  1. Toughest semi-state doesn't mean most crowned champions....look at the number of guys who were beaten out by the (champ). Some of those matches were closer than the state finals match ups. Some of you say...M ville because of champions but how many schools are you takling about....sure MD has dominated over the years, but really aside from the typical schools...MD, Griffith, Crown Point, Lawrence North and a few other power house schools you really have to see the number of studs who either dont get out of the ticket round due to match ups or even the guys who dont make it to the finals due to match ups.... Really in the end does it matter??? Those beaten in the go round, or qualifying round might say...give me the champ and if I can not beat him then who really cares about second place.... Regardless, you will be bias to whatever semi-state you come from because you havent been to the others...
  2. Roach beats weekly, but weekly is legit.
  3. Simms and Boots are only delaying the inevitable...I still can not believe how Boots beat Sandwith in the conso finals. What a weak call by the official. He should have lost twice Saturday. The 8-0 major decision Goldman over Boots was a beat down. 8-0 doesn't relate to how Goldman handled Boots. Simms needs to quick acting hurt. It's depressing. He has talent don't get me wrong, but come on man at least act like you aren't hurt....
  4. Predictions First, second, third 103 Hall (HA), Hipp (GS), VanHook (CA) 112 Kuhn (RE), Wedding (ME), Welch (CA) 119 Griesemer (PR), Quinton (ME), Moody (RE) 125 Henderson (MD), Brown (CA), Hoehn (MV) 130 Schroeder (MD), Begle (HH), Dowdy (RE) 135 Rueger (RE), Konrath (MV), Stewart (BO) 140 Whetstine (ME), Doud (CA), Graper (GS) Chamberlin will come in forth unless he can catch someone (3rd at best) 145 Welch (CA), Prasek (ME), Sims (MD) 152 Welch (CA), Marshall (MV), Colavecchia (ME) 160 Weikel (CA), Smith (PR), Brandenstein (MD) 171 Stein (PR), Weiss (HH), Boots (MD) 189 Rosebrock (CA), Price (NP), Sandwith (ME) 215 Froehlich (TC), Daugherty (CA), Adams (ME) 285 Daugherty (CA), Hammelman (MD), Lubbenhusen (HH)
  5. Predictions 103 Hall (HA) shouldnt have much trouble 112 Dunkel (GS) does he have a shot at Kuhn in the semis? 119 Griesemer (PR)? I think it will come down to Quinton (ME) and Griesemer (PR) 125 is kind of weak Henderson (MD) should win this without much trouble 130 is weak also Begle (HH) or Schroeder (MD) 135 Rueger (RE) is tough not much trouble 140 What about this Graper (GS) will he give Whetstine (ME) a match? Otherwise my pick is Whetstine (ME) 145 Welch (CA) hands down. Sims (MD) will probably not even make it to the finals 152 Welch (CA) no problems Marshall looked terrible at sectionals 160 another weak weight class...Smith (PR) vs Brandenstein (MD) Smith might take this one 171 Stein (PR) vs Weiss (HH) Stein is my pick 189 Rosebrock (CA) vs Price (NP) Rosebrock will win this one 215 Froehlich (TC) vs Adams (ME)/ Daugherty (CA) either way Froehlich (TC) has been looking good 285 Daugherty will kick Hammelmans butt if he can make it that far There are a lot of weak weight classes over all. The Castle Regional use to be stacked with a lot of studs. It seems there are only a few this year. 103 1 stud 112 there are a few (RE), (CA), (ME) 119,125,130 (WEAK) 135 (RE) 140 ha ha chamberlin has one move (FRONT HEADLOCK) (ME) and (CA) 145 (CA) what has happend to SIMS??? he was decent last year 152 (CA) 160 (WEAK) 171 STEIN (PR) decent but what happend against WEISS (HH) 189 Rosebrock is a stud but Price is looking weak 215 (TC) but who has he beaten (ME) is hit and miss, and (CA) is alright I guess 285 boring but Daugherty is pretty good what has happend to the evansville area wrestling...besides a couple of welchs', weddings', kuhn, seems like we have fallen off the state map. Don't get me wrong, we do have some good kids, but overall; Castle regional and Evansville Semi-state use to be the toughest of tough... thoughts and comments please....
  6. What are your thoughts on these picks? Weight Champ /Second/Third 103 - VanHook (RE) / Hall (HA)/ Vibbert (MD) 112- Wedding (ME)/ Kuhn(RE)/ Welch (CA) 119- Moody (RE)/ Lennert (MD)/ Quinton (ME) 125-Henderson (MD)/ Sulawska (NO)/ Backes (RE) 130- Dowdy (RE)/ Schroeder (MD)/ Wolf (HA) 135- Ruegar (RE)/ Weinzapfel (MD)/ Hodge (ME) 140- Whetstine (ME)/ Raben (MD)/ Chamberlin (CE) 145- Welch (CA)/ Sims (MD)/ Prasek (ME) 152- Welch (CA)/ Boyle (RE)/ Petrig (ME) 160-Weikel (CA)/ Brandenstein (MD)/ Rushing (NO) 171- Boots (MD)/ Jones (HA)/ Miles (ME) 189-Rosebrock (CA)/ Sandwith (ME)/ Fentress (RE) 215- Adams (ME)/ VanWinkle (MD)/ Daugharty (CA) 285- Daugharty(CA)/ Wimpleberg (RE)/ Hammelman(MD) Any thoughts?
  7. I believe you will see a few upsets this weekend at the SIAC tourney. The big one coming by way of team champions, Castle. MD will be struggling in the fight for THIRD. In this individual atmosphere with a strong Castle, Reitz, Memorial, and Mater Dei it comes down the most individual champs and who can fight back for third. I believe, MD will struggle with the combo of Castle, Reitz, and Memorial. These teams match up well and have beaten a number if not all/(Henderson) of the MD wrestlers. Reitz has also lost to a number of either the Castle or Memorial wrestlers. I think Castle will win the team title with champs at 130/145/152/160/285 Memorial will be in second or third with champs at 112/140/189/215 MD will have champs at 125/171 Reitz will have champs at 119/135 Harrison will have Hall at 103 The battle for 2nd through 4th will be in the consos!
  8. I disagree. This may be somewhat of a stretch, but I have seen all the the schools wrestle. In the individual tourney atmosphere with the spread of talent, I believe Castle will be on top with Reitz coming in second and MD or MHS at a close third. The talent seems to be spread out among the schools. I know at a few weight classes we have three way (A beat B but lost to C; B beat C but lost to A). It should make for an interesting tourney. Castle seems to have the most potential number one seeds, and when you take a few from reitz and a few from memorial it could be dangerous for mater dei. (MD only has a few- studs- and it seems they have fallen to either a castle, reitz, or mhs wrestler). Reitz has several studs, but only beat MHS by 10 and ousted Md by a narrow margin. It will definately come down to matchups. DONT BE SUPRISED IF CASTLE comes out on top, Reitz second, and MD and Memorial fighting it out for third.
