  1. Salinas, Great post, class wrestling is silly and unnecessary in our state. If you have ever wrestled in Indiana you understand the value of having a single class, and the work it takes to be successful. Going to other states and laughing at them because they crowned 5 state champs at each weight, knowing the legitimacy of Indiana's single class is much tougher. Creating classes takes away from our sport in Indiana, I truly hope they keep the system the way it currently is, keeping our state finals the single greatest amateur sporting spectacle there is.
  2. Aaron Sessa - 2x runner-up Bryan Deutsch - 2x runner-up, lost to matt coughlin and paul young in the finals, lost sophomore year friday night to wesley english in a close match
  3. Ah, Jim Blake, yes I believe he did. That was the late 70's, I will ask Todd tonight whether or not he place and if so, what place, as he was good friends with Jim. He came into the room a couple times when I was in high school, the guy was an animal on top. Columbia City is one of the few schools to have multiple placers but never had a state champ
  4. Columbia City Bryan Deutsch - 2x runner-up, 4x state qualifier, 3x NCAA DI qualifier for Northern Illinois Todd Deutsch - 3rd place, Wrestled at Northern Iowa Dillon Deutsch - 3rd place, Wrestled at the Air Force Academy Blane Culp - 3rd & 5th place, Wrestled at Indiana University HM: Kyle Meinika - 4th place Eli Michel - 8th & 6th, Wrestled for the Naval Academy Nathan Strack - 8th & 5th Tony Dewitt - 5th place, served in Marines shortly after 9/11 Peter Deutsch - 8th & 6th Austin Egolf - 5th place *I apologize for any state placers that I missed
  5. I guess what this means is that Columbia City is the best school, by ratio..? Haha, nah I am kidding, great stats Y2!
  6. That is true, but regardless that is still a very impressive list of kids. Congrats to them, and best of luck
  7. Y2, always so negative about all matters. If thought about from an outside perspective, Andrew Howe and Reece Humphrey are both hard workers. If the 2012 Olympics is something they take seriously then both of them have very legitimate chances at making and doing tremendously well in London. Best of luck to any Indiana kids who decide to pursue an Olympic Dream!
  8. It depended on the weight class, on how many kids they took.
  9. Pre-Wildcard, which Indiana Natives have qualified for the 2009 Tournament? This is what I can think of, previous to what may happen with wildcard qualifiers: 125: Angel Escobedo - Indiana, Big Ten Champ 133: Reece Humphrey - Ohio State, Big Ten Runner-up 141: Alex Tsirtsis - Iowa, Big Ten 4th 157: Kurt Kinser - Indiana, Big Ten 6th 157: Bryan Deutsch - Northern Illinois, Mid-American Champ 165: Andrew Howe - Wisconsin, Big Ten Champ 165: Paul Young - Indiana, Big Ten 7th 184: Alex Dolly - Northern Iowa, West Qualifier 2nd
