  1. what a great decision. although the pigtails matches aren't the greatest draws, the opportunity to compete was giving back to these young men. hats go off to the friends and families of randolph county wrestling. i'm guessing some people helped sway mr. cox with his decision based on his statement. Assistant Commissioner Bobby Cox. ?Extreme conditions sometimes require extreme measures and while I?m not 100% comfortable with this solution, it appears to be the best option for those student athletes in Randolph County and in the best interest of the tournament series.?
  2. David McCubbins -Monrovia David Palmer -Muncie South/Delta John Effner -Terre Haute South Keith Davidson -Chesterton Frank Patacsil -Logansport
  3. with the consolidation of anderson and anderson highland the oac goes from the state's smallest conference to a who knows what! and there's been talk of muncie south and muncie central merging. although none of the three remaining teams will challenge for team honors during the state series each has some quality individuals. many "what ifs" are being circulated. NORTHEAST HOOSIER ? Bellmont, Carroll (Fort Wayne), Columbia City, DeKalb, East Noble, Homestead, New Haven, Norwell has been mentioned but dekalb and east noble probably would dread the drive to connersville. WHITE RIVER ? Eastern Hancock, Knightstown, Lapel, Shenandoah is a four team group but size might be a factor (no pun intended). CENTRAL INDIANA ? Alexandria, Blackford, Eastbrook, Elwood, Frankton, Madison-Grant, Mississinewa, Oak Hill and HOOSIER HERITAGE ? Delta, Greenfield-Central, Mt. Vernon (Fortville), New Palestine, Pendleton Heights, Rushville, Shelbyville, Yorktown are nice options. NORTH CENTRAL ? Anderson, Huntington North, Kokomo, Logansport, Marion, Muncie Central, New Castle, Richmond is by far the best option based on current team schedules. the oac and ncc compete on a regular basis is all boys and girls sports. also, distance of travel shouldn't panic the athletic directors too much in the age of budget crunches. it may be this spring or summer but connersville, jay county, and muncie southside will have major restructering within their respective athletic programs. hopefully the future will be kind to these schools.
  4. this is an early callout to the in-state brawl. this line-up is not factual but possible. i have iu over pu 23-11 125 Pounds Cashé Quiroga vs. Angel Escobedo 133 Pounds Akif Eren vs. Matt Ortega 141 Pounds Jake Fleckenstein vs. Nick Viterisi 149 Pounds Nick Bertucci vs. Matt Coughlin 157 Pounds Colton Salazar vs. Kurt Kinser 165 Pounds Jason Martin vs. Paul Young 174 Pounds Luke Manuel vs. Trevor Perry 184 Pounds Nick Corpe vs. Eric Cameron 197 Pounds A.J. Kissel vs. Matt Powless 285 Pounds Roger Vukobratovich vs. Nate Everhart
  5. possible 171 lbs. guys that could pose a problem for mr. hostetler depending on their weight @ state tournament time. Luke Rieke- Garrett Adam Schrock- Lakeland Tyler Thomas- Carroll Austin Striggle- Whitko Jordan Hamilton- Churubusco Trent Castner- Yorktown
  6. probably can't even find these on ebay or google: blue and yellow vans. wore them in 198?........ at um camp trost and fraser hyped them up. funky look back in the day.
  7. trine/d3 is making some noise to be the best small school this year for indiana. hopefully this success will have other programs working hard to keep step. uindy is a team that could also score well @ d2 nationals in 2010.
  8. both young and kinser are just in your face types which has translated into success for them at the college level. coughlin works position well and doesn't get burnt easily but he doesn't have the knock out power of the other two. he's still a heck of an athlete and maybe the cut to 149 will give him a chance to showcase his talents. that's a heck of a cut but matt has the heart. palmer and metcalf won't be fun for whoever is there.
  9. kurt has his number. his style is much more attack oriented than matt's. 2010 has kinser at #14 [awn] and he just took msu open title so the balls already rolling. matt will have to wait and see if someone is injured or if there is a weight change in the line-up. young at 165 is too much for coughlin. kinser going 149 is his best shot to getting back in the rotation.
  10. angel escobedo is one of if not the most storied wrestler to come through the hoosier state. he has been a dominate force from his early years in club wrestling to the present. he took four state high school titles. 3x all-american and 1x national champion as a hoosier. but has his shoulder fully recovered to return to the top rung after troy nickerson [cornell] took the title in 2009?
  11. great to see casey [jc] win his match but was surprised to see him up @ 133. that middle school match between dc and pm was probably a barn burner too! do all the hounds go north to msu open this weekend or just a select group?
