Two announcements regarding team state qualifying (BOTH OF THESE ARE DUE TODAY--WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 17):

1. Don't forget to turn in injury information for your sophomore or junior wrestler who did not wrestle sectional, but who qualified last year for at least regional (for 1A schools) or semi-state (2A and 3A schools).  Details are on Page 5 of this document:

2. The IHSWCA Team State selection committee has passed an immediate rule addition that was previously not covered in its procedures:

Any sophomore or junior wrestler who did not compete at sectional due to being ruled transfer-ineligible according to the IHSAA, can have his previous season's advancement level count toward his current school's qualification score according to the same standards and calculation process as injury situations.  This means he must currently be a sophomore or junior, and he must have qualified in the previous season for at least regional (for 1A schools) or semi-state (for 2A and 3A schools).

To have this provision applied to your school's score, the head coach must scan a letter to IHSWCA data consultant Adrian Troyer (atroyer@swissmail.org), which includes the following items:

--Current grade and school of the athlete

--Previous season's school, record, and advancement level in the state tournament

--A statement saying clearly that the wrestler intends to wrestle next season and has been assured eligibility by the IHSAA

--Signatures of the head coach and a parent/guardian affirming the wrestler's intention to wrestle and eligibility next season

Tomorrow is the last day to submit information about injuries or transfer-ineligible wrestlers.  If you think your team had a sophomore or junior that could not wrestle sectional that qualifies for the either provision, please make sure your coach knows and have him read the above information and links!

So far, I have information from these schools:

Avon (Miranda)

Portage (Prado)

Guerin Catholic (Lazzara)

Churubusco (Leazier)
