Once Formidable
We (collectively as a state) probably haven?t helped the decline in freestyle and Greco-Roman numbers in our pursuit to become a top-tier folkstyle wrestling state. Did anyone catch the post-match interview with the Fighting Illini?s Mike Poeta on how freestyle wrestling has dramatically improved his folkstyle wrestling? Gives rise to the theory that maybe more isn?t always better.
Trinedad
Poeta was not the only one to mention that he was looking to go into freestyle after the nationals. I noticed 2-3 at least that mentioned freestyle. It seems to be a trend, the real quality guys, the ones that are always around at the end of the day seem to wrestle freestyle as well. Hmmm, I wonder if there is a connection to this freestyle thing.
