a serious topic dude, however is there a problem to bringing in some humor from time to time? KevinL: Again, you are out of your element. Seeding a tournament is suppose to be done to keep the best wrestlers away from each other. The IHSAA issues Recommended seeding criteria.... If you go by those strictly, then why even have seed meetings? You could have a committee use the criteria and seed the tournament. The point here dude is coaches know what is right they know who is the best but yet sometimes they hide behind the seeding criteria to gain an advantage for team points or to avoid someone tough in the semi-finals to try and advance. I have seen numerous times a #4 seed and a #1 seed meet in the semi finals an have a barn burner of a match and the #2 and #3 kids end up getting majored in the finals or for third.... what if a kid comes in with 9 losses but 6 of those were to the same kid ranked in state and all 6 losses happened by a combined 8 points. He is obviously the next best kid but gets seeded 4th and has to face that kid in semis.... because of Recommended criteria and not common sense am I WRONG!!!!
4. He is a wild card, from the sidelines to a contender, I would say he qualifies.... hope he keeps it up great kid!!! Unlike Larry who wont do his homework!!! Flunking social studies, a real brat!!! But at least he knows what happens when you *(*&*(#****(@#stranger $)%*#$#*(#(ss ;D
5. Ok calm down.... I am calmer than you are
6. Thats right Dude, I don't drive, answer the phone, use the stove, roll and I sure as crap DONT wrestle back....SHOMER SHABBAS!!!!
7. Yea Coops say what you want about getting caught, at least its an ethos!!!
8. ;D 28 you are correct jimtown thank you for helping me split hairs on the point!!!
9. So only 14 kids in the state get to enjoy that type of moment? Seems to me if we want to increase our numbers in the sport we should have more opportunites for kids to be showcased... some schools have multiple gyms so I suggest in basketball we have multiple games going on at once... afterall the semi-final rounds are just the journey to the big dance.
10. You missing my point Julio... 30-1 lost to a kid who is 17-18, so why should he be punished because he has a tougher schedule, he beat a kid with 30 wins!!!!!! How is it he gets seed below him????
11. I think if you talk to most kids who will be in finals they love the spotlight. Isn't it about the kids and making it seem like a special moment to be a conference, sectional, regional or semi-state champ? Of course Midlands is a big tournament as well and they have three mats going on in the finals. Tough call on this one dude!!! I would say coaches who like one mat finals have put in lots of time and want to enjoy the moment and will have several kids in finals and coaches who want to speed things up only have to wait around for thier third/fifth place ribbons and one mat finals keeps them away from their honey dos at home. Seems as if we are always in a hurry to get things done and sometimes don't stop to enjoy the moment. I for one am enjoying my coffee this morning!!! Am I wrong!!!???
12. If you are referring to seeding criteria I can chime in... we have a kid in our sectional who is 30-1. His loss is to a kid with an 17-18 record in same sectional. I would say 17-18 has a tougher schedule so does that mean he has 18 quality losses? If the 30-1 wrestler had same schedule would he be 17-18? Tough call who gets the higher seed? 17-18 lost to kid who was 24-19, but 30-1 beat 24-19? Have fun and figure this one out. Enjoying my coffee!!! Am I Wrong?!!!!
13. Well said coach Harmon!!! I think the ihsaa should implement a body index chart for football players. Anyone that is considered obese should not be allowed to participate and they should only be allowed to gain a healthy % of body weight per week. More people have health problems from being overweight than underweight in our society. Studies show that overweight kids are more than 10xluck likely to become overweight adults.
14. Midlands= Folkstyle.... Olympics = Freestyle... that could be why. Not for sure but possibility. He also could've been out looking for the Dudes car. Am I wrong?
15. NIC fan you are correct... someone comes in with a 10-1 record, no common oppenents and gets #1 seed and #2 and #3 seeds are really #1 and #2 seeds then the #2 could miss the finals. Somtimes in seeding meetings where coaches are emotional, common sense isn't common at all... AM I WRONG?!?!
16. get a hold of mitch daniels or tony bennett as they love charter schools. I bet they could find some public money to help you get it started. They would also be in favor of merit pay for coaches. The more your team wins, the more you get paid!!
17. It was a great meet, no lack luster here!!! Am I wrong?!?
18. That tape it can really tie a headgear together can it not!?! Am I wrong?!?
19. Having tape on head gear is OVER THE LINE!!! Stay on em ref!!! Am I WRONG!!
20. My buddies did not die face down in the muck to watch kids get dodged Dude!!! Its like those consciousnesses objectors suck it up get out there and take the butt whooping like a nihilist would...screw it let's go bowling! !!
21. Kevin-I am calmer than you are Edb41- at least someone understands ...isn't this guy a millionaire?
22. Calm down kevin your being very undude....he was just messing with you. They don't get our humor Dude! Like a child who wanders in a movie halfway through they have no frame of reference!! Am I wrong?!?!
23. December 8, 2011 North wrestlers rout West Vigo Spurgeon kicks off match with win David Hughes The Tribune-Star The Tribune Star Thu Dec 08, 2011, 05:00 AM EST TERRE HAUTE ? Terre Haute North won eight matches on the mat and two by forfeit en route to defeating host West Vigo 58-18 in high school wrestling Wednesday. Buddy Spurgeon got the Patriots off to a good start by pinning his opponent in 3 minutes, 12 seconds in the 152-pound weight class. Then freshman teammate Trey Grim (160) followed that with a pin in 48 seconds. ?He wrestles under control,? North coach Mark Frisz said of Grim, who used a front headlock that led to a cradle for the pin. ?He doesn?t make a lot of mistakes? He?s becoming very solid.? In the 170 class, North made it three in a row when Ryan Moshak won by default over Caleb Anderson, who was leading 4-3 in the second period when he hit his head on the mat and trainers determined he was unable to continue. ?They were in a double arm lock and our kid [Moshak] tossed their kid ? and I saw his head hit the mat,? Frisz said, ?so I knew there was some sort of injury.? ?His legs went straight and his body went limp [temporarily],? West Vigo coach Scott Rohrbach noted. ?We don?t know for sure if he was knocked out or what.? Anderson eventually got up, walked around and even helped put up the mat after the match. ?He?ll be evaluated Thursday,? added Rohrbach, who didn?t rule out the possibility of a concussion. At 182, Sam McClain picked up West Vigo?s first victory of the evening by pinning his foe in 32 seconds. Then the Vikings? Ben Bird (195) pinned North?s wrestler in 1:11 to close the gap team-wise. Forfeits determined the next three weight-class winners ? West Vigo?s Tyler Bell at 220, North?s Andrew Londo at 285 and North?s J.J. Low at 106 ? so the Patriots maintained a comfortable advantage. Frisz said the next three matches ? where his wrestlers won at 113 (Kyle Camp by decision), 120 (Eric Elia by pin in the first period) and 126 (Bryan Hyde by pin in the first period) ? secured the outcome. ?Kyle Camp, Eric Elia and Bryan Hyde, we felt like those guys would be our key matches that we had to win ? and they did,? the Patriots? coach pointed out. ?They wrestled very well.? A 17-5 decision for North?s Joe Fulk at 132, a forfeit triumph for North?s Devin Mundy at 138 and a 7-3 decision for North?s Caleb Ingle at 145 closed out the match. ?There are no excuses, but we had some kids out of the lineup because of injuries [including five usual starters],? Rohrbach mentioned. ?We have a lot of work to do. We?re not going to make excuses. We?re going to figure out what it takes to win.? Terre Haute North 58, West Vigo 18 152 ? Buddy Spurgeon (THN) pin. Kevin Stewart 3:12. 160 ? Trey Grim (THN) pin. Bobby Pruiett 0:48. 170 ? Ryan Moshak (THN) def. Caleb Anderson by default. 182 ? Sam McClain (WV) pin. Daniel Miller 0:32. 195 ? Ben Bird (WV) pin.
